I backed up my contacts to icloud from my iphone 4, but I don't see them in icloud?
I have an old iphone 4 and a new 5c. I backed up my contacts to icloud but don't see them there. All I see are the new (very few) contacts from the new phone. I am using the same icloud and apple ID. Do I have to change any settings? And if so, where and what?
Thank you for your answer!
iCloud doesn't backup your contacts, except as part of a full iOS device backup.
Turning on Contacts in iCloud Settings is NOT a backup. That is syncing.
Syncing and backup are not the same.
If you are having problems with iCloud syncing contacts between iOS devices, iCloud.com and your computers (and not with the backup function), see: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3998

hi i have recently backed up my iphone 4 to do a wipe of my phone. i got all my info back on it but was wondering how can i view my messages on my computer so that i can delete old messages from months ago without actually having to delete the recent ones?
The backup includes text messages but they are stored in a format meant only for restoring back to the phone. There are 3rd party backup extractors that can view them. One of them is http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/ibackupextractor/

Not able to reset my security questions.
You need to contact Apple. Click here, phone them, and ask for the Account Security team.

I received my new iphone 6 last week, backed my iphone 5 and then restored my new handset. It has been working fine until today when I deleted all my contacts from my old handset. Contacts have gone from my new handset too, how do I get them back? I don't think the back up was done using icloud as I keep getting the message "not enough memory"
The point is not whether you used iTunes or iCloud to restore your new iPhone. It's whether you have Contacts turned on in Settings > ICloud. If you do on both your old iPhone and new iPhone then those devices are connected through iCloud. Deletions on one device are also made on the other.
You may be able to restore your Contacts be using your old device backup to restore your new iPhone again. Make sure that you turn Off ICloud functionality on your old iPhone before you delete anything else from it. -
I just backed up my 3gs iphone using itunes. All my photos and contacts have disappeared from my phone. I am unable to locate them on my computer. HELP!!!
OK, I understand. Try this ... it's much safer. It will simply restore your backup, but not do anything to your iOS:
While your iPhone is plugged in to iTunes, right click on the iPhone icon on the left side of the iTunes display.
Choose "Restore from backup ..." from the pop-up menu that appears.
Again, what this will do is place that backup back on your iPhone without changing iOS. So you should be very confident in the backup contents before doing this. -
I need to recover deleted data from my iPhone 4S but don't have a recent backup. I thought by pressing sync on my macbook this would back up…but I was wrong. There are no backups on my macbook and the latest backup on iCloud was Jan 2012. My mum died in May and I had lots of text messages that I wanted to keep. I really want to get them back. Is there any way at all I can get that deleted data from the phone?
Since it has always been very basic to backup your computer and all it's data, Apple provides no way for you to transfer music from your iPhone back to your computer. As you know, you can re-download all iTunes purchases, but music that you ripped yourself you'll have to just re-rip again.
You can try and find 3rd party applications that might help you. I'm sure you'll pay, however.
Let this be a very important lesson learned.
Best. -
Contacts were deleted from my iphone 5 and now are gone on icloud. Is there a way to find them from a previous icloud backup?

How do I transfer, move, back up, upload or whatever the correct terminology is, my contacts and photos from my IPhone 5 to my Windows computer?
You can transfer photos in several different ways:
via USB cord: iOS: Import personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer
via Photo Stream: iCloud: My Photo Stream FAQ
via a number of 3rd party apps such as http://www.photosync-app.com
You can transfer contacts via:
iCloud: https://www.apple.com/icloud/features/
iTunes sync: iTunes 11 for Windows: Sync contacts, calendars, and other info with iPod, iPhone, or iPad
and there may also be 3rd party apps.
Note that you can also backup to iCloud or to a computer, but that is only designed to be used for a restore back to the phone and you won't see usable photos or contacts on the computer. -
Is it possible to set up my iPhone 5 as a new phone and sync ONLY my contacts and apps from my iPhone 4? Or do I have to set up my iPhone 5 by using my iPhone 4 backup (I'd rather not)?
Contacts are not stored in a backup, so a restore will not bring them in. Contacts, along with all the other Apple databases (log into icloud.com with a browser and look at the various pages - this is what I call the Apple databases) are contained in their own locations on the servers. You should be able to take a new device, go to Settings>iCloud, log in to the icloud account, then turn on the services (e.g. contacts) you want to sync. They will then be synced to the device. That has nothing to do with a restore and with the old iphone 4. As for apps, their listing and locations on the screens are stored in a backup. If you don't restore, then go to the itunes app store, look under Purchased Apps and download them again.

I can air print documents and email from my iphone 5, but cannot figure out to print a contact from Outlook from my iphone.
As far as I know you can't delete the primary email address for an iCloud account. It's assigned when the account is created. But your neighbor wouldn't have been able to get into your iCloud account without your Apple ID and password. Are you sure the account wasn't still on your phone when you gave it to him?
You could migrate a copy of your data to a new iCloud account but I would still be concerned that someone else was using my old account, which presumably still has your data in it.
I'm fairly certain that you're going to have to have iCloud support help you sort this one out as they may have the ability to make changes to an existing account that users can't. Make an appointment with the genius bar at a nearby Apple store and have them take a look at it. If necessary, they should be able to contact iCloud support for you.
