I backup from HP recovery manager . How do I recover files from Backup.2.fbw.

I used the HP recovery manager to back up everthing .Then I selected to return the PC to it's original condition.
Now I have 2 files on my external 500 GB storage as described: backup.1        backup.2.fbw
I need help in restoring the backup.2.fbw    I double click it & it will not open. I searched the web for solution & their's a software by the name: File view pro.   Is there a solution from HP support on this & how to solve this?  Thank you so much.
Hp support mentioned a solution on laptops & I tried it but the procedures don't apply on my desktop.

You should have one .exe file along with the .fbw file/files. This .exe should be executed  to start the copy of the backed up files to a folder on your C drive where you can then move them to Documents or wherever desired.

How can I recover files from an iPod Touch (4th gen) prior to a required restore?
The iPod Touch was working perfectly fine.  iTunes suggest that I update the iPod Touch to the latest operating software, and I proceeded to do so.  Then a message popped up stating that the iPod Touch needs to be fully restored - and that all data will be lost.  The iPod Touch now displays the 'plug into iTunes' screen, and is stuck there.  There are irreplaceable family momentos on the iPod Touch.  How can I recover files from an iPod Touch prior to a required restore?  HELP...

Your only hope is to contact a data recovery company. When it shows the connect to iTunes screen the iPod is essentially deleted.
You can restore from an existing backup

  • How do I recover files from my HP Pocket Media Drive?

My HP Pavilion g6 computer's hard drive crashed a couple weeks ago and as it was crashing, a pop-up showed up to tell me to back up all of my data. I hooked up my pocket media drive and waited until I read a message saying "files successfully backed up", or something similar to that. I then sent my computer to an HP technical support center for them to fix it up. When I got my computer back, I hooked up my pocket media drive and tried to restore my files. I have been unsuccessful with this and need help. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

  • How do I recover files from a Time Machine backup after a clean system reinstall?

I had a really funky problem with my Japanese input that is too weird (and irrelevant at this point) to go into here. The gist is that I took my 13-inch, Mid-2012 MacBook Air to the Apple Store in Osaka, and one of their geniuses told me he couldn't isolate the cause and that the only solution was to do a complete reinstall. Of course, I had backed up my whole disk to my Time Capsule before going to the store. The problem is, I cannot do a straight backup, because that will simply bring back the unsolvable problem.
I got the MacBook Air home and used the moving assistant utlity (sorry, I don't know the English name for it since my system's in Japanese) to resinstall all my applications. So far so good. The problem is, I have no idea how to get my files, photos, music, and movies from the Time Capsule into my new account. I didn't see any option for that when I ran the moving assistant utility, and I absolutely do not want to resinstall anything from the old Library Folder.
When I go into Time Machine mode, pinks lines on the right side of the screen indicate that Time Machine has all my old backups there, but when I try to navigate to them, I get only an empty black window. I assume that's because Time Machine does not recognize my old account and new account as the same account (and indeed there is no reason at this point that it should, since I don't know how to link them).
Any help would be very much appreciated.

While in Time Machine, press the key combination shift-command-C. The front window will show all mounted volumes. All snapshots should now be accessible. Select the one you want and navigate to the files you want to restore.

  • How can I recover files from my Windows 7 backup cd's on Windows 8 laptop?

    1. HP ENVY m6 Notebook PC
    2. Windows 8
    3. No Error Messages
    4. No Changes
I had an hp laptop with windows 7 on it. After it crashed a couple of times, I made backup dvds using hp's file backup. It actually came out to 11 dvds. I bought a new hp laptop which came with Windows 8. I tried running the application on the dvd's, but it skips over all the files and installs nothing. How do I recover my files on these dvd's?

    Hello thelink484,
To me, it sounds like you recovered your operating system and all the preloaded software, on 11 dvd's.  You cannot simply install everything like this, from Windows 7 to Windows 8.
You will need to restore on a windows 7 machine, then backup your user files that you want to move to Windows 8.

  • How do i recover files from time capsule

A couple of days ago my  macbook pro (mid 2009, 2.53 GHz intel core 2 duo running Mountain Lion) started getting slow almost to a crawl, and the hdd name was changed automatically from Macintosh HD to a really long and weird name, something like ////////kjiosdjfk43///////////////////////////////, the name of a  folder that I had on the desktop was also changed to a weird name like that. I changed the name back to Macintosh HD and after that it would take forever to boot and then wouldnt boot at all. I tried to reinstall OSX from the osx utilites menu after pressing command + R while booting but after downloading the file it would get stuck at " about 0 seconds remaining" i tried to format the drive but it still wouldnt install OSX. I bought a new HDD and installed everything from scratch, Leopard, Snow Leopard and finally Mountain Lion. Since the original HDD name was changed i suspected a virus, I haven't used time machine since installing Mountain Lion, I need to know how to check if it was a virus or just the HDD failing. Right now I'm running a scan on the time capsule disk with avast free for mac ( is Avast any good on Mac's?).  It's my understanding that my time capsule disk assumes its connected to a new mac, I would like to transfer all my files (music, movies, but most importantly the photos i had on iPhoto) instead of doing a full restore from time capsule (I'd like to do this because i had a lot of applications I no longer use and the mac was getting slow from a while back), if I decide to do this, how do i do it, and, after copying the files do i need to erase the time capsule disk and set it up as a new one for the "new" mac or can I save the old backups and start backing up new ones from this point on ( I'd like to do this in case i forget to transfer any files I still have them on time capsule)

Time Machine will delete its hourly backups when it is running low on space. The daily Backups remains.
Then it will delete the daily backups when it is running low on space. The weekly backups remains.
Then it will delete the weekly backups when it is running low on space. The monthly backups remain.
Then it will delete the odlest backups when it is running low on space.
But because of the convoluted way its internal pointer system works, it will never delete the only backup copy of a current file -- there will still be a copy on the Backup as long as there is still an original file in place on your drive.
So I think your assertion that it deletes your stuff without asking you is an exaggeration. It is not nearly so dire as you are saying.

  • How do I recover files from a cloned but older external drive?

A few months ago I cloned one of my external drives where I keep some of my video files.
Shortly after that I got a new 3 TB drive, I promptly did a lot of file reorganizing within iMovie (because of misdating issues I was correcting from earlier), and also lots of new iPhoto movies had been imported. (This will screw things up later, so is relevant.)
Then, to make things worse, after moving things within iMovie, I copied all the files from one drive to the other because one of the drives was too full.  I have lots of drives, and I had just got this HUGE drive, so I wanted to move things from the 500gb drive to my 1T drive.  I had THOUGHT everything was fine, because the visual inspection showed all the folders.  Only later did I discover that it was only the folders/directories that had copied, not the actual movies.
And then went on vacation. While on vacation, there was a power outage, and my backup drive died. When I came back I discovered the problem. I can't even check to see if the "backup" (which I had actually made first) had the movies still because it doesn't appear to be recoverable.
SO, long story short, here is my question.  From my original CLONE, how do I salvage my files?  I can't just use that one instead, it didn't have all my files, since it wasn't all inclusive to start with, and I've added new files since. Also there has been an iMovie update since it was created.  Can I just open the drive and drag over the folders? Or import them somehow.
Sorry for being dumb, but I don't use iMovie very often. I had imported movies years ago, so long ago I don't remember how I did it, and since then iPhoto has just been bringing in my movies for me.
Please help. I'm feeling like a very bad mom right now. I've lost everyting since 2007.

Ok, I've been digging around while waiting, and I'm wondering if I didn't copy things wrong at all, and possibly if the issue was caused by the fact that I RENAMED the hard drive when I reorganized things, and iMovie dropped all my files because of that?  Regardless, my question is still the same.  *** do I do now?
At this point I have 3 hard drives with files on them. 2 of them are fine. On of them has no files, but a bunch of empty events showine me where files should be.  I have a clone that has those files, along with a bunch of files I don't need because they are already on those other drives.  I don't mind having duplicates I can always delete them later.  If I boot up that clone, how do I get  those files onto my 3rd drive?

  • How do I recover files from a Toshiba Canvio Hard Drive?

I have been backing up my computer with a Toshiba Canvio Hard Drive. My hard drive failed and I had to buy a new computer. I would like to save my data to the new computer, but I don't want to do a complete system backup because it would overwrite my new computer's operating system (or would it?). I would like to save individual files to my new computer. Is it possible to do this?

No way. Doing that would never overwrite you OS at anyhow. You can able to restore files from the backup copy, though you will not be able to restore file one by one.
    Alternate way
Try professional recovery software if the above methods didn't help you. Download it from here,

  • How can I recover files from an iMac 2009 with a broken graphic card.

My old iMac has a broken graphics card. Instead of getting it replaced or fixed I needed a computer quickly. I decided to get a MacPro. I'm able to boot up the old iMac and my MacPro can now read the files in the iMac. I have been transferring files from the old iMac to the MacPro via ethernet connection as the USB to USB was running slow. Is there a faster way to transfer the files between the two?
Is there a way I can delete the files on the iMac when I'm done transferring the files I wanna keep? Right now it won't let me delete anything from the iMac hard drive especially the locked Files.
Is there a way I can connect another monitor to the iMac if it has a broken graphics card? I'm assuming it's the graphics card cause I researched it on youtube and my iMac has the same screen they're describing when you have a graphics card issue.
    Thanks.

What is the iMac model? Does it have Thunderbolt? Do you have Firewire? Can you connect them via any combination of Firewire & Thunderbolt?
Thunderbolt & Firewire support something called 'target disk mode'
How to use and troubleshoot FireWire target disk mode
OS X Mountain Lion: Transfer files between two computers using target disk mode
That will allow you to see the iMac as an 'external hard disk'. They are the fastest way to access the full disk.
At the moment it sounds like you are using file sharing over ethernet - this is not the way to access everything on the iMac's disk & will result in you failing to copy data that you don't have read permission.
You can also erase the iMacs HD over target disk mode if you really want to remove the OS & data.
I don't believe it is possible to connect up two Macs via USB to USB so please clarify what you used. You may have been doing the right thing before you switched to ethernet.
    EDIT:
Nevermind about the model, 2009 iMacs didn't have Thunderbolt so you will need to use Firewire 800 to Thunderbolt.

  • How can I recover files from flash drive?

I've apparently lost a bunch of '.pages' files on a 16GB Lexar flash drive that were present yesterday.  The '.pages' files were contained in a sub-folder.  The main folder is still there and apparently okay.  I am at a total lose as to where the files (and their sub-folder) have gone to.  Any suggestions on a program or procedure to try to see if they're still there and recoverable?  Any guidance will be GREATLY appreciated!  Thanks!
    I have a MAC Mini (Mid 2010), Mac OS X (10.6.8), 2.4 GHz Intel Core2Duo 8GB mem.
If I've selected the wrong community to post this question to, please help me find the right one.  Thanks, again!

    Peter,
Thanks for suggesting Disk Utility.  I didn't know it existed, but found it and ran it.  I checked 'Verify Disk' and it "Found 335234 orphaned clusters, 25174 files, 6428792 KiB free (803599 clusters)"  And, then responded (in Red) "Error: This disk needs to be repaired. Click Repair Disk."
After I checked "Repair Disk" it responded: "Volume repair complete. Updating boot support partitions for the volume as required."
After then checking the flash drive the 'lost' folder and files are still not present.
I've been looking on the WEB for 'recovery programs' for MAC.  I'd just as soon find a 'free' application, but would consider purchasing a program if it would work.  What do you know about these 'recovery programs':
        http://www.wondershare.net/ad/data-recovery-mac.html?gclid=CKuo48CPn8ICFY_m7Aodx jYABQ
        http://help.cleverfiles.com/usb-flash-drive-recovery/
        http://www.iskysoft.com/disk-recovery/usb-flash-drive-recovery-mac.html
        http://www.easeus.com/mac/mac-data-recovery-resource/recover-mac-usb-drive.htm
Have you had any experience using any of them?  There are many more out there including ones that will 'scan' your flash drive ('free') and tell you what files it can recover, then you have to purchase the full program (~$99) to actually recover them.  Two of these programs are listed below:
        http://www.macintosh-data-recovery.com/?gclid=CPzujPKOn8ICFQNk7AodqFoAVw
        http://www3.softcity.com/mac-data-recovery/?tracking=SC_EN_PP_GO_SE_MDR&keyword= recover%20lost%20files%20on%20mac&gclid=CN7ArqaPn8ICFe_m7AodtFUAHg
I had even converted 7 of the original '.pages' files to '.pdf' files to eMail some friends in the universal '.pdf' format on Nov. 28th.  The '.pdf' files were saved back to the original folder on the flash drive.  They, also, cannot be found anywhere!!??
I can re-build the files (~150-200 photo pages from vacation trip back in May), but there were many comments and some special research (maps, etc.) I had included that I would probably not be able to duplicate exactly.  Luckily the '.jpg' photos from our trip are still present on the flash drive and also on the camera's memory stick - THANK GOODNESS!  However, now I am hoping that one of the recovery programs listed above might solve my problem.
Again, thanks for your help, but I'm not THERE yet!

  • How do I recover files from time machine backup?

I need to recover my entire system from my time machine backup.
I'm following the help center instructions.
The last step is step 6.
It says, "Select the date and time of the backup you want to restore, and then follow the onscreen instructions."
Problem is, no onscreen instructions appear.

  • Satellite L40: How do I recover files from Hard Drive

    Hi
Can anyone help me please. About one week ago I started experiencing a clicking sound coming from my Satellite L40 laptop. My laptop froze and when I restarted it, I was directed to the system setup with a message at the bottom saying
"Pri Master Hard Drive Disk SMART status bad, Backup and replace.
    Press F2 to presume."
    I have pressed F2 but I haven't a clue what to do?
Can anyone tell me how to backup my files before my hard drive has completly gone or if it has gone can I use another device to get them off.
I have tried to use the recovery disk but the disk is not responding??
    Please help
    Pete

    Hi
This messages looks like an warning notification from the S.M.A.R.T.
It does mean that your HDD will eventually fail.
It could happen next days or it may not happen for a few months but the SMART capability has detected that the drive is going bad so it should be replaced as soon as possible.
It looks like your notebook is not very old so the warranty should cover all replacements.
I see only one way to access and backup the data. Possibly you could buy an external USB SATA HDD enclosure and could connect the HDD to another computer.
Im not sure if you will be able to access the HDD due to the malfunction but if you want you could try this.
    Good luck

  • How do I recover files from an internal hard drive that is no longer recognized?

    Hi there,
Any help on this problem is greatly appreciated!  I have a MacBook Pro (late 2009) running Snow Leopard.  Over the last few years, after having brought the computer in to get checked, it seems that the RAM cards have gotten loose (or the bottom cover of the computer gets loose) and occasionally a grey curtain will come down from the top of the screen and everything stops working.  Restarting the computer is often fine but sometimes it can't be restarted and I have to take the cover off, reset the RAM cards in their slots, and retighten the cover.  The computer usually works fine after that, but verifying the disk using Disk Utility will sometimes indicate there is an error and the disk needs to be repaired.  Repairing it in Disk Utility is usually fine.
Last year this happened but the disk could not be repaired. The operating system could still be run, and after making a backup of all my files I reinstalled the operating system from the installation DVD, which didn't delete any of my files on the hard drive anyway.
A few days ago the same grey curtain issue happened, however upon resetting the RAM and back cover and restarting the computer, the apple logo appeared which was quickly replaced by a prohibitory sign, which stayed on the screen indefinitely.  After putting in the installation DVD and trying to reinstall the operating system, when the option comes up to choose which disk to install OS X on, the internal hard drive does not appear as an option.  Going to Disk Utility from the DVD, the internal hard drive appears on the left but the text is greyed out.  Attempting to repair the disk gives the following error message:
    Checking Journaled HFS Plus volume.
    Invalid key length
    Invalid record count
Catalog file entry not found for extent
The volume    could not be verified completely.
Error: Disk Utility can't repair this disk. Back up as many of your files as possible, reformat the disk, and restore your backed-up files.
While I know I could completely erase and reformat the disk, I really don't want to lose any of my files (ideally).  If I erase the disk but select "Don't Erase Data" from the "Security Options..." in the "Erase" tab in Disk Utility, will this keep all my files in tact and will I be able to access them later?  Are there third party applications that can recover my files so I can make a back up before I delete and reformat the hard drive?  I am currently running the computer through an external hard drive connected by USB, but the internal hard drive still doesn't show up in Finder (only in Disk Utility as greyed out text).
    Can I recover my files?
    Thanks so much!

Try using a data recovery product such as the ones listed here. Don't erase the drive or write anything else to it until the files are recovered or you choose not to recover them.
