I BOOK G4 IPOD PROMOTION QUESTION

I was reading the rebate form for the free ipod mini with a ibook g4 purchase, and i noticed it said to include your sales receipt. i no longer have that, but have the invoice receipts. Is it ok to send these instead for the rebate?

Can you describe what happens when you boot from your diagnostic dvd's (Tech Tool, AHT, etc...). Another option is running fsck via Single User Mode. Restart and after you here the chime, hold command + s. You will see a bunch of white text on a black screen with prompt at the bottom waiting for you to type. Type */sbin/fsck -fy* into the prompt and press enter. Post what it says and to exit type restart or shutdown.

  • Synch Address Book FROM iPod?

Many addresses disappeared from Address Book. But they're in my iPod. Question: How do I get them from the iPod to the Address Book again?
Or: Where do I find a backup of yesterday's (or last week's) Address Book entries, and how do I back up from there?

I'm not sure. I checked iTunes and iOS settings and couldn't find that type of option.

  • What do I do to download an audio book to ipod nano

What do I do to download an audio book to ipod nano?

If you are currently using automatic syncing for the other media types, such as songs, you need to go to iPod's Books tab.
First, if you are using the latest version of iTunes, it may hide the sidebar.  To show the sidebar, go up to the menu bar, and under View, select Show Sidebar.
Select the iPod in the sidebar, under DEVICES.  Over to the right, there is a row of "tabs" that starts with Summary.  One of those tabs is Books (if you currently have audiobooks in your iTunes library).  On the Books tab, set it to Sync Audiobooks, and choose to sync All audiobooks or Selected audiobooks.  If you choose the latter, checkmark the audiobooks you want to sync below.  Apply the change.
If you use the manual method (not automatic syncing) to load songs, by dragging songs from the iTunes library to the iPod in the sidebar, you can do the same with audiobooks.  Find them under Books in the iTunes library, and drag the ones you want to the iPod in the sidebar.

  • Download eudora address book to ipod

does anyone know how to download eudora address book to ipod using windows xp

Does the program export the address book into vCards?
If it does, you could put those exported vCard files into the contacts folder on the iPod under My Computer (when the iPod is connected).

I can log into my icloud account but i need to know my iPod security questions and answers.. How can i get them and see them???

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include clicking here and picking a method for your country, phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, and filling out and submitting this form.

After 30 chapters in each book of Game of Thrones audio book, the iPod audio dithers, chatters and will not proceed.  The same files work in other devices and computers.

A bit confused by your statement

Are you seeing your music listed in the iPod screen, or in Win explorer as in your earlier post?
I can see all the songs in my Edrive>al's Ipod> Ipod Control> Music folder.
A corrupted iPod database, will report zero music used, and have your music size reported as others, so you wont see the music in the iPod screen. Sorry, I thought there was some hope for you with iPodAccess, in recovery of the corrupted iPod database with your ratings.
You can try to borrow and  use the Mac Disk Utility ->First Aid ->Repair.
Of course, if your iPod Hardisk is in a bad state, from the Disk Diagnostic report, then all my suggestion are futile.

  • Updating iPod Overwrite Question

It seems that when I can update "Pamela's iPod",with something new, it writes over what's already on the iPod, so I have to update everything from the beginning. Shouldn't you be able to update the iPod without erasing what's already there?
Also, is there a device that will play both .aa and mp3 files that is manufactured for Windows? I like the concept of the iPod, but it really is lousy to get it to work.
One more question. Do I really need Microsoft's Service 2 pack update?
    Thanks!

007: Thanks for replying. I'm having all sorts of problems getting music copied to Pamela's iPod. Audible books works just fine. The problem I spoke about above is that I can't seem to be able to add, for example, a song to my iPod without adding all the other stuff already on it again. If I don't add my entire Library along with the single song, everything on my iPod is gone except for the newly added song.
Also, some folks have said for me to drag and drop. This doesn't work either. Last night I thought that I copied to my iPod an entire album (I imported from the CD and then clicked from the file drop-down menu, Update) and when I went to play the album this morning, only the first song played.
If you could walk me through this process, I'd sure appreciate it. Love your movies--
    Thanks!

  • Audio Books on CD-Ethical Question

I listen to books on tape from my public library when I walk, ride, or paddle. It is a pain to carry the cassette player, extra tape(s), extra batteries. Plus the player is huge compared to an ipod. So am thinking about purchasing an ipod for this use.
I know about audible.com but am hoping to avoid the fees. Here is my question, if I download the CD to my machine and then delete the files after I listen to them is this ethical? My gut reaction is yes since I am using it just as I would the cassettes but I am interested in what others think.
Also are there tech pitfalls of operating this way?
And finally, does anyone have a GIG to Audio CD formula so that I can figure out what size iPod I will need?
    THANKS!!
    Scott

Unfortunately changing the genre won't make any difference. It's a tag of some kind that has to be added that doesn't seen to be accessible through itunes.
Hmm, well do you have any audiobooks that you've bought online from Audible.com or Audiobooks.com? If so, you might check the extension of the file on your library. For another work-around, you could create an Audiobooks playlist. Yes it will be under Playlists but, they'd be grouped together. I checked my iPod&iTunes Missing Manual but it didn't cover what you are trying to do in the section on Audiobooks.
Also, have you tried asking in the iTunes forum? http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=149

  • How to listen to audio books on ipod touch, how to listen to audio books on ipod touch

I have an ipod touch 32gb.  I just downloaded a sample of an audio book to listen to.
However, I can't for the life of me get the audio to work.
It just shows the book in print form.
It is an audio book, I verified that.
    Help would be appreciated!

Actually, this is my first time exploring books of any type via itunes.
I've been only a music girl...
The book in question: The Ultimate Happiness Prescription by Deepak Chopra. It is listed under Audio Books.
I clicked the sample and it sent to my ipod touch.
I see the book under the book APP, but it's in print form only.
Obviously, I am a dumb bell when it comes to books!  Maybe I'll stick with music!

  • IPod Travel Questions

I have two questions about traveling with an iPod.
    1. Can anyone recommend a travel case for an iPod/headphones/battery? Who makes the best ones and where's the best place to buy them?
    2. How do you take an iPod through airport security? Would the X-ray machine damage it? If so, do you just hand it over to security personnel?
    Thanks.

Not only that, but in the electronic area of Walmart, they sell carrying cases and perhaps skins. They also sell them wherever you can buy iPods (i.e. Circuit City, Comp USA, Best Buy, etc.) They also sell cases at Target, and I've even seen Borders Books and Music carry them. Chances are, if a store sells music or some computerly devices, you'll find carrying cases there. If you're looking for some cool cases with band logos (i.e. ac/dc, or the ramones) Hot Topic also sells nice, protective cases for about $15. I bought mine there for about $15, I've had it for about a year, and it's holding up beautifully. (They have a hole made specially for the power adapter/usb updating cord, and flip open so you can use many Griffin products such as the iTrip.) Just look around. In most places, they do offer cases. Apple also offers armbands, slightly higher quality earbuds, cases, docks, and many more accessories. iPod accessories are not too hard to find, because the iPod is the most popular music player. If you don't find anything you want, you can take a lookie online too. There are so many manufactured accessories now for the iPod, so you won't have to go too far looking for stores that carry them.

  • Books on ipod

I am the proud mom of an ipod owner. my question is: Can "Books on tape" be downloaded to an ipod?

    Hi William, welcome to discussions.
In all honesty, I'm not even sure what you're trying to do is legal. I'm going to do a little research on this before I answer your question.
Maybe another user on these forums can help out with your issue.

  • Audio books on iPod g6

I have set up two of my audio books which I down loaded from cd's. In iTunes I converted them to audio books and set it up to remember where I left.
My question is when I turn the iPod off how do I go back to the same spot I was listening to when I shut off the iPod
I thank you in advance for your advice.

You may want to consider re-ripping the audiobook CDs. However, this time join the CD tracks into a single file per CD. Do the following:
    1) Insert CD.
    2) Select all the tracks of the CD.
    3) Select Advanced -> Join CD Tracks
    4) Right click -> Get Info and rename the Album to "Name of Book, Part X" where X is the CD number.
    5) Import CD.
If there are 10 or more CDs in the audiobook use the number scheme: 01, 02, ..., 09, 10, 11, ...
This way, you don't have as many files and it is easer to get to the book you want to read.
    Hope this helps,
    Steven

  • Audiobook chapters no longer grouped by book on iPod classic

My new iPod classic arrived today. When I synced it to iTunes 7.4.2 I found that the contents of the Audiobooks category were no longer grouped by title. Instead, all of the files were simply alphabetically sorted. So all of the "Chapter 1"s from all of the books appear together in the list. And they play back that way, too—going from Book A's Chapter 1 to Book B's. This basically makes it impossible to listen to an audiobook.
Also, "Audiobooks" no longer appears in the list of Genres, though it did on my old iPod.
All of my audiobooks are .m4b files and show up in the Audiobooks category (not in the Audiobooks genre under Music) in iTunes.
Has anyone else seen this? Any idea what's going on?

See the first section of Corrupt iPod classic. If the media files aren't visible in the hidden folders then it may still be possible to use an unerase/undelete or other file recovery tool.

  • Cannot delete books from iPod Touch

I downloaded two MP3 books from our library to my iPod Touch. Now I want to delete them but I cannot find a way to do that. They don't appear when I connect the iPod to my computer. Any help would be appreciated.

Why did Apple program it to function this way?! I synced photos from my computer to my iPod. I threw away my old computer when I bought a Macbook Pro. I want to delete my previously synced photos from my old computer. How can I unsynced the photos now? Can I ask Apple to allow synced photos to be deleted? Can I also ask Apple to allow me to add more photos on my iPod to the album of synced photos?

  • Follow-up iPod nano question?

    Hi All,
I have a 4G nano due in the mail and I have been preparing to use it with arch.  I had a previous basic question and got great answers.
My new question is related to its initial use.  I have read that many first use it with a Windows box so that iTunes converts the hfs file system to vfat.  A few others have indicted that they have enabled hfs support in the kernel and used the iPod out of the box.  Does anyone here have experience with the issue?  If keeping hfs is an option, which kernel modules are needed and are they available in the stock kernel?
    Thanks
    Kevin
