I-book G4 - no video

Thanks in advance for any assistance. Here's the issue:
My I-book screen is dark. The computer is on (fortunately I had file sharing on so I've been able to access my important files) so it's obviously a video-related issue. I hooked up an external monitor but still nothing. That should rule out the LCD or the power inverter, right? Which I assume leaves me with the video card. Applying pressure to the graphics chip doesn't alleviate the problem so I don't think it's the commonly experienced soldering joint issue.
Is there anything I've missed? If not, is it possible to install a new graphics chip or what exactly would I have to replace?

is it possible to replace the video chip itself?
With deference to a brody this is possible. I replaced a 9200 that had failed with the help of Superior. I bought a Dell graphics card on eBay and Dale swapped the 9200 into the iBook. It's been working fine for the client for 2 years now and has been to Italy and Germany. Cost of the swap was $80 plus shipping one way and you'd have to pull the logic board and find the part if that is indeed the problem.

To me it seems to say the video clips need to be delivered separately and one at a time.

Mac Book Pro to video projector

How can I connect my mac book pro to a video projector?

Without knowing what kind of video projector or which MacBook Pro, it's difficult to answer. But, if you have a recent MBP, you need a MiniDisplayPort to DVI or VGA adapter, depending on what your video projector accepts. You can pick them up from the Apple Store either online or in person.

Problem importing video to MY Book external. Video freezes-Drive disappears

New Western Digital My Book 320. Formatted and partitioned Mac OS Extended. When importing, video on import window will freeze, then catch up. After a few times of doing this during import... the external drive will disappear and I'll get an error message saying drive disconnected improperly. Geek at Best Buy thought I had a bad drive, but now the replacement doing it. No problem importing to my internal drive.
I suppose I could import to internal, then move to external, but that kinda defeats the purpose.
Any help appreciated. Thanks.

It sounds like you are doing everything right. I can only say it is working for me.
I currently capture to a Western Digital 1TB MyBook Studio Edition over Firewire 800. It works great for both DV and AVCHD, although AVCHD is not in real time.
Before that, I captured DV to a Western Digital MyBook 500GB over firewire 400.
Some random things to try:
1) Are you at version 7.1.1 (and run Disk Utility/Repair Permissions after the upgrade)?
2) Are you running Time Machine? Is it kicking off during your capture?
3) Are you running an AntiVirus Program?
4) What camera do you have? Some Canons are known for not playing nice with other Firewire Devices.

Mac book pro 15' video card on fault

i have my mac book pro 15" May 2011, i was working on it on friday but when i start the pro on Monday morning and the video was fail to show the apple window only blue screen, when i send it to apple autherize work shop and the technical adviser claim that the video was on fault, for that they have to change the whole mother board, the cost of repair quoted to me at $1022.
i was so angry, why the apple product now a day was so not reliable, i have total of 3 mac book pro. 2x13" for my kid and 15" for myself, some time last yaer my kid's 13" mac book pro also having same problem and have the mother board change but was lucky when her's with in wanranty.
can any one help, is there any way to make apple have the repair done in no cost or lower.

It's a little late in the game, but I always purchase the AppleCare Protection Plan which extends your warranty from one year to three years whenever I buy an Apple product.
If you're out of warranty, you should just expect to pay for any hardware repairs.
That's just the way it is... other companies operate the same.

When i add a book, music or video to ipad via itunes it keeps trying to add deleted files on the ipad previously. Why?

No major problem, just takes a lot of unecessary time. Whenever i do either of the following functions of adding a video, book, or a music file. Itunes keeps checking for the previously deleted files on the ipad and i dont know why. My problem is that if i just want to add ONE single file i will take more time because it does that silly thing. Any suggestion why this happens and how can be fixed?
My current settings are:
(TICK) Prevent ipad from syncing automatically,
(TICK) Manually manage music and videos,

If it's any consolation i've just had a similar thing happen. Went to add a playlist and it wiped 35 gig of music off my iPod touch 64g in a nanosecond. I've got the latest iTunes and osx but do not back up because i keep different styles of music (and loads of it) in separate libraries and devices which i don't want mixed together. All my stuff is burned from cd so it's not lost for good and i've got a hard drive with the "lost" mp3 music on it but even so it will take literally weeks to prune the tracks for my iPod to be the same again. Why do they make it so difficult to manage your music on these things. I have massive amounts of music on my computer so autofill is a disastrous unusable gimmick to me. The whole thing seems to be aimed at 9 year old kids with about 6 mp3's on their phone rather than serious music lovers (for example accessing EQ is a joke let alone the lack of a manual option). I'm a dj and use apple for that reason but to be honest i'm beginning to wonder why. I'm absolutely livid. The weird thing is that my mac still shows the titles of the missing tunes in the 'on my device' window but as my macbook storage display shows no increase i'm pretty sure it's all gone. Nightmare. I have no confidence in this device anymore and could barely use the previous osx 8.2 anyway. Why they have to change it every ten minutes is beyond me. As the old saying goes 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' but this format just gets more broken every time they update. An absolute disgrace. Why not just drag and drop or delete. No wonder the iPod is said to be a dying device, it's for music, it is not a phone. Not fit for purpose anymore. I can't be bothered to read a massive 'how to use' article every update. Good technology should be easier and more intuitive with each new version. I suppose i'll have to phone apple at my expense to find out what's going on, or maybe that's the whole idea. Very very very not happy.

Playing Audio Books On My Video iPod

I have a new 80 gig video ipod. I puchased an audio book from iTunes. The book downloaded to my computer just fine and I can play the book on my computer. File is located in the Audio Book folder and is in the M4B format.
The book is on my iPod, located in the Audio Book folder. When I select the file to play, it shows that it is playing for about 3 seconds and then goes back to the main menu. It never starts playng.
Further, whenever I sync my computer and iPod, the play count keeps going up. It now says that I have played the file over 30 times when in fact, I haven't heard one word of it.
I hope someone can help.

I posted about this problem yesterday as I was having the same problem. I contacted iTunes customer service using their email form on that page. I heard back from them in about 10 hours. They authorized me to download the book again. It plays like a charm now.
Apple has superb customer service. I was treated with courtesy and promptly each time I contacted them about this problem and a couple of more issues that were my stupidity.
I'm very pleased with Apple! !

Is there a MAC Book to Component video adapter

I have a club customer who wants to play music videos off of the DJ's MAC. There will be different MAC's coming in. Is there a MAC to component adapter available?

The matrox MXO2 is likely what you are referring to. It would be an extremely useful i/o device for you if the price is acceptable. It will have good resale value for a few years too if you ever wanted to get rid of it. With your camera's chip set and resolution of 850 lines you can capture via component to 4:2:2 color space by editing in a codec like DVCPRO 50 which is very efficient and looks great too. It is a big step above anything dv related which is 4:1:1 color space. If you ever drop your video signal down to dv quality you will take a big hit picture quality wise. Another device is the original AJA IO which connects via firewire and gives you component i/o as well as s-video, composite and digital component as well. The AJA IO's are selling on ebay for $600.00 - $750.00. They were around $2500.00 originally. You could also use an AJA LA which is basically the analog side of the IO and they are a little cheaper. Blackmagic multibridge is another product that is similar. These are all pro level equipment. You will need FCP.

Lightroom 3: How-to books? (not videos or online tutorials)

When learning a new software, I prefer to have a hard copy book on my desk that I can flick through, read and apply suggestions as I work with the software. In this way, many little extra tips and processes stick in my mind to help me learn it quickly and efficiently and correctly. This is how I learn best.
At the beginning of my Lightroom 3 journey, I thought the Help PDF was the user manual, the how-to of processes in using this most powerful program. Even 'though it does have step by step suggestions in some instances they are quite basic, and I am finding I need a proper, more in-depth how-to book to be able to get the most from the product. As Microsoft publications would call it, an Inside Out book (I use Windows 7).
On deciding to read through the Help PDF more thoroughly, I came across a further suggested help item called Lightroom 3 Classroom in a Book. I would like to be able to look through this book online to see if it is the type of book I am after. Is there a place in the Adobe website where I can do that?
The only book I am currently considering is the David du Chemin Vision and Voice. I have seen a few chapters from this book online and they show the type of information I am seeking.

Arranging Audio Books on iPOS Video 60GB

How can I sort my Audio Books on the iPOD by artist? iTunes arranges all Audiobook files after the Alphabet and not by Artist or Year. How can I do that?

That´s right. but in my first question i tried to sort my albums first under the Artist name and then by the year when they came out. So that I sort all Albums from an Artist in the order when they were published. Now I try to sort my Audiobook tracks in my iPod the same way as they appear in my iTunes. My iPod sorts them now by alphabet.

I installed all of the good, bad and ugly packages and every video works and looks pretty good. There's also some codec for h.265 too if you are interested. With VLC you can add more filters and such for playback. The i7 can handle lots of heavy filters.

How do I read a book from iBooks on my Mac?

I've been wondering about this for some time now.
I can write, make movies, read Amazon books and B&N e-pub books, watch streaming video, get on the internet with all my Macs and iPod and iPad -- all my book purchases are saved in iTunes on my Mac -- but, when it comes app software for my Mac Pro to read the books that Apple sells in iBooks, I cannot do it!!!
BUT! with Amazon, I can download the book, read it on my iPod, iPad, Mac Pro -- via internet or from my desktop -- watch or stream a movie on my Mac, buy stuff from Amazon on my Mac and iPod/iPad... store my books online or back them up to my Mac...
It is very frustrating to say the least.
My friend's son has a iMac.
But, they don't buy books from the Apple iBook Store because, as she puts it, "Why would I bother? My son has an iMac, but not an iPad, and he can't open the iBooks on his iMac, so I buy books from Amazon or Barnes & Noble. Then he can read them on a big, beautiful, sharp 27" screen. Plus, he can easily make the lettering bigger, if needed. Then, he can do whatever else he needs to do on his computer, all while running several programs all at once... not something that can be done on a $500-$700 iPad."

In addition to backing up and syncing through iTunes, please provide the ability to seamlessly open and read iBooks (a.k.a. Apple iBook Textbooks and interactive ebooks and other epub/pdf content saved in iBooks) and content purchased through the iBookstore on MacOS computers, not just iOS devices. While the new MacbookPro with retina display and other systems are essential for various computing tasks, referencing and reading books without shifting to another device is a major purchasing and productivity factor. I can currently do this with Amazon, Google, VitalSource, and Nook books. The ability to seamlessly move between reading books on an iOS device, MacOS computer, or within a Web browser and have integrated highlighting, notes, social sharing and other features sync between all three is highly desirable. Without this option, I will generally need to purchase books and other content from these sources or directly from the publishers, but not Apple.

Problem with Adobe Classroon in a Book

I have recently purchased Adobe Premiere Elements 11 Classroom in a Book. The videos from Lesson 1 will not transfer into the Organizer. I get a message saying "the selected file cannot be played because your system does not have the required compression/decompression installed." I can transfer my own videos w/o this problem.

What happens if you transfer these .mov sample files to the computer hard drive (desktop) and then use Premiere Elements 11 Add Media/Files and Folders to import the videos into a new Premiere Elements 11 project? Do you get the same error message that you get when you are trying to get these videos directly into the Elements Organizer?
If you go Premiere Elements first, what you import into Premiere Elements will be automatically copied to the Elements Organizer.
This would be a good troubleshooting step for now. We can decide later how this fits or does not fit into your workflow next.
But, as where Hunt's question is leading, installation of QuickTime (latest version) is a program requirement.

I have the Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 "Classroom in a Book" but my computer says "File Format is not Supported" when I try to use accompanying DVD. What is wrong please, I really like the book and want to learn!

I've had the product for a while and have tried editing without the book and using video's but it goes slow and I don't feel like I'm learning.
I'm sure there are shortcuts to be had and I'm re-inventing the wheel it seems.
"File Format not supported" means exactly what? Is my Windows Version not compatible?
Not used to chat rooms, would prefer personal training but that is not the way of things anymore.

Okay, so I Right Click and nothing says "Link Media".
When I double click on an asset it says, "the selected file cannot be linked because it has 2 audio channel(s) and the clip was created with 1 audio channel(s)."
However 1 video clip asset does open in CS4.
The "Lesson One" project itself says, "file format not supported." still.
