I have a marathon tomorrow and bought a book instead of the audiobook to listen to. How do I retract the sale??

If you purchased one type of media but meant to purchase a different type, you can cntact the iTunes store support directly about it to see what can be done.

To report an issue with your iTunes Store, App Store, Mac App Store, or iBooks Store purchase, follow these steps:
Find the email receipt for your purchase.
Click Report a Problem under the app that is having the issue.
When prompted, enter the Apple ID and password you used to purchase the item, then click Report a Problem.
Click Report a Problem next to the item you are having an issue with.
From the Choose Problem dropdown menu, choose the appropriate issue.
Follow the onscreen instructions and—if prompted—type a description of the problem into the text field.
Click Submit to have your issue reviewed.

There's also a link asking you to report a problem; check this link. Except in the case of a system error, don't expect a refund - but this is your solution.

Yesterday I accidentally bought books instead of audiobooks (I bought 6 on one purchase!) can I fix it by "trading in" for audiobooks? Or, am I out alot of money? Help!

Try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account (Store > View My Apple ID on iTunes 11) and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that book, click the arrow to the left of it, click the 'Report a Problem' button :

and select 'inadvertently purchased' as the problem and fill in the details (iTunes support should reply within, I think, about 24 hours).

Is the English-language version available in your country's store and if so is it the same price ? You won't be able to open it on your computer, ibooks can currently only be read in the iBooks app on an iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. How were you trying to get it to your phone, syncing it by selecting it on the iPhone's Books tab when connected to your computer's iTunes, or by dragging-and-dropping it from the Books part of your iTunes library over and onto the iPhone 'device' ? Another option is to try re-downloading it directly in the iBooks app on your iPhone via the Purchased tab in the ibookstore in it (re-downloading).

If you purchased an iBook, it will only work on an iOS device.
iTunes only syncs with iOS devices.

Instructions on syncing your iPad can be found here:

and in the accompanying documents linked from that page. Syncing your iPad with iTunes copies items, it doesn't move them. The only way apps would be actually removed from your iPad during syncing is if you had iTunes set to remove them on syncing, so check the appropriate settings in iTunes, set the book to sync as well, and then sync the iPad again.

Message on computer for eReader says "This computer is not authorized to preview this book" but it is authorized and I've bought the book. Am trying to access information that will tell me how to retrieve books that I've tried to delete from the reader (but appear to have deleted from the computer).

This is typically caused by file corruption. Delete and redownload those songs if doing so is free in your country.

The new Ibooks on Mac computers is about the worst thing to happen to Apple in a long time. I bought a book from the Ibook store, and I want to move it to my adnroid device. The thing is refusing to let me move my purchase. I mean, I used my money to purchase a BOOK. How does it make sense that I am limited in the movement of my book, somethng I purchased with my money? Can someone PLEASE explain how that is possible?

First of all, you posted in completely the wrong section.
It says right on the purchase page that you need an iOS device.
The publishers want restrictions on what devices can read the books to make sure everyone pays.
In any case, if you ask google there are lots of converters such as Epubsoft Ebook Converter
I have never used it myself though.
