I bought a Macbook pro about 2 months ago and now the screen is showing bright green on the edges and on some things that are supposed to be black, can I do something? or should I just take it to a mac store?
It's really frustrating cause I'm a graphic designer, and this is afecting my work so much, I recently changed to mac, because "it's so much better" but now i'm starting to think otherwise.
You will need to take this to an Apple store genius bar.

Absolutely, like I say personal Choice. I believe from remarks in here that the SSD boots up on Mavericks in something like 10 seconds whereas mine takes even longer to boot than in Mountain Lion. But then we are advised to use sleep over boot as much as possible. My problem is I have 300GB of stuff and getting bigger, and when I bought mine the biggest SSD was 250 I think. For me the choice of replaceable RAM vs soldered-in RAM was a clincher. -

This sounds like you may have migrated in Setup Assistant from her MBP?

I also think you mean your login ID, not the Superuser, unless you've enabled root. In that case it would say "root"
Let's try it easy first. Create a new account and make it an Admin. Name it your name or whatever. This will be your account. Next login as your wife and move ehatever Documents you want from that account into /Users/Shared.
Now log back into your own account and drag the items from the Shared folder into your Documents folder.
If this works and you no longer need your wife's account on the Mac you can delete it in System Preferences > Users&Groups. -
I bought a new MacBook Pro several months ago. I keep losing my wireless connection (my wife, sitting several feet from me has no problem with her iPad2). I find the quickest fix ix to turn Airport off and back on. Very annoying. Suggestions please?
What kind of wireless router are you using? more importantly which protocol are you connecting with? Are you and wife connecting using the 2.4Ghz band? or do you have a dual band router that offers the 5GHZ band? Are you both connecting vie 802.11 a/b/g or n?
The best thing to do is to go into SYSTEM PREFERENCES and select NETWORK, then select AIRPORT and click on the ADVANCED button.
Under the AirPort tab you should delete all the preferred networks and only add back in your network with the proper security settings and passwords.
If you hold down the option key on your keyboard while clicking on the airport icon at the top on your macbook pro. you'll seesome data that will tell you what band and mode you're connecting at, as well as in an indication of signal strength (RSSI) if you write down and post back that information it'll tell us what's going on. -

That would depend on whether your model actually has a hard drive. If you have the new 2013 Retina model, then you have a fixed storage device built-in that cannot be modified after purchase.

When it gets bad enough, you will need to replace the screen.
Your warranty covers defects in material and workmanship.
That sounds like accidental damage -- glass does not tend to crack spontaneously.
Check your homeowners insurance to see if there might be coverage. -
I just bought my macbook pro 2 weeks ago and have noticed that when I go to start it up, it takes longer to power up than when I first bought it. Does anyone know why this may be and of a fix for it?
Hi. It could be that the more you pile on the HD, the longer it will take to boot. When I first bought my MBP, it took maybe 30 seconds. But as I began putting more content on the HD, it seemed to take a bit longer to boot. You may also want to consider putting your MBP in sleep mode. That's what I do with mine and it doesn't hurt at all as far as I can tell.

i just update my iphone 4s to ios 7.0.4 and update my macbook pro to ios maveric. Now, my iphone 4s does not sound form the speaker and the volume button up and down also does not work.I could hear the sound through the earphone. Also the airplay disapear. take it to an apple store. make an appointment with the genius bar first. but if its that new they shoudl just take care if it for you. they should have the date of purchase on their computers so there should be no problem

You'll definitely need something to open/create Office documents. Check with school, they have either a free or very cheap student version available, or there are other third party versions available.
Download/install Flash, Flip4Mac, Perian, VLC.
Run Software Update (in Apple menu).
I prefer Firefox to Safari, but that's subjective. You may want to download at and see for yourself.
Learn how to use everything you can now, as your time will likely become precious once classes begin.

Problem with PadExe.exe message occurs at the boot-up
