On the bright side, it's only $20.
And I would certainly like to have the ownership (and even a copy of the installer on my archive drive), "just in case."

Has anyone acquired a pre-owned Mac with Mountain Lion installed but which shipped with an earlier OS version? For those in that circumstance:
Have you been able to apply Mountain Lion update(s)?
How about reinstall ML with Recovery HD?
After either updating or reinstalling, does ML appear in Purchases in App Store?

I lost my Hard disk and had to replace it with a new one, how can I get another copy of lion OS, as the guy at the serive center installed 10.6 for me.
P.S. I bought my macbook pro with preinstalled Lion OSIf you have a way to wipe 10.6.8 off, you can then reboot your machine (with no OS) and since your system came preinstalled with Lion, Internet Recovery should occur which will boot to Apple's servers into a Recovery HD for you to redownload and install Lion.
To be safe I would first make a clone of the current installation using Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper!. This way you have a way to recover. -
I bought my Macbook pro in 2010 and had Snow Leopard which I upgraded when Mountain Lion was available. Now it keeps saying Mavarick is available. Is that another update? Or is that something else?
Mavericks is an upgraded System in the same way that Mountain Lion was, the difference being that it's free. You can download the installer from the Mac App Store (the system requirements are the same as for Mountain Lion so you should be OK there). I've not got it: reports suggest that it is an improvement over Mountain Lion but it has some quirks that may or may not be an issue for you. It has its own forum, so you could look there for information.

I've just bought a Macbook Pro 15" and I'm trying to use Photoshop, but the resolution its displaying the images at for 100% are too small. I have to design for the web, so need to be intricate with detail, but I'm finding it adjusts the resolution of the image right down. (I mean you can see the image clearly, but it's too small to edit). When I look at Safari and see a web page at 100% it's clear, but the same page displayed in Photoshop CC appears 50% of the size (even though it says it's 100%) If I move the application window to another screen it adjusts it correctly – leaving all the pallettes, menus and tools correctly sized as they are on the retina display Is there some way to adjust the way Photoshop CC displays images so it is more consistent with what you actually see? I tested both ways. With "open in low resolution" ckecked the size of the images is cool, but it is low-resolution including Photoshop appearance.
If "open in low resolution" is unckecked the appearance is good but the very small size.
See the image below. It has 650 x 732 px, 72 dpi. The font of the text "Neste aniversário ..." is with 18pt. -
When I left my former employer, Pollinate Agency, I bought a MacBook Pro with Acrobat Pro (version 9 or possibly 9.5) installed from the company. I recently had a serious computer crash, and needed to get all contents erased. The support provider didn't have my product key, so could not reinstall Acrobat Pro for me. Since then, I have gotten the product key sent to me from my former employer, [ REMOVED ] So I need help in re-downloading, installing and activating the Acrobat Pro software on this computer.
Please remove the S/N immediately (I can't or would). Never post them online. As for download you can go to http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-downloads.html on the right panel to get 9 pro. I am not sure there is a MAC version there, but that is the first place to go. If it is the proper version, then please back it up to CD and/or portable HD, not the system HD.

i bought and downloaded iWork when i bought my macbook pro and i used to save my documents on words. then a few weeks ago, i downloaded a free trial of microsoft office but unregistered and deleted it a week after. now i can't save my documents on word. It used to ask me if I want to save my documents on word, now it doesn't. And the W icon keeps on appearing on my dock. Can I return my computer to an earlier date? Please help me. Thanks

You can either ask for this when buying a new MBP at a "physical" Apple store, or as in my case in the UK the online Apple store allows such keyboard configuration in addition to 3 other languages like Spanish, German and French -

You can try formatting the external drive on your eMac using Disk Utility and choosing a well-known format > http://pondini.org/OSX/DU1.html. It's quite possible that your new iMac would be able to read it, but first, tell us which formats Disk Utility lists.
If you have those songs in iTunes, simply go to Music folder and copy the iTunes folder to the external drive. Then, connect it to the iMac and copy the iTunes folder to Music folder.
If they are not in iTunes, copy your songs to the external drive. Then, connect it to your new iMac, open iTunes and drag the songs into it -
New Macbook Pro with a SSD. Can it be upgraded in the future?
The new Macbook Pro with retina display has a 250 GB hard drive. My question is: Can this drive be upgraded in the future (using a standard off the shelf SSD) or are you stuck with the 250 GB drive that it comes with?
The Retina MBP is a totally closed system that cannot be hardware upgraded. Ever. Besides the fact that they used custom components, furthermore those were glued on so disassembly is close to impossible as per the teardowns carried out by IFixIt.com and others. Got a score of ZERO in terms of serviceability.
So if you are gonna be beguiled by just a fancy screen, be sure to buy as much Mac as you can cause that's all the hardware you're gonna get. -
I can't seem to figure out how to burn my imovie to a dvd. I have an external optical superdrive and blank dvds. Is there a way to do it without downloading lots of other apps/software? I bought a macbook instead of pc because I wanted the video/photo editing, I'll be disappointed if there isn't a convinent way to turn them into a hard copy dvd to share with family and friends.
