It sounds like the previous owner has enabled a password on it. The first thing you can try is in this article:

Just the network is cranky..
Simple first step.. restart the TC.. ie unplug the power cord.. count to 10.. plug it back in.
Second step if that fails.. restart the network.. off everything.. restart in order.. modem.. TC.. clients 2min gap.
Finally if you are prepared to fight you can load 5.6 utility onto Mountain Lion and do a disconnect all users.. or a few other ways.. turn off file sharing and turn it back on.
The issue being TM did not dismount the sparsebundle correctly.

Some apps crash. If they do, try this, in order.
1. Double click your home button and put your finger on any app and hold for a second. Then delete that app. You're not deleting the app from your phone, so don't worry. Then try opening the app again.
2. If that doesn't work, hold your sleep+home buttons for 10 seconds and don't let go. Ignore the power off message. Then try again.
3. If that doesn't work, delete the app and re-download it. (This will work most of the time)
4. If that doesn't work, download the app on iTunes on your computer and sync it from there.
5. If that doesn't work, wait for an update by the developers. -

I bought a used Ipad1 from an online pawnstore. It came locked from the previous owner. I contacted the store and they said I should be able to restore it to default by connecting it to my computer but my Itunes won't allow access to the device because it's locked. What else can I do to access it? Obviously since whatever apps and photos and things on there aren't mine so I am fine with a system restore but how?
I do have the latest version of Itunes downloaded and when I connect the Ipad via USB it brings up Itunes and I get the message "Itunes could not connect to Ipad "Racis Ipad" because it is locked with a passcode. You must first enter the passcode on the Ipad before it can be used with Itunes"

Today I got my iPhone 4s changed from sprint and when I enter my icloud information it gives me an old backup (196 days old) and I back up automatically all nights , there was no choice to select which one I wanted or anything. So I ended up loosing a lot of important information, all the pictures and everything that I did the past 196 days. I try to see if there is a place on the web that the back up data is displayed but I haven't found anything. I have a lot of important information on icloud, to the extend that I even pay for more space because I use the iPhone as part of my work. Can someone please explain to me what has happen and if there is a way that I can recover my information? I am desperate it is very important. Thank you very much!
FransuasOnce in a while the restore process seems to mess up. What I don't understand is why you would perform a weekly restore.
At any rate, if you must restore, perform a device reset (settings>general>reset) and then you will have the opportunity to restore from iCloud. Restore a device whenever it no longer works correctly, not just as a matter of maintenance. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. -
my apple id/password work on my iPhone, iPad, and on my new iMac, except for the Cloud that says the id/password are incorrect. works on all the other iMac apps, just not the cloud. Help
Go to settings>store and make sure the new apple ID is logged in at the bottom of the page.
If not, log out of the old one and sign in with the new one.
