my factory unlocked iphone wont activate with my gsm sim card

Check Settings>FaceTime>On and Settings>General>Restrictions>FaceTime>ON. On the 4 & 4S FaceTime is accessed through contacts. Go into your Contacts, access the contact you want to FaceTime with and you will see a tab at the bottom of their contact card. You can also access FaceTime by going into your Phone app, select dialling keypad, dial number, press call and an option for FaceTime on the keypad will appear. It should be noted that FaceTime has been removed from iPhones sold in some Middle Eastern countries at the express wish of the respective Governments. Hi guys, I have a problem with imessage. My iphone 4S is factory unlocked and i have been using t-mobile carrier. i tried settings - messages - imessage on but there is this 'waiting for activation' thing. Does anyone know how to solve this?

Please upgrade your plan to Web n Walk plus. One of our users on T-Mobile UK had this to report back to us:
T-Mobile UK are in fact port blocking to ensure fair usage on their base Web and Walk Plan. I have upgraded to Web and Walk Plus and as a result the port blocks are lifted and I get a higher data allowance!

I would be greatful of any advice for my problem. I have bought an iPhone 3GS from my friend who had it locked to O2. She has had it since new and never jailbroken it.
I have just got it factory unlocked and also have not jalibroken the phone. When I restored the phone I got the congratulatory message on iTunes, and it shows the correct phone number for the SIM I want to use and the carrier listed in Settings>General>About is now correct too.
I am now receiving no signal whatsoever. I have tried restoring network settings, restoring the whole phone again, toggling airplane mode, removing the sim and reinserting when off/ on etc and nothing is changing. Whenever I put my SIM my old phone, it's picking up signal absolutely fine.
If anyone has any other advice, I would be very grateful.

If the Unlock was NOT done through O2... then that would be the cause of your issue. -

there is no such thing as as a factory unlocked iPhone
there is an iPhone which has not been carrier lock as has
been available outside the US from day one

Only GSM/LTE iPhones can be purchased unlocked. CDMA iPhones are always locked to their specific carrier for CDMA use, though some may either have the GSM portion unlocked or will unlock upon request assuming any necessary requirements are met.

Thanks for responding. Since I upgraded ITUNES to IOS 6, my IPOD Touch no longer works at all. I had numerous apps, music and videos on this touch. It made me restore to factory reset and it still does not work!!! Nothing I do will work on this touch now. I have so much data on this, I don't want to loose or have to restore!
