I bought an iPhone yesterday in white. Can I exchange it for a black one? (within 14 period) Also - if I can, is there a fee, and what is it? This is the unlocked version, still has the plastic on screen, but box has been opened and phone turned on.

    If it is still under warranty, and they determine it is a manufacturing defect, they will replace it. Be sure to back everything up before taking it into the Apple Store. That way, if you do get a new device, you will be able to set it up from the backup.

    The description doesn't relate to my question, but I take it there was no chip in it when you took it out of the box and it has occurred sometime since you got the iPhone. In that case it would not be covered by the warranty and it would cost you $229 USD to exchange it, or $49 if you purchased AppleCare +.
    Or you could just put a case on it.

    I had the same problem.  Kept getting message of waiting for activation or check network connections.  I also tried every solution out there and nothing worked.  This did though:  I download the newest version of itunes (through Internet Explorer - Google Chrome wouldn't work).  It pulled in my entire library thank goodness and then I plugged my iphone 4s into the computer.  I let itunes find it, did a complete backup in icloud, then did a restore.  Entire process took a couple of hours, but I now have imessage and facetime back.  I was about ready to give up on Apple and go get a different phone ~

    Here are some things to try:
    Close itunes
    Check your internet settings.
    Control Panel – Internet Options – Advanced
    Check SSL 3.0 and TLS 1.0
    Uncheck “Check for server certificate revocation (requires restart)”
    Click Apply
    Click Okay
    Open itunes and try again
    And, you don't need to turn off the firewall, just add itunes and itunes helper to your security software firewall.

    Well, of course this new iPhone will not recognise an AT&T sim card in it - you purchased a Sprint phone which is a CDMA carrier and AT&T is a GSM carrier, so no, you CANNOT use a Sprint phone in the US with AT&T.  The 2 are not compatible and if you had wanted to use AT&T as your carrier, then you should have purchased an unlocked GSM phone and NOT a CDMA phone, which Sprint is.
    Yes, the phone is unlocked, but it is the GSM portion and sim card tray that is unlocked for international use, so yes, you should be able to use the phone in China with a local Chinese sim card.
    You can use the phone in China, but you will NOT be able to use s Spring CDMA phone in the USA with AT&T because they are a GSM carrier, so that is why an AT&T sim card is not recognised in a Sprint phone because the 2 are not compatible.
    Perhaps you should have checked more closely when you were buying the phone that you were in fact purchasing the correct model?  Verizon and Sprint are both CDMA carriers, with AT&T and T-Mobile being GSM carrier.  Check before you buy next time so that you make sure that you buy the right phone.
