I bought an ipod touch at a pawn shop and it has account registered to another person on itunes. i was wondering since i started my own account with itunes and tried to sync the music and other apps to my account would it erase everything on the ipod
i bought an ipod touch at a pawn shop and it has account and registered to another person on it and i don't know the password. and i started my own itunes account on the computer and when i connect the ipod to the computer the other persons account shows up to be synced to the computer and when i hit the sync button it says that the ipod can only be synced to one library at a time. then it says that it would erase his library contents and all other apps in order for it to be synced to my account. so i was wondering if there is anyway to sync all the music and other apps to my account with out it erasing everything on the ipod.
Do what iTunes is telling you to do. Wehn you purchased the iPod the apps and other media do not transfer to you. Then are permently locked/lienced only to the person who purchased them. Using the stuff on the iPod is stealing.

I get an error when trying to sync my music. It says I do not have enough access privileges for the operation.
Follow this instruction exactly to the last line. It worked on mine.

check if you have read & write permissions for your iTunes music (or media) folder. in finder, right-click on it and +get info+. unlock the little padlock (you may have to enter your admin password) and change the permission settings. if permissions settings check out, click on the little gear-shaped icon and +apply to enclosed items+ like so
now try consolidating again. -
Currently sync'd on a friend's pc which I have no access to now.
You can't merge IDs, but if you want to change the ID:
For iMessage, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID sign out, sign back in using the new ID.
For FaceTime, do the same thing in Settings>FaceTime.
For Purchasing, do this in Settings>iTunes & App Store.
For iCloud, start by saving your photo stream photos to your camera roll by opening your My Photo Stream album, tap Select, tap all the photos you want to save, tap the share icon (box with upward pointing arrow), then tap Save to Camera Roll. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and provide the password and choose Keep on My iPhone when prompted, then sign back in with your new ID and choose Merge to upload your data. -
Ive tried and tried but the **** thing wont let me sync all my music, if this continues I will just have to return the iphone.
What kind of card is it ? If it's a debit card then I don't think that they are still accepted as a valid payment method - they are not listed on this page and there have been a number of posts recently about them being declined
If it's a credit card then is it registered to exactly the same name and address (including format and spacing etc) that you have on your iTunes account, it was issued by a bank in your country and you are currently in that country ? If it is then you could check with the card issuer to see if it's them that are declining it, and if not then try contacting iTunes support and see if they know why it's being declined : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Account Management -

My daughter has been using my iTunes account to buy music and apps. I now want to set up a separate iTunes account for her, with a different login. How can we transfer the music and apps she has already bought to her new iTunes account?
Hello, thank you for your prompt answer. I did have an idea that Home sharing might be the answer but could not quite figure out how to do it. I have enabled home sharing in my iTunes account, put in username and password, clicked on creat etc. But the homs sharing icon doew not appear in the left side of iTunes. So I got stuck. Any further ideas?

I had an old ipod touch. I got a new one. I still have all of the music and apps on my itunes but I cannot sync it to my new ipod.
Are you sure you have iTunes set up to synch to your new iPod? The reason I ask is that by default, iTunes will not automatically synch to a new device. You have to go to the Apps tab and click Synch Apps, and do the same for Music, PodCasts, and so on....

I bought an ipod 4g at a pawn shop, it was locked and disabled but the guy said I could restore it by connecting it to my computer and pressing the home and sleep buttons at the same time, it didn't work and he won't take back the ipod what do i do?
When I try connecting it to my computer itunes opens and says I cannot connect to the ipod because it is disabled, enter passcode on ipod. The ipod is locked and disabled and will not allow me to try and put in a passcode, which I wouldn't be able to do because I have no idea what it might have been.
I downloaded the newest version of Itunes, restarted computer, connected ipod, nothing, held every button down for what seems like forever, nothing. I think I have been screwed by the pawnshop. Is there anyway of restoring this thing or is now just a $60.00 paperweight?torreto44. that does not work with a Disabled iPod. Jim's gave the correct answer for a Disabled iPod

I have Mac itunes and a touch 2G. My wife has Win7 and touch 4G (both iOS 4.2.1). She got a new iphone, I now have her touch 4G, and am trying to sync it to my Mac itunes. The music and videos sync to the 4G, but apps & podcast will not. All are checked to sync. During sync, it gets to "determining apps to sync" then immediately goes to "finished syncing". No apps or podcasts from my Mac itunes are on the touch 4G.
You can only sync to one iTunes library but you can manage music and videos among different computer/libraries.
It appears that you are trying to sync with a different library.
- If you want to make the Mac you syncing computer:
--- Connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup by:
iOS: How to back up
--- Restore the iPod from that backup. Note that synced media like apps and music are not in included in the backup. -

I bought over a Mac Book Pro from a friend. I can't update iPhoto and other apps as it seems like these are tagged to the previous owner's account. It basically requires me to sign in to my fren's account which is absurb! Because iphoto comes with mac isn't it?
Contact your "friend." Have him set up the MBP for your with your own account, settings and passwords. You are not running IOS 5.1. That is for iPhone and iPad users. What OS are you running? Did he give you the OS installer disks?

I dowloaded ios5 for my iphone4, and when i finished the backup i lost all the music and all the videos i bought from the iTunes store. How can i get it back?
Backup do not contaiuns music or apps, you will either need to resync them from your itunes computer, or you can go to purchase history in itunes or app store app and go to purchase history and redownload them.

My oldest daughter recently bought a new ipod touch and gave her old one to her brother. How do I unlink his ipod from her account and set up his own without losing the music and apps already on it?
Connect it to his iTunes library and set it up as a new device. You should be prompted to Erase and Sync the iPod if his iTunes library is separate from hers.
Or head to Settings -> General -> Reset -> Erase all Content and Settings.

I have switched to a new iPad and transferred all the needed aps, included some high-priced ones for my business. The only thing I can't do is get my music and music videos to move. I originally tried to backup the old unit and restore to the new unit and this was successful for a lot of the aps, it didn't work for the music. It also messed up several aps that I had already initialized on the new unit and I had to go through the whole process again. How can I move my music without damaging other aps?
Thanks for any help. The contents of the Music and Videos apps aren't included in a device's backup. If you don't have them on your computer's iTunes library then if they are iTunes purchases then you should be able to copy them back from your old iPad via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases and you can then sync them to your new iPad. If some/all of them are not iTunes purchases and you don't have them on your computer nor on your backup of your library then there are some programs listed half-way down this page which should be able to copy them back : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991

How do I back up the music and apps etc. I restored my computer and I reinstalled iTunes, I was told something about a terminal command line, what does that mean? Please help
- Transfer iTunes purchases to the computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
- Transfer any other music by using a third-party program like one of those discussed here:
Copy music
- Connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
- Restore the iPod from that backup. The restore will also update the iOS.
Note that the backup that iTunes makes does not include synced media like apps and music
Are you sure you have a 3G iPod? A 1G iPod can only go to iOS 3.1.3
