The iPhone is designed to always have an internet connection as long as there is an available wi-fi network you have access to, or cellular reception. MMS requires a data connection with your cell phone carrier, which can't be exchanged over wi-fi. If your carrier supports visual voicemail with the iPhone, visual voicemail messages are downloaded to the iPhone via the carrier's cellular data or internet network only, not via wi-fi. If you ever need to make use of the Find My iPhone feature, it will be worthless without a data connection with your carrier's cellular network.
If you don't plan on having a data plan or you can't afford it, your money was wasted purchasing an iPhone. This likely makes no difference since most carriers require a data plan with the iPhone. -

After reading your post, it sounds like you are experiencing an error while downloading apps. You may want to consider restarting the device first, and then resetting if that does not work. This article provides detailed instructions for Restarting, and Reseting:
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
How to restart
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on the top of your device until the red slider appears. Then drag the slider to turn your device completely off.
After the device turns off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button again until you see the Apple logo.
How to reset
You should reset your device as a last resort and only if you can't restart it.
To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.

I had similar problems at the beginning. Bluetooth were switched on on both devices but the hands off was not working. Later I realized that iOS 8.1 was already released but my iPhone did not even notify me. Then I restored the iPhone connecting it to iTunes, installed iOS 8.1 and only after that bluetooth starting working properly and I could manage to pair both devices.
For text messages, try going to Messages --> Preferences --> Accounts --> iCloud account
You can be reached for messages at ... Add your cell phone number if it is not there already.
I could manage to receive the messages from my Mac with these settings. But still the messages are not syncing across devices but I am just receiving them from both devices. I delete a message from my iPhone in the morning and in the afternoon I re-receive it from my Mac. Interesting..

In order to send and receive SMS or MMS messages, you will need to have an active cellular data or Wi-Fi connection.
You will need these to send and receive iMessages:
An iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
iOS 5.0 or later
A cellular data connection or a Wi-Fi connection
A phone number or Apple ID registered with iMessage in Settings > Messages

I want to modify some of my add ons, but I cannot access my account. I can't remember my password or user name, so I give my email address in order to have them sent to me and I never get an email. I also clicked on the thing that you click on if you didn't get an email and I still don't get an email. I have tried both of the email addresses that I use.
I wanted to do that, but I could only see a 'Sign In' option and no option to create an account. I'll look again to make sure, but I would have done that if I could have.

Can not get ipone to accept password for updates. I have changed the password at least twenty times and it still won't.
Touch or tap the field that you want to use/select and it should get a box around it ; then double-tap that field to activate/type it. Once you've entered your password you can do the same (i.e. touch to select, double-tap to activate) to gradually get into Settings > General > Accessibility > VoiceOver and turn it off.
So to enter your passcode you first need to tap the 'slide to unlock' button to hightlight it (it should get a box around it), then double-tap it to unlock it. Then for your passcode tap the digit that you want and it should get a box around it; then double-tap that digit to type it; and similar for the other three digits in your passcode.
The manual (http://support.apple.com/manuals/#ipad) also that you should be able to switch voice-over off by connecting to your computer's iTunes :

Quality difference between picture taken with iPhone 4 and 4S when sent to iPad?
Is there quality difference in picture if it's taken with iPhone 4 and sent to iPad via iMessage or if it's taken with iPhone 4S? Or does the software compress the images so that it doesn't matter if the 4S has better camera because both will be compressed to equally small file size?
At least video quality is compressed so badly when sent via iMessage that it's unwatchable in iPad. Picture quality seems "ok" when sent from my iPhone 4, but I'm thining if 4S would be able to send images in better quality.Yes, but iMessage will always "optimize" videos (= make the file size small and quality bad), does it make the same process for images too? If it does, then the slightly better camera doesn't matter because both will be compressed to same low quality file.

You need to pay your mobile network provider for the calls, SMS and data you need to use your phone. This is an ongoing charge, usually paid monthly.
This is nothing to do with Apple. Apple only provided the handset - not the mobile network you use it on.
