I bought and downloaded mountain lion, but it's in my downloads...

...as needing downloaded? I actually just downloaded and installed the update and am running 10.8.1 and it says so under 'about this mac'. I clicked on download and it said that it was already installed, so I cancelled it, and it started downloading! I paused it and now it's waiting for me to resume... What do I do? thanks in advance for your help...I'm a rookie!

The App Store is referring to the "Install OS X Mountain Lion" application, not to the OS you're running at the time.
If you want to re-download the installer, you can.  But you can also just ignore it, or hide it, in the App Store.
