No need to unregister. Just make sure you sell the entire package including all disks and printed documentation.
Then remove it completely from your computers.

Use the Mac App Store application and go to the purchased tab, which you'll find at the top of the Mac App Store window.

  • I Just bought Final Cut Pro X and now I find out

I just bought Final Cut Pro X, I have used Final cut Express 4 with no problem using a firewire supported camera, Now I find out there is no video camers I can buy for Final cut Pro X for under $500, all the video cameras are now USB and for PC Microsoft based computers, What the He..? Does anybody know of a video camera (AVCHD) HD for around $300 to $400 I can buy, I really do not want to buy off ebay ...I'm not sure what Apple's policy is on returning software That has been downloaded but If I can't find a video camera for this software...I want my mony back. Help??

I don't understand what you are saying. It doesn't make sense and is not true.
Cameras using FireWire are now a thing of the past. These were the traditional Mini-DV tape types that we have known for the last 15 years.
Almost every camera made nowadays is AVCHD which is ideal for FCP X and their prices start at about £180.
They use USB instead of FireWire but that is no problem whatsoever.
They work perfectly and are much better in many ways than the old mini-DV tape cameras.
I am a complete dinosaur, always harking to the past, but even I have embraced them as a fantastic step forward.
    And they are very cheap!
I could go on and on.
    So what is the problem?
You can buy a brand new AVCHD camera for £180 which will work perfectly with FCP X or you can use your old mini-DV tape camera.
It's a win-win situation however you look at it.
P.S. You can ignore the list of recommended cameras. It is completely meaningless as new cameras are being produced all the time and there is no way Apple could get hold of them and test them even if it wanted.
Take my word, almost every camera made will work perfectly with FCP X.
I would say that every camera will work but there may be some weird type to prove me wrong.

There is no upgrade. It's a separate application.

  • Just bought Final Cut Pro 7 (Final Cut Pro 3)

    Hello,
I have both Final Cut Pro 6.0 and the new Final Cut Pro X running on my mac. Should I unistall, delete both FCP 6 and FCP X than re-install the new FCP 7 and than FCP X. Just wanted to do a whole clean re-install of FCP. Or can I just pop in the FCP 7 and install over the 6.0 version? Is it a conflict to have both FCP 7 and FCP X running on your system? or is it ok?

Before installing FCS create a new folder called  exactly  Final Cut Pro X  and put it in in your Applications Folder.
Put FCP X (together with  Compressor 4 and Motion 5, if you have them), into the folder.
    Finally install FCS normally.

  • Final Cut Pro 6 - Can't set Dissolve Transition longer than :00;25

I'm new to FCP and I can't find any information on this issue. Is there a setting that would prevent me from extending the time for this transition?

  • Mac App store and Final Cut Pro X can a single Apple account purchase 3 separate copies of Final Cut X? Also how do we allow our editors to update FCPX, but not have access to the credit card?

I work for a medium sized compand 400+ people. We have a 3 person video crew. How does our company start an Apple account that will allow us to purchase three separate copies of Final Cut Pro X, but not allow us access Credit Card info, but still allows us to update purchased software? Surely Apple cators to small businesses needing multiple lisences. I appreciate any feedback, thanks!

I would assume that since your company has a video department, it probably also has an IT department.   Have them set up the needed account(s) and download from the App Store for you.
You should also contact Apple about a mulit-seat licensing arrangement, but those usually involve 25 seats or more.
Apple doesn't really cater to small businesses ... or any business group in particular.  They primarily cater to the consumer market.

  • I bought Final Cut Pro 1 long time ago. When I move back to Vietnam, I have lost it. I still have the the Final Cut Pro 2 (update) and 3. I want to use Final cut 1 because I'm still using my old Mac os9 what can I do? Please help me.

Can I download it again? I lost my series number too. But I think my registered name are still in your record.

Only FCP X is downloadable. Everything up to Final Cut Studio requires install disks.  You might try calling  Apple, but the software you seek is over a decade old.

  • Lost one of my Final Cut Pro Discs - Can support help me?

    Hi,
Just got a new macbook pro and am installing a copy of Final Cut Studio 2 on it. (Previously had an old G5 where I installed studio)
It's a registered, official copy of Final Cut Studio 2 (Academic) and I can't seem to find 2 of my discs. Is there anything support can do for me? Or am I screwed?

Give Apple care a call and plead your case. Their number is included with the documentation that came with the software. Only they can send you replacement disks.
If you purchased it from a store, having the information about where you purchased the software including a receipt would probably be useful. If you bought it used from a person, I'd say you have a much lower chance for relief.
    Good luck.

  • Final Cut Pro X: Can't find project I was working on after closing the program

Recently, I was working on a video in Final Cut, and I had to close it to do something. When I re-opened it, the project I was working on was not there. I have tried looking for folders storing the project, and have found nothing. Any suggestions?

Are you sure you were working on a project, and not editing in one clip's own timeline? This is a pretty common mistake.

  • Final cut pro x can't find project anymore

    Hello,
I cut a project yesterday. Now I can't open it anymore. My timeline is displayed in red like this:
I tried to rename the project, copy it on the hard drive and import it again - it's impossible on any Mac.
    Thanks for your help.

So right now the files on my hard drive are not being displayed because I am copying of it to another hard drive.
Before I was able to connect some of the files, not every clip although it is saved on my hard drive and wasn't removed or renamed.
    I am not using proxymedia.

  • HT4926 If I download Final Cut Pro X, can I move it or re-download it to a new machine later?

If I download FCP X, can I move it to another machine later? I'm thinking of buying a new machine, but don't want to wait until then for the software.

Yes, FCP X is completely self-contained and you can copy it onto a memory stick, SD card or hard drive and put it on any computers you own.
It's worth keeping a copy on a DVD or SD card in case you ever "lose" your normal one as it's much quicker than downloading from the AppStore.

  • Final cut pro.  Can't open from another drive.

I added a new SSD drive to my computer so that I could take my FCP projects and speed up the rendering time, etc.  Now that I have it, I can't seem to bring the projects from my old drive to the new one.
    Any ideas?
    Dug

    I am running Mountain Lion V 10.8.2 on a MacbookPro 15", v8,2.
I installed a 480G SSD into the main drive and took the old  Apple 750 drive and using a data doubler put it into the Optical drive. I then cloned the new drive.  I copied FCP across but didn't clone the projects, thinking that I would keep that information on the other drive and use it as needed.  When I first tried to boot up FCP from the SSD drive, it crashed.  I then booted up the FCP on the 750 drive and it booted no problem.  I shut it down and then tried booting again from the FCP on the SSD and it opened no problem. I figure that by booting on the 750 drive it added the copy protection to the FCP on the SSD drive.   I then used the Apple instructions on how to erase FCP from a drive.  I trashed the FCP on the 750 drive and then trashed the library files that were in the instructions.
So now I can boot up the FCP from the SSD drive.  When I look for projects, it sees the projects on the 750 drive.  The projects are slightly shaded and when I try to click on them nothing happens.  If I try to boot up from the project file it opens and tells me to open the projects from within FCP.
I am going to trash the FCP and re-install it from the apple store and see if that helps.  Any other ideas will be greatly appreciated.  I am trying to avoid starting over in my edits.
    Thanks,
    Dug

  • I have a problem with Final Cut Pro, I can't find my existing events and project anymore!

Can give somebody me how I can solve this problem?

Can we asssume that you upgraded to 10.1 and created those projects and events in an earlier version of FCP X?
Or is there more to the story?

  • I am thinking of swapping to FInal Cut Pro X.  Can I get away with buying a 2010 Mac Pro to use?

Would you recommend eight or twelve cores?  Is the speed that important?  How much memory?  I read so much conflicting information.  Sites that say anything over eight cores isn't worth it.  Or you should only use six outof the eight memory slots.  Or a single 3.33 quad core is better than 2.4 with eight cores.
I will be editing 1920x1080 60p either 35Mbps MPEG4 or 28Mbps AVCHD.  Typically a single camera.  Sometimes a multi camera shot.
I thought I would ask the Apple forum.  I have read the minimum requirements for the software.  But I know it is better to talk to people that actually use the product.

For what your editing and with only a single avchd camera, I would go for fewer cores and a higher cpu.
A 12 core would be overkill and would probably give you slower  performance in tasks not directly related to export rendering.
A 4 core 3.33 quad core is absolutely faster than a 8 or even 12 core 2.4 in all tasks that don't use many cores. And Most tasks don't. But if given a choice, I prefer a six or eight core rather than a 4 core and would recommend enough memory and the highest cpu you could afford.
16 gigs or more of memory should be good and remember the graphics card. FCP X really takes advantage of the newer OpenCL cards that were recently released for Mac from ATI and Nvidia.
