I purchased and downloaded Lightroom 5.5. After installing it, I was prompted for the serial number. When I entered it an error message appeared saying it was an upgrade serial number and I need to enter my original purchase number. This was my original purchase, not an upgrade. Now what do I do?
It sounds like you bought an upgrade from Adobe. How much did you pay? The upgrade is about $80, and the non-upgrade is about $150. If you bought an upgrade version and had no previous version, you would see what you're seeing.
If that is the case and I were you, I'd call Adobe, and arrange for a refund and to order the correct version.

I am trying to load LR on my new macbook pro. It asks for the serial number. I enter the digits, but it says, quote, " This is an upgrade serial number. The serial number from your previous version of Lightroom is also required."
If you still have the old computer and it is a MAC, the Lightroom 5 serial numbers are in a text file.

Then it asked for my previous serial number from my original lightroom 3 purchase. Since I upgraded to lightroom 4 I don't have the serial number for the version 3. How do I get the serial number from my 3 version so I can activate my version 4 program
If you have Lightroom 3 still installed, you can get it from there.
If you don't and you have your box/disk, it should be on there.
IF you don't have either of those,and you registered your software, you can log into your Adobe account and retrieve it there. -
hi there, I bought and downloaded Adobe photoshop elemts 13 today. When trying to set it up, I was prompted for the serial number which upon being entered was deemed invalid. I know the serial number is the correct one. What is the next step, how do I contact Adobe store?!?

First off, my computer had to be wiped clean back in early January. All my programs was gone and that included my CS6 program. So I re-installed them. Then one day, I see this Adobe update and it had the Adobe Creative Cloud App. I think I did something stupid and I wanted to tryout not only the Lightroom version, but Photoshop CC as well. My CS6 already had a Photoshop on it. I thought it would be a separated (you know, a separated program on one side and the other one on one side) and not interfere with my CS6 program. Now it's asking for a serial number and whenever I input my serial number (oh by the way, I got CS6 through my school by online; so I got a non disc version) it saying my serial number experied. So here's my questions:
1. If I remove the Adobe CC app off my computer, would the cc versions of my CS6 programs go away?
2. How many time can you installed the non disc version of CS6?
3. Cont. from the first question; If I re install CS6 and uninstalled the CC app would that help?
I know I sound almost computer illiterate, but I need help with this issues. I am college student, and I can't afford one CS6 program, rather alone the whole CS6 and I really need that suite in order to complete my assignments while at home. I have bought the whole CC and it says my trial has expired. But when i go to license the software, it asks for a serial number and i dont have one. Please help.
Sign out from Creative Cloud and sign in again using email ID using which you had purcahsed subscription:

Then launch CC apps which is asking for serial number and check.
Still asks for serial number check the hosts file for Adobe entries , if present remove it and try to activate.
1) Right click on the Finder icon on dock and select "Go-To Folder" option.
2) You will get a text box, type-in below mentioned command and then hit 'Return' key.
/etc
3) It will open the etc folder, please look for file named "hosts" and copy the same to Desktop screen.it
4)Double click on Hosts file , it will open it with TextEdit, If present Delete Adobe entries present inside Hosts file like 127.0.0.1 activate.adobe.com.......etc
5)Copy and paste the Hosts file back to "Etc" folder.
When asked Authenticate with your Mac password.
Make sure to select "Replace" option when prompted.
Then launch CC apps which is asking for serial number and check. -
i am a subscriber to cs6 and LR5. i was never given a serial number and i can't open the programs. where can i access this information?
Cloud programs do not use a serial number, they use your paid Cloud subscription log in

Apple doesn't sell iWork that way anymore.
You have to get it from the Mac App Store if you want to purchase from Apple, or purchase a disk from a software retailler like Amazon. They're quite cheap online now.
If you do purchase an iWork '09 disk, you will need to trash the trial copy and any plist files it has generated before you install it.

I don't know how that is possible, since Cloud accounts do not use a serial number... you download & install & activate Cloud programs with your Cloud log in to your paid account
