I bought my friends I pod with all of his music still on it?

I recently bought my friends used ipod and it has all of his music on it. I want to be able to keep his music on it and be able to up-load my music on it from my computer. How can I do that?

Okay I have a regular Ipod for about 3 years with lots of songs. I recently bought an IPOD nano for my daughter. I was kind of confused how to have to ipods on at the same time. I connected my daughter info and it recognized her as being a new person and and the only sounds that showed were the ones I bought. Now I can't fin all of my original songs i put on and were in my IPOD account.
Problem #2. I just inputted my classic ipod and I think it recognized my ipod, but asked me if I wanted to transfer my 3000 songs to the IPOD I got confused and said NO, now my IPOD is missing all of my original 3000 songs. HELP, how do I get all of the songs that used to be on my account. Can you have two accounts on same computer?

My laptop recently crashed and is unsalvageable with my itunes library on it. My ipod still has all of my music still on it.
Is there a way that I can put the songs on my ipod onto itunes on my new computer without loosing them or having to buy them all over again?

Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your ipod. Only if you back up your iPod manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your iPod to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your ipod without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your iPod for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the ipod for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread:http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0

Hey there 79usma79!
I have a couple of articles for you that can help you troubleshoot the issues you are seeing with iTunes on Windows XP. The first is a general troubleshooting article, which can be found right here:
iTunes for Windows XP: Troubleshooting unexpected quits, freezes, or launch issues
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1421
This article can help you find out if there are any conflicts between your copy of Windows XP and iTunes, and can tell you what to do if there are. Before going down the troubleshooting route though, you should take a look at this article, which can help you back up your entire iTunes library to an external hard drive, so if this issue is recurring, you will be able to restore from that backup and will not have to worry about losing your playlists or music again:
iTunes: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!

If you purchased all of the songs through itunes store, please follow these steps:
1. Open up Itunes and Click on Itunes Store
2. Once you're in the Itunes Store look to right side of the screen and you should see the word "purchased". Click purchased and you'll be sent to a purchase screen.
3. Click on "All Songs" and then it will show all the songs you've downloaded. From there you just hit the button that looks like a cloud with an arrow on it, and it will download all the songs all over again.
If you didn't purchase them through Itunes, then you'll have to download software that will strip the songs from your iPod onto your computer. Here is a guide about how to copy iPod music. Hope it helps. Feel free to email me if you need further help.

• TS1717 we have had I-tunes on our windows 7 with all of our music for 5 years now it tells us it was not installed correctely

we have had i-tunes installed with all of our music for 5 years, now it will not open we have windows 7 , and tells us that it was not installed correctly why ????

It is all covered in the user tip Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates. Your library is safe, but you ought to back it up anyway. You will need to uninstall iTunes and all related components, reboot, delete what remains of the named folders, then reinstall. If you get stuck I'll be happy to try to help but most potential issues are already discussed in the tip.

Go to Edit > Preferences > Store, and uncheck the box for "Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases."

• Hi, just updated hubby's iPhone 4 and all of his music has disappeared from the iPhone and from the iTunes library! He does have music still stored on his iPod, but can't get it from the library on his iPod back to phone or itunes. technophobe help pls!

and all of his music has disappeared from the iPhone and from the iTunes library! Luckily he does have music still stored on his iPod, but I can't get it from the library on his iPod back to the phone or to itunes. Please help, but technophobe so put it in simple english please!

Sounds like the music you had on your phone was not the same music on his computer. The iPhone/iPod touch is not designed to be a storage device. When you sync with a computer that doesn't have your music, it deletes your music from your phone.
Was this music you purchased from iTunes? if so, and you are in the US, tap on itunes app, tap updates, tap purchased and tap on the cloud icon to get each song back. If you're not int he us, get iOS5 update later this week and do the same.
But you need to move your itunes library to his computer. Create a user account on his macbook pro for you. From your external drive backup, load your itunes library on it. Then sync as usual! (Don't tell me you don't have a backup for your computer!)

• HT1349 What if I Tunes can't find the album artwork for some of my CDs' within the stoThere should be a way for it tore ? download the album artwork anyway wheb downloading a disc ,should'nt there? My friend does it with all his CDs'. I cant' ask him tho

"If the content doesn't exist in iTunes then you can'd load artwork."
If not in the iTunes Store, iTunes uses the Graceland database for artwork and tag info.

• I have my home computer with all of my music, and my iPhone is found under the devices there. However, my computer is not operating correctly. I downloaded iTunes on my laptop, but I am unable to share the music between the two. I can't sync my iPhone.

My home computer is where all of my music is downloaded into iTunes, however I am having major issues with that computer. I downloaded iTunes onto my laptop and have the home sharing on, for both computers. I can not get my music on the laptop and am unable to get my iPhone to show as a device on my laptop. Can the phone connect with two different computers, and if so, how do I go about doing it? Also, please advise on how to share music on two computers.

You can sync your iPod with multiple computers, but what can be synced is very limited. See this article for more details.

• I need to backup all the music on my nano - my library is a mess with all my kids music

I am sending in my 1st generation ipod nano for battery replacement. I need to back up all the music on my nano. My library is a huge mess with all of my kids music. How do I just get everything on my nano in a playlist without getting mixed in the library mess?

You will need to use a third-party program, you computer's iTunes can only copy iTunes purchases back (File > Transfer Purchases, File > Devices > Transfer Purchases on iTunes 11). There are a number of programs listed half-way down this page which you could try : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991

• I just recently bought my friend's iMac 10,1 21.5in with all of his documents in it He lost his installer disks and it has OS X Snow Leopard. How can I restore it to factory settings? Or can I buy OS X Lion online and restore it to factory settings?

?

Sooner or later, you will need to have those install disks, so you or your friend need to call Apple, give them the serial number of the machine and ask for replacement disks which should be sent out for a nominal fee. Other than that, you could also buy Snow Leopard retail disk at various resellers or Apple store online for $29.
You will need that disk because: if you want to update to Lion and you purchase it at the app store, the license for it is not transferable, so if you ever sell that Mac, you are required to uninstall Lion and reinstall the original system (which you will need the disks for). The disks also include diagnostic/repair software.
So, it's best to have the disks; and, if you do purchase and install Lion, make sure you make a complete backup - bootable clone or Time Machine just in case.

• Just bought iPhone 4, syncing it with all my info from my previous 3gs.

I just bought the iPhone 4, and I want it to mirror my previous iPhone 3gs. I used to sync my 3gs phone at least once a month. But when i registered my iPhone 4, and the drop down it says restore as backup of ?, I select my 3gs and it loads info from Sept of '09. Please help! So then I proceed to sync my 3gs and start over. So I restore my brand new iPhone 4 and restore as backup of............ and I select the 3gs again, and again really old info loads.

I would recommend connecting your 3GS w/ your iTunes and manually backing up the info. Then connect the Iphone 4 and try to restore from the back up.

• When I delete using the "clear resent history", with all boxes checked, I still have a bunch of urls that won't delete.

when you go to TOOLS>CLEAR RECENT HISTORY and check all the boxes, except "form & search history" is a light check mark and can't be changed. The top is set for "everything". When I click the clear now button. After a couple of minutes. The icon clears and I close the browser. When I click the browser and start putting in a url, Some urls that I was looking at still show up. These are not any of my favorites. How do I delete these sites???
Thanks

PS- I'm using firefox 4 and have windows 7.

Entries in the location bar drop down list with a yellow (blue on Mac) star at the right end are bookmarks.
You can remove such a bookmarked item that shows in the list if you open that url in a tab and click the yellow star in the location bar.
This will open the "Edit This Bookmark" dialog and you can click the Remove button to remove the bookmark if you want to remove such a bookmarked entry.
