I bought my Macbook Pro on 11-26-2007 and it crashed on 11-26-2009!

On November 26, 2007 I bought my Macbook Pro 15'' from KSA (But I live in Lebanon).
On November 26, 2009, my Macbook Pro suddenly went to sleep and refused to wake up. It's actually not turning on anymore, at all. I took it to fix it and they told me that I have to change the mother board which will cost me $1300.
I don't get it!
I bought it for $2500 and after only two years I have to pay more than half its price?!
Why did it crash after EXACTLY two years?
Was it programmed?
My friends had a similar problem recently and their laptops were fixed without them having to pay anything, because it was a manufacturing problem. But in my case, they refused to fix it because my laptop is not even turning on to check if it's the same problem.
To whom should I talk?

Hi mona. There are 365 days in a year. Many more than 1 Macintosh (or any other computer) crashes each day. There are millions of MBPs out there. Every now and then somebody's Mac will run into strife on the anniversary of the day on which it was bought. Far, far, more, of course, won't. (Every Mac I've ever owned since 1986 has NOT died on the second anniversary of the day I bought it. Does this mean there is a conspiracy to prevent this from happening where my own computers are concerned? Of course not !)
You can see yourself as a victim of statistical probability or you can see yourself as a victim of a bizarre conspiracy theory in which your computer (and no doubt a handful of others, but unlike the vast majority) have been specifically chosen to die exactly 730 rotations of the earth after their purchase.
Now, I, for one, would regard one of these possibilities as well nigh inevitable, and the other as absurd as the notion that world was created by an immense green dung beetle lying on its back doing what comes naturally to dung beetles and creating an earth sized sphere from the droppings of a galaxy sized cow, but, I guess, humans being what they are, some will try to read meaning into such things come what may. Searching for "meaning" is , after all, our greatest strength and greatest weakness as a species.
Some MBPs from the time when yours was made have had their logicboards replaced even out of warranty because of problems with a known defective NVIDIA GeForce 8600 graphics card. The failure of this card doesn't usually stop the computer from turning on at all though. Instead it turns on , but with nothing showing on the screen. The processor and the HD run, but there is no visual output. Your problem sounds somewhat different.
Despite this, if you feel that your problem is being dealt with unfairly by a dealer or repairer, you should contact Apple Customer Services. I'm afraid that I don't know the appropriate phone number for your area, but any of the three "Apple Authorised Service Providers" in Lebanon should be able to provide you with it. If they can't , post back, and I'll see if I can track it down.
Cheers
Rod
