I believe that when you reset your ipod(command given from the computer, right?) touch WHILE the ipod was updating, It cleared the system in the middle of writing files, thus corrupting(equivalent of cutting of in the middle of a sentence) the basic running system.
I suggest you go to an apple store and ask for a technical diagonosis in person. they may offer to help if the problem is fixable. If your ipod is still under warrenty, i would guess it would be free/low cost.

No. iPhone warranty is NOT international, Except for EU countries, only valid in country of original purchase. In your case that would be Australia. You will have to physically return the phone to Australia for ALL warranty & service work. You cannot mail it back...Apple does not accept International shipments.

You can "try", but bear in mind, the warranty terms state quite clearly that Apple "may" restrict warranty/support to country of original purchase. Your problem could be the lack of officially unlocked iPhone 5's in the US, to replace yours with.

Time Capsule have universal power supplies.. 100-240v.. you should have no problem.
I do always recommend you read the bottom label of a device.. if it nowhere says 110v only you can assume pretty well it is universal.

Fortunately for you, you can make your new phone to work; but to do so, you have to call your Chineese carrier and give them the IMEI number found on the SIM card of your iPhone.
They will then activate it and you will be able to use it.
It's NOT a matter of locked/unloked phone; it's a matter of activating (pairing) a SIM card with a phone !
Just call you Chineese carrier and have them register your SIM card with your new iPhone and you will be back in Business !

All apps are forever tied to the Apple ID that bought them. To stop your id from popping up, you need to delete the apps on his phone, and then repurchase them under his account.
