I bought songs on iTunes but they dont show up on my library. Why?

I need help so I don't waste money on a song that isn't working!!!

What happens when you try to sync them? Error message?

I can see the songs in itunes, but they are gray and I can't move them back to my iphone or to any other device. I can't play them on the computer in itunes, I can't move them back to my iphone (where original purchase was made), and I can't move them into another ipod.

I had the Itunes store do this to one song out of three I downloaded. I went back to the Itunes store and reclicked on the song to download it again. It ran the download again and got the complete song this second time. Then I just resynced with my Itunes and all is fixed.

In the absence of any replies, I'd forgotten that I'd posted here, but I did manage to sort out the problem eventually.
I forget all the steps involved, and possibly some which may be pertinent, but in essence somewhere in the iCloud signup procedure I'd clicked something that told Address Book to upload to the Cloud, and otherwise remain invisible on the Mac. Tinkering with the Address Book preference settings eventually restored the Contacts list to my iPhone.

I have the same problem. One of the reliable things about Apple OSX, that we could count on screenshots being simple. Then DropBox came along. I suspect DropBox is the culprit here. I don't mind, even am grateful if DB captures my captures, but who gave them permission to totally changes my whole universe!!?

Audio books cannot be redownloaded from the store like other iTunes purchases, see:

How did you migrate the iTunes library from your old computer? Do you still have the old computer or a backup of the old computer? Then look for them in the iTunes Library there.
Any Audio book you have should be in your iTunes Library in the folder
~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/Audiobooks/
or whereever you have your iTunes library installed

Bought songs from itunes, now they're gone.

I bought a song from itunes via my old ipod touch. I've since gotten rid of it and bought a iphone for Verizon. I went to my itunes under "purchased" and it showed all the music I've bought via the computer, but not the one song I bought directly using the ipod touch. I went into the store to download it again, hoping it would acknowledge my "rights" to the song and let me download it again.
I was sort of correct. iTunes warned me that I'd already bought this song and did I really want to buy it again?
To summarize, I paid for and downloaded the song, but now it's gone and I want to get it back without paying for it again. Can anyone help me accomplish this?

Sorry, but officially Apple does not allow redownloads of purchased tracks. It's your responsibility to make backup copies in case something goes wrong with your system, as unfortunately it apparently did in your case, and you lose some or all of your content. The official statement of their policy can be found here, among other places.
It's possible that the track is on your computer but not being recognized in iTunes. Take a look here for some tips on how to look for it. If you can't find the track and you haven't made a backup and don't have your track on a player, you're probably out of luck and will need to repurchase the track.
If you have your track on an iPhone/iPod/etc or have it backed up, post back and someone here can help you get it restored. Otherwise you can try contacting iTunes Store Customer Service (select the category and subcategory closest to the issue you're reporting and you'll find a button to send e-mail to them) and explaining what happened. Reportedly in some cases Apple has allowed redownloading on a one-time basis. But don't count on it.

There was probably a network error while downloading, try to delete the song and redownload it.
Delete the version in your library.
iTunes Store > Home Page
Far right has Quick Links, click on purchased and sign in
Locate your song and redownload

Next I'd verify that the songs are physically on your computer hard drive. By default, they should be at c:\users\yourname\music\itunes\itunesmusic\artistnames\songfilenames if you're using a Windows machine (unless you've put them in a different directory), and can be verified through "my computer", accessible from the "Start" menu. Then, make sure they are in your itunes database, if not, go to "file", and "import" and select them to be imported, then sync.
Beyond that, I'm not sure what to tell you. Might be an issue with the ipod itself.

itunes 10.6.1.7 keeps showing app updates available on the sidebar but when i click to get updates, the update screen says there are no updates available

Issue solved - It turns out that the QuickTime version on my PC was 6.5 and I needed to update to version 7.6 or higher to allow videos to play in iTunes. I updated to QuickTime version 7.7 and then added the old podcast folder to iTunes while in podcasts. This found all video podcast content and then the auto reorg moved all folders to the new podcast directory. For the videos I manually moved earlier, I had to move (not copy) them back to the old directory or folder then add that old folder and they were now in the right directory and viewable in iTunes.

i have used itunes to upload my CDs and downloaded songs onto my ipod, i click the update ipod button and itunes SAYS its importing them to the ipod, but i disconnect and there is still nothing on it. Does anyone know what im doing wrong?

I see my songs in iTunes, but they won't play

I recently had problems with my computer and got a new hard drive. The people that changed the hard drive saved "My Music" folder with all the songe (2000 of them). I just downloaded iTunes again and get the message:
"iTunes detected a problem with your audio configuration. Audio playback may not operate properly"
I can see all my songs and playlists like before, but when I click on a song, nothing happens. Does anyone have any ideas? I spent a lot of time (and money) getting my music just the way I want it and I can't face redoing it all.

Try re-installing QuickTime as explained here. iTunes uses the QT audio codecs to play files.

I recently had to reinstall the factory settings on my laptop and lost all songs in itunes but they'e on my phone. how do i get them back on my phone its so frustrating.

Previously I could drag and drop my songs from desktop to folder, I had to get iTunes 10.4 could that be the cause of my frustrating attempts to get my songs back to iTunes library?
i am also unable to see previously dowmloaded application in itunes. If i select manage songs manually would that require syncing of the two and therefore losing the songs on my phone?

I am assuming you never backed up your computer.
Sounds like you still may have problems with your PC.
