i bring my mac air in turkey from singapore but the problem is i cant make a call or even send messages using imsg and facetime. I logged in th same account that im using in singapore. Its ringing but the other parties are not recieving my call. I send iMsg but the other device doesnt recieving it.

That's possible. Be sure to click on Apple menu -> About This Mac to find your Mac OS version. The Air does not run iOS, and it certainly does not run Mac OS X 10.3.

Mac air won't shut down

Hi,
my mac air suddenly for the first time ever , won't close down. I have a feeling I have opened a dodgy email but not sure, it is from a contact but could be hacked?
On my pc I would use ctl +alt+del to bring up task manager to close dow the pc, is there a similar command for the mac?

sorry but I don't know which is the option key on the mac? (oops). I had tried several times using the power button but that wasn't working either.
the cursor would not open Finder or do anything else, no other programs would open, - just seemed to have frozen, I closed the lid, butit seemd it wasn't even shutting off then, I knew the battery was low, and hey presto this morning, I opened the cover and it was a black screen, not the one previously showing. used the power button, received the battery warning, plugged in main cable, and powered on, and all fine again.

my mac air screen flickers for no reason, does not appear to depend on the hinge, or power connected or not.

You can perform the following two procedures and see if there is a difference:
Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
But, I would strongly suspect a hardware issue related to your display, for which no online troubleshoot exists.
Perform the Apple Hardware Test (or Apple Diagnostics depending on your model), and see if anything turns up:

If the issue isn't resolved, bring your machine into Apple for a definitive and free diagnosis

So today I went to the Apple Store to return my late 2010 model MBA, that was purchased on July, 2nd 2011, to buy the new MBA. It was very easy, and everyone that was involved was very kind. All I had to do was bring my receipt & the original packaging and they took it without any questions being asked. I was also able to upgrade to the 13" model with 4GB memory and 128GB flash storage (for a fee). So to answer the original question, through my own experience you should be able to return & exchange your MBA to the newer model if it was purchased within 30 days, good luck!

GREEN SCREEN ON ONE Mac Air

When my daughter face books with me on her new MAC AIR, it brings up the connection and she can see and hear me for a few seconds and then the screen turns green and stays screen. On my Ipad I can see and hear fine. Doesn't matter who calls who. When she facetimes with other people she doesn't have a problem at all. I doubled my internet speed and it still happens. 0.54Mbps up and 5.66 Mpbs down.

This is what Apple has to say on the subject:
"When cleaning the outside of your MacBook Air and its components, first shut down your MacBook Air, and then unplug the power adapter. Then use a damp, soft, lint-free cloth to clean the MacBook Air exterior. Avoid getting moisture in any openings. Do not spray liquid directly on the computer. Do not use aerosol sprays, solvents, or abrasives that might damage the finish."
Most of the time, you can just use a soft lint-free cloth, dampened with a little pure, or distilled water to clean the screen. Take care not to use so much water that it has any cahnce of entering cracks or orifices and damaging sensitive components.
You can also use some of the safe solutions designed for LCD screens to remove stubborn soils. Again, make sure you only apply the solution to the towel, and not so much that you risk getting liquid inside the unit.

Sticky caps keys on mac air

The caps lock light on my Mac Air 13 stopped working, and the right shift key is now locking caps. Nothing was ever spilled on the keyboard. How can this be fixed?

Which version of photoshop and mac os x are you using?
Shift + F5 or Shift + Delete doesn't bring up the Edit>Fill dialog?
I don't think the Caps Lock key can be assigned as a keyboard shortcut in photoshop.

Cannot access safe boot for Mac Air running Snow Leopard any suggestion please?

Mac Air - Mid 2011 (79gig free space). Running Snow Leopard 10.6 + all updates installed to-date. Last update was iTunes 98m file which was installed 4 days ago.
Unit has progressively slowed up, starting with intermittent freezing of cursor, which appears to have started not long after connecting iPhone 5 running current iOS.
Have accessed Safe Boot and ran drive utility check, all ok.
Received error message after drive check stating, "(AppleUsbEthernetHost.text) incorrectly installed".
Have subsequently tried accessing Safe Boot again to try and reset permissions, but can not access as unit constantly freezes at Login page.
Have followed Apple support recommendations to access Safe Boot, but to no avail.
Have seen forum references to the above error relating to iOS mobile devices causing problems with earlier versions of iTunes updates.
Any suggestions as to how to proceed from here would be appreciated ?

I suggest you backup your files, if possible, then do the following:
Clean Install of Snow Leopard
Be sure to make a backup first because the following procedure will erase
the drive and everything on it.
     1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
         with your computer. Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
         After the chime press and hold down the "C" key. Release the key when you see
         a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
     2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
         button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
         After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
         size.) Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window. Set the number of
         partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
         and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
         (Journaled, if supported), then click on the Apply button.
     3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer. Proceed
         with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
     4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
         Assistant. Be sure you configure your initial admin account with the exact same
         username and password that you used on your old drive. After you finish Setup
         Assistant will complete the installation after which you will be running a fresh
         install of OS X. You can now begin the update process by opening Software
         Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your installation current.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.
Reinstall your third-party software from the original media. Restore your data from the backup.

Mac Air will not switch on again

My Mac Air went completely black a couple of weeks ago and would not turn on. I have tried both the 'fixes' recommended by Apple support that time but it happened again yesterday.
I've tried thier suggestion of; SMC reset (ctrl, shift, alt and power hold) and also RP SMC (alt,cmd,P,R power and wait for the two chimes) but neither bring it back to life.
Its only two and a half years old - I thought apple products were more reliable. Apple support oddly go home at the weekend so I'm stuffed until Monday.
Do you have any other suggestions I could try?

The same is happining to me! i really need to get my school work, but its not turnig on ive tried everything and i dont even hear the two chimes... i have lots of apple products and not all of them are THAT bad...altough my mac air isn't working properly any more.

HAVE NEW 13.3 MAC AIR AND when using it to open sites in safari I have no issue until I go to a link page that is a pdf file or I am trying to save the screen info as a pdf. I only get a black screen with no data, cannot find solution in help menu

when i open sites in safari the page opens fine if it is not a pdf based page.
Once i open a site that has a link to another page that is a pdf based page the page comes up as a black screen with no info showing
If I open a site that gices me an open to save a file to a word, excel type document or a pdf , everything works fine until I try to save the information to a PDF and again the screen goes black
I have tried the safari help site but to no avail, does anyone have a solution to thid problem. (I do have the abode ofr mac program loaded)

If you delete all the Adobe Reader stuff it will probably fix this. For almost everything, the Apple pdf handling works better.

Is there a simple way of linking the same excel folder on my imac and mac air, so as the one on my imac would automacily update when i return home, from the mac air? Fairly new to all this, so any help would be appreciated.

Open a Finder window and you should have a folder called iClouDrive in your home folder. Drag your documents or folders you want to share into this folder and it will be available on your other computer (look in the same folder).
As already mentioned Dropbox is a good solution; however, I like to use my free 5 GB from Apple's iCloud because I am not using very much space there. I reserve my Dropbox for other uses such as family photo and recipe sharing.
