I brought a macbook air 11 inch mid 2013 since i have updated mountain lion it shuts down automatically I have done SMC reset still I have the same issue... any suggestions??/

the thing is that when i did the clean install they did check with a hardware test first and nothing was wrong, i guess it was a false-positive, is there anything in the kernel report from which i can say it's either hardware or software related

  • MacBook Air 11-inch, Mid 2013 won't boot with external USB keyboard

    Hello,
    Just bought a MacBook Air 11-inch, Mid 2013 (8GB, i7, 512GB SSD) today.
All available software updates are installed (OS X 10.8.4 (12E3067)).
Also have a Macbook Pro Retina.
If I connect a external USB keyboard (Kinesis Advantage Pro USB) to the Air then it don't boots.
If the keyboard is connected directly to the Air USB port then it don't shows the Apple logo on grey background after power on, just give a endless loop of the turning on sound.
If the keyboard is connected to the Thunderbolt display then same empthy grey screen after power on and no sound at all.
The same keyboard and Thunderbolt display work well with my Macbook Pro Retina and a Macbook Air 2011.
    Any ideas ?
    Thanks,
    Karsten

I like it very much. I use it on my iPad (and occasionally my iPhone). I'm kind of a keyboard snob actually. I tried the Apple wireless keyboard first. Apple keyboards have a short throw that hurts the tips of my fingers. They're very pretty but the on button turns on when I don't want it to and my iPad wakes up in my bag. Strike 1.
I went to a little keyboard called the Joy and it had a positive switch so I didn't have the wakeup problem. It worked well though after several months I wore it out and had to replace it with another one. I also didn't like how flat it sat and used rubber bumpers on the back. It too had a short throw that hurt my finger tips after a while but it was better than the Apple.
Then I discovered the Logitech bluetooth keyboard, the K811. This is a great keyboard. It switches between multiple targets with one press, it has a positive on/off switch, the keys light up, it's rechargeable and lasts a long time, and the slight cushioning on the keys keeps my fingers from hurting. I put the rubber bumpers on it though like the Joy because I like the keyboard to sit up a little. It's a tiny bit bigger than the other keyboards but I like it a lot, better than my MBA keyboard and better than my iMac wired keyboard. I'm trying out an after market keyboard on the iMac now but I'm thinking about switching to one of these for the iMac.

  • My MacBook Air (11-inch, Mid 2013) Flash Drive replaced twice in one week?

My MacBook Air (11-inch, Mid 2013) crashed a week ago, and Apple repair replaced SSD. Last night, it crashed again. I'm taking it in to have the SSD replaced again! I saw Apple's Flash Drive Replacement Program for the earlier MBA's, so why haven't they fixed this problem?

Thanks for the quick reply...The battery may last three or so days with lots of sleep time and intermitant use...Here's the info you asked for:

  • HT1237 Why does my MacBook Air (11-inch, Mid 2011) has the SMC version (1.74f3)?

According to the article (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1237), the latest SMC version of MacBook Air should be 1.73f65 (SMC 1.6). However, I found the SMC version is 1.74f3, which should be MacBook Air (13-inch)'s.
    Can someone tell me why?

  • I have a Macbook Air (11-inch Mid 2012) that is running OS X Yosemite. Every time that I shut down the computer, then turn it back on I receive a notification as it logs in that says "You shut down your computer because of a problem".

I can't find out what that problem is. Any advice? Any ideas even as to what it might be? I haven't heard about this happening elsewhere.

  • TS4516 How can I free up storage on a Macbook air 11-inch, mid 2012?

I have tried everything..., deleting pictures, videos, random documents, cleaning up all I know how to do and I still have zero space left in storage...., besides getting an external harddrive (which I will) WHAT ELSE CAN I DO NOW?!

So why is this here in Boot Camp forum? are you using Windows or wanting to install Windows using Boot Camp?
With the Air not sure about internal upgrades but were you using TimeMachine? maybe you have some pending backups.
Don't use it until you can figure it out. That means boot into Recovery Mode and repair the disk for one thing. Running a Mac on zero free space is asking for the directory to your files to totally fail. Less than 10% free is dangerous (should alert when you get to 10GB free space if it were smart).

Re: I'm getting this error with bootcamp "The startup disk does not have enough space to be partitioned"Aug 20, 2012 7:26 PM (in response to jobu00)Boot Camp must be able to allocate a contiguous block of space on the drive. If it cannot find 10 GBs of contiguous space, then you cannot create the Windows partition.
You will have to backup your OS X partition to an external drive, boot from the external drive, use Disk Utility to repartition and reformat your hard drive back to a single volume, then restore your backup to the internal hard drive.
Get an empty external hard drive and clone your internal drive to the external one.
Boot from the external hard drive.
    Erase the internal hard drive.
Restore the external clone to the internal hard drive.
Clone the internal drive to the external drive
Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
Select the destination volume from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Check the box labeled Erase destination.
Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the external backup drive. Source means the internal startup drive.
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager appears.  Select the icon for the external drive and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    After startup do the following:
    Erase internal hard drive
Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
After DU loads select your internal hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.  Do not quit Disk Utility.
Restore the clone to the internal hard drive
Select the destination volume from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Check the box labeled Erase destination.
Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the internal hard drive. Source means the external startup drive.
Note that the Source and Destination drives are swapped for this last procedure.

    Hi,
Had similar issue with the same model. It works with power adapter plugged in, but not with battery alone.
You need to get the battery replaced.
    Cheers,

  • My MacBook Pro will connect to WiFi but will not work in one location but will at others. I have the same issue with my IPhone 4S at the same location.

My MacBook Pro will connect to Wifi at one location (this is a secure location) but will not allow access to the internet.  I will put in the password but will not display page.  Other wifi capable devises do not have this issue but my Mac and my Iphone 4S will not work.  I have tried restarting the router.  All other wifi locations I have been to have not had this issue.  Any suggestions? I am realtively new to Apple products (less than a year) so any advise is greatly appreciated.

The other devices that are working got on with the same password.  It says it is connected.  Just nothing works on the internet.
