I called Apple twice about iCloud being down

I called Apple for a second time this morning about my mail being down for two days. The man gave me no explanation, even after I asked for one, explaining I use this account for work and need to know when this will be repaired. I guess I asked him too many questions because he hung up on me! Wow, Apple! What is going on there? I've been a MobileMe subscriber for years before they did away with it. They wouldn't return my money last year, even after they cancelled the service two days after I re-subscribed. I definitely didn't get what I paid for and now they are treating their customers terribly. They really need to explain.

Since tuesday afternoon (9//11) I can't use e-mail on my MacBookPro and my iPhone 4S. iCloud is down, also the webmail function. My clients are sending me e-mails for work, and I don't recieve them. I'm losing clients now! I think its outrageous that it takes so long, and that it is not communicated to the Apple users.
I'm an Apple user since 12 years, and right now they wont even talk to me:-(

    I called Apple Canada about the 'whine' on my 15" MBP. The customer service person I spoke to asked me what the problem was. I explained that my MBP had a whine that I wasn't happy with. He had asked where did I hear the 'whine'. I told him that it was obviously behind the keyboard and concentrated more in the middle of the keyboard. He asked if the whine was always there, even when I turn the brightness all the way down. I told him yes. Then he told me that because of the the dual core processor used to fit in such a small space, it was normal for the this 'whine' and that it was normal operation: there was nothing wrong with my MBP. I've tried running Comic Life or iChat, and whenever either of those apps are running, my MBP is dead silent (less the HD running of course). Is this 'whine' normal or is it the same defect that lots of people here are posting on this forum? If this is indeed a defect, what is it that I've got to do to convince Apple that my unit is defective? Your comments would be appreciated. BTW, its a 15" MBP with 2 gig Ram, 100Gig HD, 2.16GHz processor, bought in Feb when it first came out.

    You can see what your iCloud storage is used for and delete any unwanted content at settings > iCloud > backup & storage > manage......

    I can#t access icloud mail since yesterday afternoon CET. What is the matter?

    Yes, poor service from Apple on this one. This time yesterday % withput Mail was 0.17 Now it is 1.1%.  That must be quite a number of users. Why are not more people kicking up a fuss? Mail out for over 24 hours is bad.

    When creating my apple ID many many years ago, i didn't provide a rescue email and becasue of that i couldn't reset my security questions by myself and had to contact apple support, like it says on the support article: "
    Note: The option to send an email to reset your security questions and answers will not be available if a rescue email address is not provided. You will need to contact iTunes Store support in order to do so.  "
    The person that i spoke to, told me that I have two options: 1. to pay 20$ and to continue the conversation or 2.to reset my apple ID password.Before choosing, I asked her if she's sure that reseting my password (which i didn't foreget) will help me recover my security questions because i read something else on the support article... then she got a little comfused (she didn't know what a rescue email was..) and transfered my call to someone else who helped my reset my security questions.
    Wel...my question is, do you think i will have to pay for this call? i didn't say to her that i choose to pay and didn't provide any payment details

    And they said...8AM EST (that's my time zone, anyway) on FRIDAY MORNING. What the heck!!!! Verizon said midnight, then I called back and they said they didn't know. But I actually called Apple twice to get two different people and they said 8AM...

    I've just called Apple in the UK. They told me that they haven't had official confirmation yet themselves, but they are pretty sure that telephone orders will start at 8am BST (UK daylight savings time). They don't know yet what time the online ordering will start.

    If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup).
    If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present.
    You may have to force iPad/iPod into Recovery Mode

    Not all movies qualify for download on demand from iTunes in the Cloud, the rights may be reserved by the content provider and can vary by region. What response have you had from iTunes Store support?
    If you have still have the computer they were on it might be possible to extract the hard drive, mount it in an external drive bay and recover the content from it.

    The recommended solution for most families is to share the same Apple ID for iTunes and App Store purchases, so you can share your purchases, but us different IDs for iMessage, FaceTime and iCloud.  With this arrangement, each person can automatically download purchases made on the shared ID (by turning this feature on in Settings>iTunes & App Stores), while keeping their FaceTime calls, text messages and iCloud data (including photo stream) separated.  There is no requirement that the ID you use for purchasing be the same as the ID you use for these other services.

    If you lost that much it just tells me you did not have a backup of your computer.  If I had an iTunes account I would always have multiple backups of all purchases so I would never have to re-download anything.
    2 step verification is good.  There's fewer posts like yours about people being locked out than there used to be about people getting their accounts hacked.  If you have thousands of dollars of things in your account you should realize how much value you have in the thing.  Would you like if it your bank made it as easy for somebody to get access to your savings account?

  • Does Apple know about bug in Timer that shows minutes but counts down seconds?

    I have a couple of times changed my timer from a few minutes down past zero to 59 or so to time out about an hour.  But the timer, while still showing minutes count down seconds.  This image is a captured screen shot as it is counting down seconds.  But when I cancel the timer, I get which shows the 59 minutes I expected to get.  If I press Start at this point, it will count down seconds.  If I attempt to reproduce conditions, by going to 8 or 9 minutes, then canceling and going to 59 minutes, it works.  It may be that you have to run the timer down to alarm and then try the lower setting.

    Is the address on your iTunes account exactly the same (format and spacing etc) as on your credit card bill : http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1646 ? If it is then you could try what it says at the bottom of that page :
    If the issue persists, contact your credit card company and verify that they and any company they use to process credit card authorisations have the correct information on file.

  • This isn't a question but rather a warning to anyone using the new OS for iphone 4.  The imessage uses up your data plan like crazy.  I called Apple about it and they said no it's not doing it.  I called AT

    The new OS is burning through my data plan like crazy and here's why.  Imessage uses your data plan and not your texting plan.  So every time you send a text message to someone with an iphone it uses imessage and it uses your data, not your text plan.  I couldn't figure out why I was burning through so much of my data plan so quickly.  I called Apple and they said, no it's not the data plan doing it.  I called AT&T and they said, yes, the imessage uses data instead of your texting plan if you are texting to another iphone.  Also, the new OS runs your apps all the time, even when you aren't using them.  So if you are not near wifi your apps are running and burning your data plan.  The AT&T guy took me through the steps to turn off the apps.  You can still use them but they won't be running constantly.  Seriously Apple, you should let people know this.  It does say it in the fine print on the website "data rates may apply" under imessage but most people will never read this.  So my data plan started on October 10th and it's already at 175 megabytes and I only have a 200 megabyte plan.  I've never used more than 50 to 75 megabytes in a month.  Apple get it together and be honest with people and tell them.  Quit denying the problem.  Most people have probably not even discovered this yet.  Wait till you get your bill.

    I'll ask again - without a wifi connection, just what did you think was happening?  How did you think your iPhone was able to magically send a message WITHOUT using any data connection?  A little bit of rational thought would have made you realize that there was no way, over a 3G connection (which is a service provided by your cellular service provider, NOT Apple), that you can send or receive ANYTHING without your service provider's plan picking it up.
    Nothing abut iMessage has ever hinted that it can, in any way, bypass your service provider when NOT using a wifi connection.
