I can access the Internet but unable to access apps

I am actually on my iPod as I ask this question, but I cannot access YouTube, iTunes, or any of my apps that require Internet. But I can still use Safari!! I've tried to reset my network settings and connect to different wifi networks but nothing works. Help!!!

All I can suggest is to:
- Restore from backup
- Reset all settings Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts
and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore ot factory defaults/new iPod

  • I can use the internet but can't connect to itunes store or software update

I recently moved, and now have cable internet (I used to use Airport). Ever since the new connection, I can use the internet through browsers, but when I go to the iTunes store, it can't connect. same with Software update.

    Hi linnedw;
May I welcome you to the Apple Discussion Forums.
It sounds like your new connection to the web has some ports blocked. Could you please provide us with more details as to exactly how you are now connecting to the web?

  • Can use the internet but only one computer at a time...

I have a very old PC with no ethernet ports and i have one macbook pro. I just bought an airport base station and have connected it to my modem via an ethernet cable, and the modem is then connected to my PC via USB.
This set up allows me to connect wirelessly with my macbook pro, but if i want to connect to the net via my PC it won't let me...unless i turn off the base station and then reboot the modem. but now i can't connect wirelessly.
Apple guys say, because I'm not connected directly to the PC from the base station (due to no ethernet ports) I'll never get round this problem. Before I give up, is there any thoughts on how i can resolve this catch 22?
Macbook Pro Mac OS X (10.4.6)

When I encountered the same problem a while back, I discovered that I had mistakenly connected the ethernet cable from my modem into one of the <-----> (ethernet) port on the back of my Airport instead of the O (WAN) port.
It belongs in the O port.
I hope your problem is this simple to solve.

  • TS1398 i can have the internet but not the itunes app. why?

I have been trying to get these ipads to work for weeks.
Both of them all of a sudden worked last night after week of not working but when I got up this moring they both wouldn't connect to Apps.
    Yes they are updated
    I did check network
i have been able to get the account up
I did turn it off and then back on again
I did turn the power and home button off and still not working
Any ideas, this is suckish not having apps

If you still can't connect to the App Store - and you are getting the can't connect to the iTunes Store message, look here at Apple's troubleshooting tips for that particular issue.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1368
If nothing in there helps, take a look at this article for some other tips that might help.
    http://ipadinsight.com/ipad-tips-tricks/best-fixes-for-cannot-connect-to-itunes- store-errors/
You keep saying that you can't connect to Apps. There is no "Apps" to connect to on the iPad. We assume that you are talking about the App Store. But any further explanation that you can provide could be helpful in resolving this problem for you.
Are you getting an error message? Do the apps load in the App Store?
BTW .... You might want to try restarting/rebooting your router - even though you can get Internet. Sometimes it helps. Unplug it from power for about 30 seconds and then plug it in again.

  • Can browse the internet, but can't log in to sites such as ebay/play/yahoo

Using either my Powerbook, or a friends MacBook, at his home using a 2WIRE wirelessly, or with ethernet cables, we can successfully browse any websites but as soon as we try to log in to sites requiring data from the Macs (passwords ect) the Mac's freeze on the pages as we try and log in.
As data seems to flow into the Macs no problem, it's my guess something is going wrong as the Mac's try to send data back out through the 2WIRE to websites requiring user names and passwords. Any ideas what to do?

    Hi D P T!
    You could completely reset Safari.
The instructions are for Tiger 10.4.x, as I have not installed my Leopard 10.5.x upgrade, but the process may be the same.
If some of what I posted is significantly different, or nonexistent in Leopard, post that info before proceeding.
    To Reset Safari:
    Load Safari.
From the Safari contextual menu, select Empty Cache
From the Safari contextual menu, select Reset Safari.
Check all options and click Reset.
When that has completed, quit Safari.
Navigate to HD > Users > Your Account > Library > Preferences:
In that folder, locate and move to the Trash, this file com.apple.Safari.plist, and if present, com.apple.Safari.plist.saved.
Navigate to HD > Users > Your Account > Library > Safari.
In that folder, move to the Trash all items except Bookmarks.plist.
Navigate to HD > Users > Your Account > Library > Caches > Safari.
In that folder, move to the Trash, any items that appear.
    Empty the Trash.

  • HT3406 After the steps suggested, does it mean i can "remove" the SIM card and use my iphone via WIFI? i can browse the internet but cannot make phone calls right?

Is the wifi card a build in in ipod/ipad? yet build in on SIM card in iphone?

But on WiFi, could I still use Skype to make a phone call? I have a camera adapter for the iPhone 4 and would just use it as a camera and to play music after I upgrade to a later versionof iPhone. Am I correct in assuming that I could still do everything except connect through 3G?

  • HT201270 I can access the internet, but i have no signal. Checked with provider, all fine on their end... Help please!

I hav a new sim, and the provider (vodafone) said there is no problems on their end. I can use the internet, but cant make calls or texts or recieve them either... please help

    Thanks for your help firstly.
No I don't have any firewall that I know of that could affect the Desktop app.  I have reviewed the link you sent across and the results are as follows:
    1. Make sure you can connect to the internet.
Yes, internet is all good... no problems here.
    2. Make sure that you can access secure sites:
Yes, I can access secure sites as tested by the example in the list (https://www.adobe.com).
    3. Check your hosts file.
Test successful after going to: https://lm.licenses.adobe.com
Moving on to reset the hosts file...
I've followed the instructions and I get to "Select the hosts file and open it".
If I simply double click, then the default is to open in TextEdit.
Once open, I go to find File > Save As, but it only says, "Save a Duplicate" and then once I save a duplicate, I don't know where to save it because the Save window only shows the basic folders and I don't know how to get back into the /etc folder from the Private files.
    More instructions please, if possible?
    Thanks again

  • I'm able to access the internet but have no sound on videos?

I'm able to access the internet but unable to ge sound from videos utilizing Safari?

Contact the develpers of that app, which is not an Apple product for support.  You can find the developer contact info in the description of that app in the App Store or Google it.

  • TS1398 My ipad is connected to the wi-fi and i can it thruogh my apps but my notifications bar does not show the icon and unable to download apps from app store

I have an ipad 3 wifi+cellular, recently my ipad though connected to the wi-fi stopped showing the wi-fi icon on the top bar.I can use the internet on safari and other apps, but unable to download apps from store

Are you sure that your iPad is connected to WiFi? It may be using cellular data.
Go to Settings > WiFi and see if you are connected.

  • We bought an iphone 4s for our daughter. We transfered it to straight talk. She can make calls and text no problem. She can use the WiFi but is unable to use the internet or mms. How do we update the APN?

We bought an iphone 4s for our daughter. We transfered it to straight talk. She can make calls and text no problem. She can use the WiFi but is unable to use the internet or mms. How do we update the APN?

To clarify for anyone who is still having any problems doing this.
    1. Unlock your phone with the carrier ( I know the process will work if it is jail broken but I am assuming you dont want to void the warranty on your phone) NOTE: even if you purchased the phone outright at Wal-Mart it is still locked to ATT so you will have to unlock the phone.  If it's already unlocked skip to step 2.  This works and will work even if you update the phone.
1a Here is the link to unlock a ATT iphone. Simply follow the instructions https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/client/en_US/
    2. Get a T- mobile SIM. Even if you don't want the service, if you feign interest, they will send you one for free or 99cents. If you need it now you can get one at a T-mobile store too.
    3. Once you have both your Straight talk SIM and your T-mobile SIM follow these instructions:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFFf5uqk18M
    4. If you have any remaining questions look at all the responses posted previously on this thread or check out the Howard Forums Wiki: http://wiki.howardforums.com/index.php/Straight_Talk_iPhone
Everything should work flawlessly at this point.  If not let me know and I'm happy to help when I can.  I hope this makes doing this very easy for everyone in the future. God Bless -J

Hi, I'm working on an Imac, yesterday email was working fine, now nothing is happening. It says that I need a password to check details - this I can't remember, it doesn't seem to be the same as the one I use to log on to mail through browser (talktalk) - message says can connect to internet but error with port settings etc which need verifying. Talktalk unable to help further - but as I can't get past password page I am very stuck. Any one help as to how to find out password.... have tried to make a new account but that doesn't seem to wrok either. Am wondering if fault is with computer. Thanks.

  • Showing as connected to the internet but can't get...

    Hi,
This is my first post so apologies in advance if I'm using this incorrectly!
I have BT Infinity and have had very few problems since getting it but for the last few days I have been unable to get online. I've called BT a few times and it is showing that I'm connected to the internet so they felt it may be an issue with the Home Hub so are sending me another. In the meantime I have bought another router and connected this to the modem etc and it is showing as being connected to the internet but I still am unable to get online. This is both when connected via an Ethernet cable or wirelessly and is the same across all devices (pc, ipad, iPhone etc). As I say, it is showing as connected to the internet but I can't get online at all. I can via BT Openzone so I know my various devices are working.
I am almost certain the new Home Hub will not help. It's driving me mad. Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.

If as you say,you have tried the HH and other routers, and have reset and rewired the connections to the OR modem with no joy, then it leaves only 2 possible causes.
1)The RJ11 cable from the OR modem to the master socket might be faulty.
2)But it is most likely to be a fault in the line from the master to the cabinet,or a very noisy line.
You might need an engineer visit to check at the cab or the line.
Your local network seems to be in order,as it is indicating a network connection, but if the line is faulty to the cab, then you would not be able to get a stable connection,or no internet.

  • TS3297 i can get on the internet but it says no connection in itunes

I'm really confused it says I cannot connect to the internet on app store but I can use the internet in safari???? It also says I can't connect to the server on some of the games I have but not others

    Hello blob1307,
I would also be concerned if I could not connect to the iTunes or App Stores on my iPod touch.  I found an article with some steps to troubleshoot this:
Troubleshooting on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
If you haven't been able to connect to the iTunes Store:
Make sure that your iOS software is up to date by connecting your iOS device to iTunes and clicking on Check for Update in your device's Summary page in iTunes.
Check and verify that you are in range of a Wi-Fi router or base station. If you are on a 3G capable device, make sure that cellular data is turned on from Settings > General > Cellular.
Note: If connected to 3G, larger items may not download. You may need to connect to Wi-Fi to download apps, videos, and podcasts.
Check to make sure you have an active internet connection. You can check the User Guide for your device for help with connecting to the internet.
Check to make sure other devices (portable computers, for example) are able to connect to the Wi-Fi network and access the internet.
Try resetting (turning off and then on again) your Wi-Fi router
If the issue still persists see, iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections or iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections.
Note: All iPhone, and iPod touch models support 802.11b/g Wi-Fi networks. In addition, iPhone 4, and iPod touch (4th generation) support 802.11n Wi-Fi networks (2.4 GHz only).
