I can buy music in itunes, but I can't get my ipod to update

I am connected to the internet. I download music all the time but I need to update my ipod and when I try to update my ipod it tells me that I am not connected to the internet? What do I do?

If you've forgotten the answers to your security questions and you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then you can try going to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you might see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.

How can I get my iPod to update when it says the server cannot be connected?

Whenever I try to update my iPod it says, "The iPod software update server could not be contacted. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later." It does this every time. How can I get it to update? Any help is much appreciated, thanks!

- Try on another computer/network

Well So I have been purchasing music from iTunes which the songs cost 1.25 for 5 songs.Which those songs never showed up into my music neither my downloads. So I went to go check iTunes and so I checked, and the songs were there! It said I needed to buy them again (RIP OFF) And you know I buy all of my music on iTunes and none of the album pictures are showing which now I am afraid that they will get deleted... What happens when you try to redownload them by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Did you get a receipt for the purchases? Maybe you never actually purchased them

My Dad deleted every single one of my files from my computer, with no backup. Consequently I have not one scrap of music left-however, I have it all on my iPod. It has always been very basic to maintain a backup of the important files and data on your computer.

If you do not have a German credit card and billing address there is nothing that you can do to purchase music. The record labels forbid cross border sales.

How to reset your Apple ID security questions
Go to appleid.apple.com and click on the blue button that says 'Manage Your Apple ID'.
Log in with your Apple ID and password. If you have forgotten your Apple ID password, go to iforgot.apple.com first to reset your password with a password recovery email.
Go to the Password & Security section on the left side. Then underneath the security questions click on the link that says 'Forgot your answers? Send reset security info email to [email]'. This will generate an automated e-mail that will allow you to reset your security questions.
If that doesn't work, or there is no rescue email link available, then you will need assistance from Apple Account Security. Follow this procedure:

O.K. Everything seems to be in order now!
I don't know what happened but this is the results....
After attempting to edit change the information on my iTunesMS account at least 7 times, I posted the above question, logged out of iTunes, closed down all my apps and turned off my computer.
A few hours later, I thought I would give it one more try and when I turned on iTunes, went to the Music Store and then 'reviewed' my account... it had my old American address on it with the country listed as Sweden... I just left it alone, as it didn't have my credit card info listed at all... Curiously, I'm clueless about that (though I did send this same complaint to Apple during the first posting... did that have anything to do with it?) When I clicked the continue button (without changing any info) it prompted me that I was finished setting up my iTunes Music Store account and I was immediately able to download some songs....(using the iTunes Music card--- I have not tried my MasterCard!)
So basically, I did nothing except close iTunes, turn off my computer and later rebooted it and opened iTunes! Strange... does that seem like a fix or what?

are you connected directly to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Is the master the only phone socket in your home?
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal

WIndows is asking you to reformat the iPod's hard disk because it's probably in the Mac OS X Extended Journaled file system format which the Windows OS can neither read or write to. Reformatting will erase all content from the device and rebuild the filesystem as FAT32 unless you specify it as NTFS (which you shouldn't do).
If you want to be able to use your iPod to copy music from your Mac to your PC, you'll need to either pre-format it as FAT32 using Disk Utility on your Mac and then copy everything over to your PC, or use third party software such as XPlay that allows a Windows PC to read and write to a Mac formatted iPod.
