I can change my apple ID for iPad, but my iPhone keeps an ancient one, and I can't change it.

Several years ago I set up a password for AppleStore on my iPhone, but something's gone wrong and it doesn't work.
The right solution seemed to be to get it to match my new iPad AppleStore password (which I guess is just my Apple password).
System support helped me get access to AppleStore working from my iPad.
But my iPhone somehow clings to my ancient outdated username, and I cannot change it in any way that I can find.
I thought that there was just ONE AppleStore password, but I guess not.
I want to make the AppleStore password for my iPhone match my AppleStore password for my iPad.
I changed my Apple password yet again today. (For my current email address, of course.)
How can I get my iPhone to use this new email-address/password also for AppleStore when I try to use my *iPhone*?
(Alas it always prompts me for my password to my outdated, obsolete, and no longer used previous email account.)

P.S. I'm also just guessing about exactly which product and exactly what OS my iPhone using (probably 4 something, and perhaps iOS 6 something, but I sincerely hope that my lack of knowledge of hunting this information down on my iPhone doesn't pose an insuperable problem).

Different services on your iOS device (iMessage, Facetime, iCloud, iTunes and App Store) can be signed into with an Apple ID of your choice. Make sure you verify the settings for each device and that you are signed in to each service with the correct Apple ID.
I'll do an example for iMessage:
1) Go to settings on your iOS device
2) Select "Messages"
3) Select "Send & Receive"
4) At the very top you will see "Apple ID", by selecting your Apple ID, you will now have the option to sign out of messages with the current Apple ID, and sign in with the new one.
The steps for changing your Apple ID for other services will be very similar.

This should clear up on its own and allow you to delete the account, however it can take 3-5 days before this happens.

Will the protective skins and Apple case for ipad interfere the reception?

I have a case (apple) but no skin and I have had no problem with wifi connectivity when using it. Can't speak to 3G as my iPad is wifi only.

I am relatively new to apple (have an iPad) and having been a PC user for years I was pleasantly surprised with the apple experience and am now trying to work out the best set up for me, my husband and young son as I am buying them both of them apple products this Christmas. New Mac laptop/ ipad for hubby and then an ipod touch for my son oh and a new mac laptop for me. We are also thinking of moving from Blackberries to iPhones. Yes we seem to be hooked! but i am unsure about the home family set up and how to replace my PC network that I run off an 8TB server.
In reading the forums I keep seeing people talk about problems they have with two apple IDs and trying to merge them. I have also heard about a family ID allowing us to share apps legally. I am really nervous of setting us up wrong and then having problems later and hence i am now looking for some advice on how to share as much as we can legally but also make usage practical and not invading each others privacy. thoughts so far:
Music - I think we are happy to share the same music and access using one ID (we currently don't buy much music from apple but have lots of CDs we share).
Photos - It would be nice to share photos - as long as my son or husband cannot accidentally delete photos of mine (which is my biggest concern). I currently load all camera photos onto my 8TB storage box as the network owner and my husband has full access to copy any photo to his laptop but can never delete the original copies by accident.
Apps - If possible i would like us to share these but they are cheap enough these days to separate if really needed. Would be good to share licence for pages etc though

I have near 300 contacts now through work etc and he will not want them plus i will not want his or him being able to delete mine by mistake. and then for email and facetime, well I want to give him his privacy so I do not receive his messages etc. especially now that we are considering switching to iPhones
Then last but not least, i don't know the best solution for my son. he is only 7 years old so even though I don't want to pay for things again I don't want him being able to download "just any" app from the purchased icon in Appstore. And just in case you were wondering, installing one purchased copy on all the Macs you own is specifically called out as allowed in the Mac OS X Lion license.
If you do not want to download multiple times, just copy the Applications -> Install Lion app to a safe place BEFORE you do the first install. Then copy that copy to any Mac you own where you want to install Lion.

You can't willy nilly download apps from the store for another country.
To use a specific country's App Store you must be a legal resident of that country, provide a abnk card issued by a bank in that country, that has a verifiable billing address in that country.

First on a computer try editing your ID to change the payment method to None.

You really don't want to do that, operate an iPad with 2 different ID's.
I'm presuming you have a work iPad and you want to put some non work bought apps on it. You will have issues, like half the iPad not working while the other half does.
Probably not something you want to explain to your IT department.
