I can feel the earth on the body of the mbp while charging, is it safe ?

i feel a kind of low electric charge on the body of the mbp, while its connected to the charger, and mostly all time its connected.
i googled and found the reason that, its because the pin of the charger is 2 pin and it doesnt have the earth pin in it . tht current isnt dangerous i think , as it feels good to rub on the surface.
But my question is , is it safe for the mbp. ?
i am afraid , tht it may affect the internal parts, something like that.
Pls advice me.

I feel the same in my iphone4. While charging through electricity i can feel the charge in the headphone slot.
For ex- when i am charging my phone and talking at the same time my ear is in contact with the headphone slot which is on the upper part of the iphone. And i can feel the charge in my ear. Charge is low.
Plz lemme knw if its fine or do i need to visit the service center.

Are you getting power from a grounded source? In cold low humidity weather, it would be normal for a static electricity buildup to discharge to anything metal, like after walking over a carpet and touching a metal doorkknob. If that's what it is, it shouldn't be of any concern, but if you are getting that with no apparent reason for a buildup of static electicity, then that's not right.

  • Is it normal if I can feel the electricity around the edges of my new ipad?

When I charge my ipad, I can feel the electricity at the edge of my ipad. Is it normal or should I go for technical check? The electricity is mild but still not so comfortable with it..

Not normal. Take it to an Apple Store for evaluation.

  • Elecetricity leakage on the body of mac pro while charging

I bought a new mac pro a few days back and noticed that the body leaks current when connected to the charging point without the extension cord. I got the machine changed and after two days of waiting I got a machine with the same problem. Its a quality issue which Apple seems to be aware of but would not admit to me openly. I checked the forums and looks like this is a know problem the solution to which is to use the extension cord. Apple shld simply add an earthing pin to the white adaptor instead. Till then I will have to live with this defective machine and curse apple simply because I do not have the luxury of taking yet another day off from work and then wait for three day for the service centre to acsertain "that there indeed is a problem" and then go back on the third day to pick up the replacement. I have to admit that the service and quality was much below what I expected.

You can get Mifi devices (the iPad connects to it via wifi and they then give access to 3G networks). I've never used one and I don't know if they are available in Canada (and if so how much they would cost). If you have an iPhone then you could also use that as a mobile hotspot

    What is wrong with it?

    For your purposes?  Probably nothing.
If you want Apple to service the device under warranty, it has to be done at an Apple Authorized Service Provider.

  • Is it possible to play the iPod while charging it?

Is it possible? I am a dj and I use my iPod as a music source, but I need it to play for at least 4 hours.
Is it possible to use a power adapter to charge, and still be able to play music while charging?
If so, which accessories would be needed?
    Thanks!

Yes, I do this all the time.
You need a USB power adapter that connects an AC outlet to your USB cable and then to your iPod.
You can get one from Apple here:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB352LL/B?fnode=MTY1NDA4NA&mco=MTY1OTg1Nw
Or get one from other manufacturers (I have one from Griffin, my wife has one from DLO). Check the prices.

  • Does it harm the battery if we use the laptop while charging?

If we use while charging, is the power required directly taken from the external supply or from the battery itself. Which is the safest way to use the laptop without drawing power from the battery?

No harm is done. There is enough power from the adapter to run the laptop and charge the battery. There is hardware and software in place which prevents any problems. The laptop will not take power from the battery while the AC adapter is plugged in.

  • Does anyone have problems with the lightening to USB cable when charging from an outlet? After 6  months of use, it seems to wear out as a result of twisting caused by using the iPad while charging?

Does anyone else have problems with the lightening to USB cables, particularly the longer version, when using the iPad and charging at the same time?
If so, am I doing anything wrong?

Not using any mouse pad, I have a very smooth desktop. But I just tried to use a sheet of A4 printing paper, but no result, the problem persisted.
Someone on this forum suggested, that USB3 may interfere with the magic mouse.
I have 2 LaCie HDD's about 70 cm away from the mouse, I use them on Thunderbolt. But in operation or not - the result is the same, the mouse plays up! Just now I was clicking the desktop and the mouse created a new folder!!
    Thanks for the advice, Bee

  • My iPod Touch 5th generation is faulty, first the home button stopped working and now it's died completely, won't charge but I can feel the screen is heated. What is going on with this thing?

I bought this iPod mid-March, I've only had it for a little less than 5 months.  I bought it at Best Buy, I don't know if that matters or anything- I have a geek squad and apple warranty.  I'm only nineteen years old and this was my first real big purchase and I'm very disappointed.  I've had other iPods before and never had any issues with them, my last one lasted from 2008 - 2013.  I take very good care of my iPod Touch, never dropped it or anything of the sort and I keep it in a thick case.  This iPod worked fine up until recently.  First the home button became unresponsive, I had to activate the assistive touch because I use this iPod for school work.  I was about to take my iPod into Best Buy so they could take a look at it and see if there was anything they could do before I contacted apple, but now my iPod is completely dead.  It won't respond at all. I had to disconnect the charger because the iPod screen was getting hot and it wasn't charging.  It's been disconnected for a few hours and the screen still feels hot. I'm really concerned, especially with recent news reports of handheld devices overheating and burning people or even exploding.  Will the apple warranty cover this so I can get a new iPod?  What are my options?

If the iPod is defective and not abused Apple will exchange it at no cost under your warranty.

  • My Macbook Pro (15" early 2011) got blue screen every i normally booted it. It only can enter the OS when it's in safe boot. Solution please.

My Macbook Pro (15" early 2011, Mountain Lion, but after reinstall i change it to snow leo) got blue screen every i normally booted it. It enter the OS only when it's in safe boot.
I've tried any solution that i got from the internet, such as:
-Reinstalling the OS X (normal install & clean install)
    -Reset PRAM and SMC
-Repair Disk Permissions and Repair Disk from Disk Utility (the result is OK. There's no problem)
-Repair Disk Permissions manually (with Command + S at the beginning of booting)
-Checking Hardware from Application Installer DVD (result is OK)
-Checking from Mac Resource Inspector/MRI (result OK)
-Booting from Recovery Disk is same problem, blue screen
All of that solution is not working. My Macbook still got light blue screen and sometimes blue screen with lines after apple logo and spinning wheel is shown.
HDD is in good condition because when it's checked on the other macbook it can be booted. But if you must know, other HDD can't be booted when its plugged to my macbook (blue screen again). If i do safe booting, it works but can't play video and music also photobooth. I got confused with this case.
Any solution or comment? Thank you very much by the way

Hi. I'm not trying to rush things, you may have a different problem, but your issue looks quite familiar to me. I recently had a problem with the discrete graphics card (the Radeon GPU) due to overheating, all because a faulty application of the thermal compound in the factory.
In my case, the problem started slowly and intermittently, a few days after a gaming session (Quake 3) of about three hours (at the moment, I didn't realized that could be linked to the problem).
This issue is being actively discussed in another threads in this forum, but so far there's enough evidence that it's been causing similar problems for 2011 MBPs owners: screen corruption, black/blue screens, and in some cases, a total inability to boot. Some of the threads I'm talking about:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/13150366#13150366
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/21110132#21110132
So far, and since the problem seems to affect only the discrete GPU (that's why you can boot in safe mode) a possible solution is to disable it by removing some extensions which prevent OS X from loading the Radeon drivers. This post describing the process (there are different files involved depending of your GPU version, so make sure you are moving the right ones):
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/22521574#22521574
In the case your discrete GPU survived and is not permanently damaged, I personally had success by changing the thermal compound myself, which completely fixed the problem (at least for now). I've posted about it here:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/22630561#22630561
I hope you can find a solution, believe me I know the feeling when you see your expensive machine turning into a brick and it *****.
    Good luck!

  • One computer can use the network while another can't even see it?

    Hello helpful people...
I have a MacBook Pro (original release) and my roommate has an iBookG4. I have had a two-airport network system for years and never had a single issue with connectivity. About 2 months ago, my roommate's iBook started having trouble finding not only our network, but any network... now three shipments to Apple later, they have changed the airport card twice, the logic board, the RAM, etc. All other aspects of the computer seem to be working fine now, except that when I click on the airport icon at the top of the screen, it pulls up no networks. On my MacBook (sitting side by side with the iBook), I usually hit about 10 networks in my condo. Naturally, this would mean that there must still be something wrong with the airport card... but wait... it gets better.
When I take the iBook to the Apple Store... it works PERFECTLY. And I feel stupid. What the ****? Do any of you have any clue as to what is going on?
More specifically, if I type in the name of my network so that it can try to join. It keeps telling me that the password is invalid (and trust me... it's the right one). Also, if I EVER get it to connect to the network (it's hit or miss), it will self-assign an IP address and will never hit the internet. All of this is happening as I use my MacBook Pro on the same network and type this. I am so frustrated (as is my roommate).
Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Yes, you can do this. The registration doesn't have to be done on the same system the iPhone is going to be used with.

  • Wifi goes on and off, backlit keyboard doesn't work and no sound since Lion  upgrade. I can get the wifi back by going into safe mode and re booting(someone suggested on here), but can't let computer die or turn off or have to do it again.

My Wifi connection goes off if computer dies or shuts off, I can only make it work if I go into safe mode and reboot, it was just that, but now my keyboard doesn't light up like it's supposed to in low or no light and in system preferences it's like it doesn't exist.  Also, the sound doesn't work, I can't turn it up or down, it shows the sound icon grayed out and the anti symbol when I push F11 and F12, also it's like it doesn't exist in system preferences either. I have never had any problems with my MB Pro, I purchased in Feb. 2010. , but I upgraded to Lion last month, I haven't been using my laptop as much since I had an Ipad I given to me, so I think that's why I didn't notice these issues right away. What do I do? HELP!! Do I take it to Apple? I don't have the Apple care warranty, so will it be expensive for them to fix? Can I get my money back for Lion if I restore to Snow Leopard?

Take it to an Apple store or AASP. How much it will cost will depend on their determination of the problems. To bad you didn't purchase extended AppleCare. No you don't get your money back for purchasing Lion.
