I have tried to copy my Iphoto library from one to the other and I cant get it to load.
What happens when you try to open iPhoto on your MacBook Air on the copied iPhoto Library? Do you get an error message? What exactly happens?

How do I use migration assistant to load my new Macbook Air?  Can this be done only wirelessly?

No, you can transfer from a Mac wirelessly, wired ethernet, Thunderbolt or Firewire. Your older Mac must have the same connection, but you can use adaptors if necessary. For example, you can use an Ethernet cable with an Ethernet-Thunderbolt adaptor if your older Mac has an ethernet port.
Wireless tends to be pretty slow (can take many hours) so it's recommended to choose a wired connection whenever you can.

  • Can I migrate from PowerBook g4 to a new MacBook Air

I have a non intel PowerBook g4 Can I migrate from PowerBook g4 to a new MacBook Air

A Basic Guide for Migrating to Intel-Macs
The Knowledgebase article Intel-based Mac: Some migrated applications may need to be updated refers to methods of dealing with migrating from PowerPC chips to Intel with the Migration Assistant safely. The authors of this tip have not had a chance to verify this works in all instances, or that it avoids the 10.6.1 and earlier Guest Account bug that caused account information to get deleted upon use of the Migration/Setup Assistant. However, a well backed up source that includes at least two backups of all the data that are not connected to your machine will help you avoid potential issues, should they arise. In event it does not work, follow the steps below.
If you are migrating a PowerPC system (G3, G4, or G5) to an Intel-Mac be careful what you migrate.  Keep in mind that some items that may get transferred will not work on Intel machines and may end up causing your computer's operating system to malfunction.
Rosetta supports "software that runs on the PowerPC G3, G4, or G5 processor that are built for Mac OS X". This excludes the items that are not universal binaries or simply will not work in Rosetta:
      1. Classic Environment, and subsequently any Mac OS 9 or earlier applications
      2. Screensavers written for the PowerPC System Preference add-ons
      3. All Unsanity Haxies Browser and other plug-ins
      4. Contextual Menu Items
      5. Applications which specifically require the PowerPC G5 Kernel extensions
      6. Java applications with JNI (PowerPC) libraries
See also What Can Be Translated by Rosetta.
In addition to the above you could also have problems with migrated cache files and/or cache files containing code that is incompatible.
If you migrate a user folder that contains any of these items, you may find that your Intel-Mac is malfunctioning. It would be wise to take care when migrating your systems from a PowerPC platform to an Intel-Mac platform to assure that you do not migrate these incompatible items.
If you have problems with applications not working, then completely uninstall said application and reinstall it from scratch. Take great care with Java applications and Java-based Peer-to-Peer applications. Many Java apps will not work on Intel-Macs as they are currently compiled. As of this time Limewire, Cabos, and Acquisition are available as universal binaries. Do not install browser plug-ins such as Flash or Shockwave from downloaded installers unless they are universal binaries. The version of OS X installed on your Intel-Mac comes with special compatible versions of Flash and Shockwave plug-ins for use with your browser.
The same problem will exist for any hardware drivers such as mouse software unless the drivers have been compiled as universal binaries. For third-party mice the current choices are USB Overdrive or SteerMouse. Contact the developer or manufacturer of your third-party mouse software to find out when a universal binary version will be available.
Also be careful with some backup utilities and third-party disk repair utilities. Disk Warrior, TechTool Pro , SuperDuper , and Drive Genius  work properly on Intel-Macs with Leopard.  The same caution may apply to the many "maintenance" utilities that have not yet been converted to universal binaries.  Leopard Cache Cleaner, Onyx, TinkerTool System, and Cocktail are now compatible with Leopard.
Before migrating or installing software on your Intel-Mac check MacFixit's Rosetta Compatibility Index.

      7. OS X Lion: How to use Migration Assistant to transfer files from another Mac
Because Migration Assistant isn't the ideal way to migrate from PowerPC to Intel Macs, using Target Disk Mode, copying the critical contents to CD and DVD, an external hard drive, or networking will work better when moving from PowerPC to Intel Macs.  The initial section below discusses Target Disk Mode.  It is then followed by a section which discusses networking with Macs that lack Firewire.
If both computers support the use of Firewire then you can use the following instructions:
      1. Repair the hard drive and permissions using Disk Utility.
      2. Backup your data.  This is vitally important in case you make a mistake
          or there's some other problem.
      3. Connect a Firewire cable between your old Mac and your new Intel Mac.
      4. Startup your old Mac in Transferring files between two computers using FireWire.
      5. Startup your new Mac for the first time, go through the setup and
registration screens, but do NOT migrate data over. Get to your
desktop on the new Mac without migrating any new data over.
If you are not able to use a Firewire connection (for example you have a Late 2008 MacBook that only supports USB:)
    1. Set up a local home network: Creating a small Ethernet Network.
    2. If you have a MacBook Air or Late 2008 MacBook see the following:

Copy the following items from your old Mac to the new Mac:
In your /Home/ folder: Documents, Movies, Music, Pictures, and Sites folders.
    In your /Home/Library/ folder:
/Home/Library/Application Support/AddressBook (copy the whole folder) /Home/Library/Application Support/iCal (copy the whole folder)
Also in /Home/Library/Application Support (copy whatever else you need including folders for any third-party applications)
/Home/Library/Keychains (copy the whole folder) /Home/Library/Mail (copy the whole folder) /Home/Library/Preferences/ (copy the whole folder) /Home /Library/Calendars (copy the whole folder) /Home /Library/iTunes (copy the whole folder) /Home /Library/Safari (copy the whole folder)
    If you want cookies:
    /Home/Library/Cookies/Cookies.plist /Home/Library/Application Support/WebFoundation/HTTPCookies.plist
    For Entourage users:
Entourage is in /Home/Documents/Microsoft User Data Also in /Home/Library/Preferences/Microsoft.
Credit goes to Macjack for this information.
If you need to transfer data for other applications please ask the vendor or ask in the  Discussions where specific applications store their data.
    5. Once you have transferred what you need restart the new Mac and test to make sure the contents are there for each of the applications.

  • I can't find my migrated iTunes on my new macbook air.

I recently bought a new Macbook Air. I tried to migrate my information (using Migration Assistant) from my old pc right away when I was first setting up the computer, but it wouldn't let me. We found out later that, for some reason, my Macbook doesn't want to connect to out wireless router. We spent many hours and multiple days on the phone with tech people and thought it was fixed many times :/ But anyway, I finaly got at least my iTunes to complete the migration, but now I can't find where my music is. It's not in my library, but when I looked at my software usage on my computer, it shows that its all here.  I looked at other forums and I collected that it's a more difficult process to migrate information after you've already finished setting up the computer, but like I said, it wouldn't let us right away.  Also, when I go into finder, on the side menu bar under "Shared" it shows my pc, but when I click on it, it says connection failed.  I tried logging into it through Connect As, but it wouldn't let me log in.  I'm not very techy so this could be a very easy thing to fix, I'm just very sick of having so many problems with this new computer that I thought was going to make my life easier.. I appreciate any help you can give me!!
         Thanks,
         Abby

After the migration I can no longer see or access my backups on Time Capsule.
You have a new Mac. Have you been backing up the "new" Mac?  If not, that Mac has no backups...yet.
You do have backups of your other "older" MacBook Pro though.
You cannot "add on" or "continue" backups of the new Mac onto backups of the older Mac.
If you want to see the backups of your "older" Mac.......right-click or try control-click or option-click the Time Machine icon on the dock and select Browse Other Time Machine Disks

  • Can I migrate iWeb from my iMac to new MacBook Air?

I am running two web sites in iWeb on my iMac (hosted by  GoDaddy). I am buying a new MacBook Air and need to move iWeb to that machine. How is this possible?

You simply need to copy two files across to the new Mac: one is the iWeb application itself, and the other is a file called Domain which live in (user)/Library/Application Support/iWeb.
(Apple have hidden the user’s Library folder in Lion and Mountain Lion to casual viewers, in an attempt to stop new Mac users messing their machines up. To access it, in the Finder go to the ‘Go’ menu and hold down the Option (Alt) key; the Library folder will appear as a choice.)
However note that if your version of iWeb is v2 is is likely not to work well on Mountain Lion. iWeb is no longer sold, but you may be able to get a version of v3 by purchasing iLife 09 or 11 from Amazon or another retailer (or eBay).
Note that once you have made this move and are publishing from the new Mac you musn't publish anything from iWeb on the old Mac or you will mess things uup.

  • Why can't I connect to my shared computers for file sharing;I have 3 Macs and I can connect the other 2 but not my new Macbook air.

I have a black Macbook 4,1 running 10.7.5, an iMac 11,3 running 10.7.5 and a new Macbook Air 6,2 running 10.9.5., I have file sharing turned on on all machines. All machines are visible and I can connect all machines except for the Macbook Air. The Macbook air can see the other 2 Macs but does not connect to either of them or even give me the option to connect as a guest or a registered user. The other Macs connect to the Macbook Air but it will not connect with them. Any help is appreciated. Thank You.

After the latest update to my OSX 10.9.3 I ca see only two Display resolutions 1366 x 768 & 1152 x 648 when I choose scaled in my display preferences. As per Apple site the new MacBook Air 11" can show many display resolutions
    Supported resolutions:
    1366 by 768 (native), 1344 by 756, and 1280 by 720 pixels at 16:9 aspect ratio; 1152 by 720 and 1024 by 640 pixels at 16:10 aspect ratio; 1024 by 768 and 800 by 600 pixels at 4:3 aspect ratio
Please advise how can I set the resolution to 1280 by 720 pixels as this resolution was more comfortable to me.

  • Did you get a case/sleeve/briefcase for your new MacBook Air? Which One?

I'm wondering what is any case/sleeve/briefcase others bought for their new MacBook Air. I'm in the market, and feeling overwhelmed. If you've bought anything to carry/protect your Air, can you post the make model, and price? thanks!

I had been looking for a case / sleeve for my MBA 11" since I purchased it about two weeks after it was released. Today I re-visited Best Buy and they had a Targus 12" Netbook Slipcase that fits the MBA 11" just about perfectly. The Slipcase is 12.4" x 0.79" x 9.65" on the outside and 11.7" x 1,5" x 8.3" on the inside for the laptop. The MBA slips in the case with no need to squeeze it at all. There is no extra room on the side, but it fits beautifully. The top of the case has only about an extra inch or less. This is the best solution that I have seen thus far. It can be purchased for under $30.

  • How do I get my itunes library from my imac to macbook air

Mac's make many things really easy to manage. So, why is it so difficult to work out how to get itunes onto macbook air from iMac

You move the iTunes folder of the Music item in the Finder's sidebar as you would any other. This won't transfer rented movies or iTunes Store authorization.

  • I can't install iPhoto 11 app on second hand macbook air

    Hey,
On a second hand macbook air with formatted ssd disk + reinstalled Lion, I can't install ilife. It is already installed by another user (former owner of the macbook air ?).
How can this be solved ?
    Thx

Just an agreement with Csound1 - you need to begin again anew (is that repetitious?).
CleanMyMac has obviously made the installation of Adobe products impossible. Which products, specifically, are you trying to install and which versions? You should ALWAYS use the provided Adobe Uninstallers to uninstall an Adobe product. Kind of pointless information at this time, I know, but just as a reminder for 'next time,' when you surely will no longer be using CleanMyMac.

  • How can I put OSX 10.7 on a new Macbook Air. Maverick no longer allows "open file in a new window" and I really miss it. At the Apple Store they told me it can't be added to the new OSX 10.10 so I  want to change the OSX on the new Macbook Air and it

I have been using a 2012 Mac pro to do HD video editing. I bought a new portable Macbook Air only to find that Maverick no longer has "open files in a new window" which I use all the time in the very large folders of video clips and royalty-free music. I asked at the Apple Store how I could get this back on the Macbook Air and they said it couldn't be done so I thought I would re-format the HD and install 10.7 on it and was notified by the Macbook Air I can't put 10.7 on that computer. Apple use to give this as an option but now they have gone more to the attitude of "Do it our way or go to ****!" In anger I went out and bought a Dell Laptop and Pinnacle Studio 17 which I have been learning to use. I have been an Apple/Mac user since 1979 and would still rather do my video editing on a Mac. Is there any way that I can force the Macbook Air to let me load in OSX 10.7 where there is still the option to  "open files in a new window" or is there a way to add this to Maverick? The experts at the Madison, WI Couldn't give me any help on this.

Choose Preferences from the Finder menu, click on the General tab, and uncheck the box to open folders in a new tab.

  • Time Machine iTunes Library too big for new Macbook Air

My Macbook Pro went out of commission some time ago, I was fortunate enough to be able to get a Macbook Air to replace it. I had a Time Machine backup of all my old files on an external hard drive, however I had quite an extensive music library that is far too large for my current storage. I do have a backup computer with Windows 7. Is there some way I can access my full music library (over 200 gb) on a different computer through the Time Machine backup or in some fashion so I can put the music I want onto my new computer?

    NEVERMIND I FOUND A SOLUTION
