I can make my finder crash on cue - can anybody else replicate this?

Hey everyone,
even though the new gestures took some time getting used to and I've stumbled across a handful of bugs and errors, I already like Lion a lot and am glad I upgraded. Here's a funny quirk though, whenever I select any random number of files on my desktop (two at least), drag them over a folder and wait for the folder to spring open, the files get grouped into a smaller flock and the number of selected files is displayed in a red circle. That itself is a neat new feature, but when I move the files back out to my desktop from the springloaded folder (mouse button still pressed mind you) the finder crashes and restarts. This only happen when I try to move files from my desktop into a folder on my desktop and, as I said, happens with any number of selected files and all file types. It works fine in other folders however, even from my desktop. Is that a good enough explanation or is this confusing?
Can any of you guys replicate this or is it just happening on my mac? It's happening every time I try this without exception. There's no error message, the finder just relaunches itself right away.

I'm dragging groups of files in and out of windows as fast as I can on my trackpad and nothing unusual is happening.
Lets test in a new user account to determine if this issue is with this user only or systemwide:
          .          Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click Users & Groups.
          .          Click the lock icon to unlock it, and type an administrator name and password.
          .          Click Add "+" below the list of accounts.
          .          Enter a full name for the account.
          .          Enter the account password in the Password and Verify fields.
          .          Click Create User.
          .          Go to Apple menu > Log out.
          .          Login to the new user and test the dragging.

If Finder quits when you either:• Control-click an object.
• Right-click an object using a two-button mouse.This may be due to either:• Installed software that added a bad contextual menu item.
• Removed software that left a contextual menu item behind.What software did you last install or remove? Does its documentation refer to its use of Contextual Menu items?
Contextual menu items can be installed in two places:(1) Your Home > Library > Contextual Menu Items folder.
(2) Computer > Macintosh HD > Library > Contextual Menu Items folder.If the item is in the folder listed in (2), then:
- Under Tiger or Panther, you'll be prompted to authenticate this operation by providing your Admin password when trashing it.
- Under Jaguar, you may have to change the Owner to you (via Get Info > Ownership and Permissions) before you can trash it.

ITunes makes the Finder crash on Lion

Hi guys.
I have this annoying problem on my iMac.
When i play a song on iTunes it makes the Finder crash.

I have this problem too, in my case it appeared that the cause was from song notification (http://osxdaily.com/2011/11/19/show-a-now-playing-itunes-notification-in-the-os- x-dock/) I turned it off, and it works fine again.

Illaass is right, any safety net / passcode can be bypassed or disabled, with a little knowledge and time. There are safe guards you can do in advance to minimize a thief's access to your computer, iPod and accounts, see below, good luck, and don't loose your iPod.

According to sevlet specification,servlet life cycle has 4 stages
1)Loading and instantiation
2)Initialization
3)service the request
4)destroy
When we start webcontainer, webcontainer looks for deployed web applications and reads deployment descriptor of each web application.In the process of reading web.xml webcontainer container creates servletcontext object for holding context parameters and servletconfig object for holding servlet init-parameters after finding the servlet classes of the web application.
After finding the servlet classes webcontainer loads the servlet classes.
Loading can be done in 2 ways
1)When Webcontainer starts(loads) the webaplication by using load on startup in web.xml.
or
2)when first request comes for the webapplication
Say webcontainer starts the webaplication by using load on startup in web.xml ,Webcontainer creates an instance of servlet class and call init method of GenericServlet class by passing ServletConfig as parameter to init method i.e init(ServletConfig config).The code that is part of this init method initilize the ServletConfig variable of GenericServlet class and call init() method of GenericServlet class.
So when a request comes,webcontainer creates HttpServletRequest object,
HttpServletResponse object ,identifies the servlet class based onthe URL and
allocates a thread for the request and calls
service(ServletRequest req,ServletResponse resp) of HttpServlet class by
passing HttpServletRequest object, HttpServletResponse object as arguments.
Since req,resp are of type ServletRequest,ServletResponse they are type

The key concept you have is correct. But once you understand that it is important to know that you really have no control over the lifecycle of the Servlet and that you should not assume anything about it.

Ok, so I'll try again. Thank you for the idea of looking in Home Videos, which is where all my "lost" videos are listed.
Is there a way to get them to display under their appropriate genre in the Movie section, which is where they all were listed prior to the os6 update? It does me no good to have hundreds of movies categorized in iTunes via a genre only to have them appear in Home Videos on ATV. These are not "home movies." They are legit mp4 movies that worked great under v5.

When I installed firefox, it asked if I wanted to use safari settings and I said yes but I think this might be causing the problem. Safari is no longer compatible with citrix ica client. When I reinstalled firefox it automatically installs the safari info. Does anyone know how to re-install firfox without installing safari info?

I'm getting tired of people who supposedly know what

Thanks for the suggestion... but I think my first question would be why these parameters would need re-setting? This is a new machine... It has never been shut down hard. It is used at most 10 hours per week... mostly using Office 2004 for MAC. I need to figure this out as I will soon need it as a Cs2/CS3 - Aperture workhorse.
I too agree that it is best not to use a sledge when a scalpel is needed... but as a novice to the MAC world I may have been misled by Apple support. I seems to have fixed the symptoms ( some) but appears NOT to have addressed the cause... which is what I am after.

I overlooked the rather conspicuous reference to Yosemite.
There must be some other reason.
Just to rule out the easiest one: How about View>Show/Hide Edges and Show/Hide Bounding Box.
In connexion with the update, did you reinstall, since there is an issue now, preferably the full three step way?
Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool, and reinstall.

The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
If possible/applicable, you should save curent artwork first, of course.
1) Close down Illy and open again;
2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to 3 times);
3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
Even more seriously, you may:
6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

Have you added any software recently? Say, anything that shows up in System Preferences> Others, which might suggest a problem trying to load some system-level extension with permissions issues? Or a third-party softwar einstaller that asked for an administrative password?
Depending on the OS version and the third party software you have installed, you may be able to fix things by running Disk Utility> Repair Permissions on the hard drive (ignore the "we are using special permissions" reports).
(Your can use the My Settings link under your user name in the box on the left of the Discussions pages to add such useful info as your OS version, RAM, CPU speed, and the like.)

Check weather Your able to Ping Data warehouse, might be your ETL is not able to ping DW.
