I can no longer bring up my mail?

My iMail is suddenly not opening so I used the Mail Connection Doctor. It is forcing me to sign in to my old gmail account which I haven't used in over a year. I could not remember my password for gmail & had to reset it, well now it doesn't match what iMail has & I can't find a way to revise/edit iMail to update the information. Has anyone else had an issue like this & how did you solve it?

Hi dono,
You won't get a reply from Apple on one of those reports. The (anonymous) report is a diagnostic tool for Apple, which is read to provide information for needed improvements to the OS (and in the case of Apple applications, to that software). MS offers similar choices with Windows; users can't expect a reply from them either.

Apple changed MobileMe to iCloud and then restricted iCloud to 10.7 users only unfortunately
If your machine is a 64 bit processor Intel Mac you can upgrade to 10.7 for $29, however a lot of your 10.5/10.6/Rosetta based software could cease to function, especially third party hardware drivers for printers, fax machines, all-in-ones, scanners etc.

Also depending how old the machine is, if it can accept 4GB of RAM (preferred), older video card, may not run 10.7 very well or stable.
My advice is to keep at 10.6.8, get a web based email service that's plaform/hardware neutral, forward your iPhone emails there. Gmail/Yahoo Mail for instance.
When your ready for new hardware and all new software, then buy a new machine.
If your going to go to 10.7 on your present hardware, I advise you clone 10.6.8 to a external drive first, that way you can c boot off the 10.6 disk erase the drive completely (necessary to remove hidden Lion Recovery Partition) and option boot off the 10.6.8 clone and reverse clone.

Is it possible you mistakenly clicked on a [Clear Layout] button?
But a great hint is- Always click on the [Create a Saved Book] button, early in your new book design.
Then you have a permanent link to the book in the Collections panel. (In addition to the standard collection of your selected images)
Note: a Book Collection shows an icon that looks like a book.
Every time you come back to edit the book, open the Book Module by clicking on the white arrow that appears on the end of your Book Collection title. (The title as saved)
Re-opening a book without using the "Saved Book" option can have unpredictable results.
A "Book" Collection is like a "Smart Collection" because anything you do to the book design, change pages, change images, etc, is automatically updated in the Saved Book collection.

iCloud's mail server settings are different from MobileMe's. Strictly speaking Lion 10.7.2 is required for iCloud, and on that Mail is set up automatically.
Snow Leopard cannot access most of iCloud's facilities, however you can set Mail up manually to access your email. The method is described here:

iCloud cannot access your AOL account (the MobileMe facility for checking external POP accounts does not exist in iCloud) - you will have to do this in the Mail application in the usual way. You could of course set up forwarding from your AOL account to iCloud (assuming they provide this facility) but you will not be able to reply using iCloud's SMTP server with anything other than the iCloud address as the 'From' address.

To get around that insert disc error, copy the CD contents into a folder on your desktop. Double click the setup.exe to install Photoshop Elements.
The initial problem most likely involved a corrupt preference file. Corrupt preference files are not fixed by an uninstall/install as they are stored outside of the Adobe program folder. After you reinstall elements, reset the application preference files.
The fastest/easiest way to reset the application preference files is to use the shortcut. Shortcut: Press and hold in the ctrl + shift + alt keys then click the Photoshop editor's launch icon. Do not release these three keys...ctrl + shift + alt keys...until a dialog box comes up. It will say something like "Delete Photoshop Elements settings file?" After this dialog box comes up, you can release those three keys. Click, "Yes" to accept.

You are running 10.6.8? If yes, I assume you have your install disks? As the trash bin is part of Mail app and that is an integral part of the OS, the only way I know to get it back is to reinstall the OS. You won't lose any files, just reinstall the OS over the top of the current system.

I just want to be able to USE iCloud on my phone
To do that, you don't go to iCloud.com on your iPhone. You use the apps that all your iCloud data is synced into, such as Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Notes, Reminders, Safari (for bookmarks), Photos (for Photostream) etc.

I can no longer read e-mails from Yahoo Verizon. I can send them. I am getting a messageBox with the error "The RETR command did not succeed. Error retrieving a message. Mail server incoming.yahoo.verizon.net responded: problem retrieving message."
I verified my settings, which were working up until I tried to read any mail from June 2014 onward.
Settings:
incoming.yahoo.verizon.net, port 995, POP3, SSL/TLS normal password, automatically download new message, leave messages on server
Running Fedora 20, Thunderbird 24.7.0

I assume Yahoo have reindexed all their mail yet again (Their service is rubbish really if oyu don't use web mail)
Open your profile folder, locate the popstate.dat file and delete it.
ALL mail currently on the server will download. if that is 100,000 mils then that is what it will be. You seriously need to consider using IMAP as they can not screw it up as badly as they do POP.

Can no longer send emails from Mail on iMac but CAN on MBP

Initially, when Mobile Me ended, my email was changed to work with iCloud and it worked fine for about seven months or so. Then, it started giving me an error message (on my iMac, my Macbook Pro, and my iPhone) that said it rejected my password. After a long phone call with Apple, they said that the iCloud server was having problems with certain accounts. They seemed to have fixed it and the mail started working again.
Then it stopped sending email BUT ONLY on my iMac (message says that stmp rejects my password). I have the exact same settings (and password) on my Macbook Pro and the iCloud/Mac/Me mail is received and sent without trouble. I have Snow Leopard on both computers and the same version of Mail on both computers. My Thunderbird email client receives and sends my iCloud/Mac/Me email on my iMac without a problem. Apple Mail receives and sends my other email addresses (gmail, hover) without a problem. Gmail is set to POP and Hover is set to IMAP.
What I have tried:
1) I have deleted the iCloud mail account and re-created it using instructions from Apple Support online as well as Mac users on the forums. (I am not an IT expert, but I can follow instructions.)
2) I have removed all saved iCloud/Mobile Me passwords from my keychain (both incoming and outgoing) in case there was an old one stored there.
3) I have created a new IMAP account. I have created a new Mobile Me IMAP account. I am not given the option in Snow Leopard of creating a new iCloud account -- but as I said the iCloud account (called Mobile Me IMAP) is WORKING on my Macbook Pro.
If I were having the problem with the Macbook Pro rather than the iMac, I'd just go to the Genius Bar and let them handle it. But, if I can do it without packing up and carrying my desktop, that would be preferable.
Any suggestions?

Thank you for this. I followed it "to the letter". In fact, I tried it twice to make sure I didn't miss any steps. Both times, everything went as described until STMP. When I got to the STMP page and hit "create", it once again told me that the STMP server name and/or password were "incorrect". My iCloud mail arrives fine, but nothing can go out because the outgoing mail does not recognize my password (or at least that seems to be what is happening.) I tried to give up and set Thunderbird up as my default mail client, but iPhoto doesn't recognize it and when I want to email a photo, it opens Apple Mail. I just do not understand why it works on my MBP and not on my iMac. Nothing was changed on either computer. It simply stopped sending outgoing mail on the iMac and continues to send out on the MBP.
It's a mystery.

Can no longer change fonts in Mail messages

All of the sudden (within the last couple of days), I find I can no longer change the font - or even the style (bold, italic) of any new mail message. I can change the color, but that's about it. The font stays as whatever the default Message Font is. I did try changing the default to verify it was not a font corruption issue.
I don't think it's a font panel issue since I can change Fonts, Styles, etc. in other apps that use the Font Panel.
Anyone have any thoughts?

Some more tests .. it's definitely not the app itself .. I booted from my external .. and I launched the Mail app on my main .. and it worked fine (of course, all my accounts, etc weren't there) .. so you're right .. it's either a prefs thing (though not the "com.apple.mail.plist" file since opening a brand new user still has the same problem).. or maybe even a corrupt .pkg file in Receipts .. wait a sec .. replaced the Mail.pkg file just to check .. still nope. So it's gotta be something low level.
At this point, I'm thinking what may be easier on both of us is ... I'm waiting for the Apple Box Set (Leopard/iLife 09/iWork 09) to start shipping before I upgrade .. that should be pretty soon .. so I'll just hand on till then (it's really not all that big a deal I guess in the big picture .. just irritating) .. and see if upgrading corrects the issue .. if not, then I guess I'm off bug hunting again.

Just did the 2.1 SW update, can no longer connect to Exchange Mail Srvr

Just Updated to the 2.1 iPhone SW. Now can not connect to my email account on Exchange Server 2007 which I had no problem with prior to the SW update.
Can not send or receive email and all email previously in account on iPhone is now GONE!
After SW Update phone threw off message that it was now activated. Then got a notice about email not recognizing certificate came up when I tried to access my email account on the Exchange Server.
When I try to get or send email get message Cannot get Mail, the connection to the server failed.
What do I need to do?

I had similar odd actions, such as the iPhone Activated message. Now, cannot do anything with the exchange account. Cannot delete it, turn it off, get to account info screen. Each time it freezes in transition requiring either home screen button or shutting down.
