I can no longer drag and drop songs.

I can no longer drag and drop songs into playlists that are resident in iTunes nor can I drag songs directly on to my iPods
(Nano and Shuffle).  I have re-installed the most recent version of iTunes and it did not help.

  • Why can't I drag and drop songs from one playlist to another?

All of a sudden I can no longer drag and drop songs from one playlist to another.  The only way I can do it now is by selecting the song[s], right click on them, and then choose "Move to playlist...."  Any thoughts?

Yes! This is really annoying. I don't know why they couldn't keep the functionality from the old version. The more I use the new iTunes the less I like it.

  • Can no longer drag and drop anything

I've been searching the forums for an answer, but can't seem to find this topic. I can no longer drag and drop anything in the finder. I first noticed this when trying to drag and drop songs in iTunes to a playlist -- nothing would "drop."
Now I've noticed that I can't drag and drop anything anywhere. No files will drop to software, I can't drag files from one folder to another, nor can I drop files to a different hard drive.
This was all working fine yesterday, and I haven't made any changes to my system in the interim. All I've done is restart after discovering the problem, but that didn't fix anything.
    Any ideas?

Where have you looked? What did you use? Double-click on the boot volume's Desktop icon, CMD+J, select list view, click on Users triangle, then your username's triangle, then its Library triangle, then its Preferences triangle. In that folder is com.apple.finder.plist. It exists for all user accounts. Without it, your machine won't work.

  • With new Photos app, I can no longer drag and drop photos into other applications as I did in the past with iPhoto.

With the new Photos app, I can no longer drag and drop photos into other applications as I did with iPhoto.  For instance, I have a photo collage app that in the past, I could just drag in the photos I wanted to include.  Now, I can DRAG the photos, but they do not DROP.  So, I have to go through the export process.  It is tedious.  What am I missing?  Where can I turn on the drag and drop feature for Photos?

YOu're not looking in the right palce. That's inside the iPhoto Application.
You need to look inside the iPhoto Library
    As I sid above:
Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there

  • I can no longer drag and drop my bookmarks or url icons

All of a sudden I can no longer drag and drop my bookmarks around the sidebar or drag url icons into the toolbar or sidebar. The problem seems to have coincided with the download of 3.6.14. The only other thing I did around that time was download Adobe Reader X (10.0.1).

Are you automatically updating your iPod?
Are you talking about dragging and dropping in iTunes?

  • I can no longer drag and drop videos from e-mail to iPhoto !!

Now all is updated, I can no longer drag and drop video attachments from e-mail to i-photo !
    Anyone help ?

In the Mail window Command (right) - click on the movie and select either Save Attachment or Save to Downloads Folder from the contextual menu.
Or move the cursor to the dividing line between the head and body of the email so these options appear and click on the attachment button.

  • I can no longer drag and drop anything in iTunes.

Last week, for no apparent reason, I stopped being able to drag and drop songs in my playlists or reorder my app in itunes.  I upgraded to itunes 11 to see if that helps but the problem persists.

    Thanks, Steve.
As you found, when I showed the sidebar copy and paste started working. Why?  I don't know, but it was progress.
However, drag and drop from the library to a playlist, from a playlist to a playlist or even within a playlist simply does not work.
I spent a long time talking to Apple people, eventually going to a supervisor.  However, we had no success after trying a number of things.
They have sent a ticket to Apple engineers.  I look forward to hearing from them.

  • Why can't I drag and drop songs onto my iPod touch?

I can not drag and drop Songs into my songs folder. The iOS is 5.1.1. Please suggest some way outs

To drag and drop you have to have iTunes set up to manually manage music. See:

  • Can I just drag and drop song files into iTunes?

I have about 50 folders on my PC (Windows 7), each containing between 5 and 15 songs. These are under My Music/ on the PC.
On my Mac, I have about 1000 songs with about 25 Playlists. Some of these Playlists on the Mac contain the same songs as in the folders of the PC.
I want to transfer the songs from the PC to the Mac. I did not want to go through them one by one on each computer to see which of the files on the PC were already on the Mac.
I can look at the PC (My Music) folders and the Mac (iTunes) Playlists side by side on the Mac.
If I see a missing song on the Mac Playlist folder, can I just drag and drop that particular song from the PC folder into the Mac Playlist?
If I see that a Playlist does not exist that would need to be available for the specific folder contents on the PC, can I create the Playlist on the Mac and then, drag and drop all of the songs from the PC folder to the new Playlist?
Would this be the easiest way to accomplish the transfer of the songs?
    Thanks

If I understand that all correctly then yes.

  • Can no longer drag and drop photos to a backup harddrive.

    New to Mac
I have previously been able to drag photos, I don't recall if individually or in events, to a backup hardrive. It appears I have lost the ability to do so. I am unsure if I am now doing it incorrectly or there is some fault in the OS. I was successful weeks ago, then I failed at an attempt. I tried again recently with no luck. I select the pics and get the green + and then the white striped circle as I hold the images over any portion of the backup drive. I tried the Helvetica font toggle and a restart with no luck. I enabled sharing in the iphoto preferences........... Suggestions? Btw the time machine backup seems to be working to a different hard drive.
    Thanks
    Matt

What I'm not sure about: Can you simpyl drag and drop to the desktop?
    If not the
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • Can no longer drag and drop in iTunes

I've seen this addressed in a recent thread but that thread seemed to involve the Wacom tablet, which I don't have. I found today that I could no longer drag songs in iTunes at all, not even to add to a playlist, never mind moving from my computer to my iPod Touch. (But I was able to drag songs from the Finder to the iTunes window and add them to the Touch that way. Still, not a solution, just a workaround.) The only thing this has in common with the Wacom problem is that this might be the first time I've tried to move songs around in iTunes since I got and set up my Apple Magic Trackpad. Could some setting in Preferences be keeping this from working? I tried using a wireless Magic Mouse but that didn't work either. Any thoughts? I have 2008 MacBook with 10.6.8, iTunes 10.5.2, iPT has OS 4.2.1.

    Thanks, Steve.

  • I can no longer drag and drop pages into my bookmarks toolbar in the new firefox

I uninstalled firefox to try google crome. Now i have uninstalled crome, and gone back to firefox. After restarted my computer i put the bookmark toolbar up but i can no longer drag sites into the bar. When i do it opens them in a whole new window.
When i used this before i would have saved tabs in my bookmarks for easy use,
Is this a bug or am i doing somthing wrong
    Thanks
    Mandy

for me the problem was caused by the Torbutton add-on.
I have read that there are about 5 or 6 other add-ons that also inhibit Drag and Drop functionality, not just the Torbutton add-on. The list is somewhere in the main Firefox support section (but it's tough to find the answer there twice).
The generic add-on troubleshooting page is at:

  • I can no longer drag and drop bookmarks

I have used Firefox for several years and can no longer utilize my bookmarks toolbar. Yes, I know that you must drag and drop from the globe and/or lock icon (I have done this for years) but now all of a sudden it isn't working. I can not drag anything to my "Multirow Bookmarks Toolbar Plus" 1.2" which was updated on 2/27/15. When I attempt to drag a website to add to the toolbar I get a circle with the line through it (kind of like a no smoking sign etc). Any help is greatly appreciated

Any luck if you keep the Ctrl key pressed when dragging the link to initiate a copy?
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
*Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
