My bank website has been bookmarked for years and now I receive an error page when attempting to access the site.

Works on my Win 7 Pro 64 bit system, running FF 3.6.15
I do not recommend bookmarking any financial web sites. Manually type the address carefully is the best security practice. Never store passwords on your system unless they are encrypted with a strong password. Or you are telling the "bad guys" way too much if your system becomes compromised.

I can't access this secure website with the new fireforx upgrade but I could before the upgrade.

As above. What can I say-I have tried everything listed on the support forum website. I had no problem accessing this secure website, which is my work email, before I upgraded to Firefox 4.0. I would prefer not have to go back to the previous version if possible. I don't like IE because it is just too slow, but right now I have to use it to access this website. I have windows firewall and have allowed firefox.exe as an exception. Any suggestions as this is very frustrating. Thanks

In what way is it "not compatible"? Have you tried it? Tunnelblick is an OpenVPN client, so your school's VPN is using the OpenVPN protocol. That means any OpenVPN client should be able to access it. (It is possible, but unlikely, that your school uses encryption that is not available on the iPad, but that would be very unusual.)
Otherwise, a remote control app on your iPad would let you control your Mac at home. "Back to My Mac", for example, would allow you to control your Mac remotely. The tricky part of this is that usually a VPN is set up to send all Internet traffic via the VPN server, and I'm not sure how that would work with "Back to My Mac".

Did you check your security software (firewall)?
A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.

I have trouble opening PDF documents with Firefox. They will open using IE8 and with the older version of Firefox but not with the new version of Firefox.

Specifically, I am trying to open brokerage statements with Charles Schwab. I go to the link using Firefox and click and all I get is a blank box with ABOUT: BLANK in the header at the top. Yet, I had no trouble viewing the statements with the older version of Firefox and I also have no problem viewing the document using Internet Explorer. Any help you can offer is appreciated. I would rather continue to use Firefox as my browser and not have to use IE.

I have avast antivirus. When I got a note that my avast doesn't work with the new version of firefox. When I check Avast it says I am protected. I'm confused.

I still have my older Mac OsXv10.4 Tiger software. I wasn't exactly happy with Safari browser as it would block many sites and were considered incompatible so I downloaded the free Firefox browser (the 2.0 version) of which I STILL have. I'm aware that there is a much newer version and would like to download that, but I've heard a lot of people saying they have been having severe problems with it, but then they have PCs and not Macs.

I'm real hesitant to download if I'm going to have the same problem PC users are having...like constantly crashing. Also would my old Tiger software be compatible? Yes. I had problems with Firefox 3.5. The primary problem was very slow or never-ending loading of certain websites (particularly secure sites and sites with many features). I also have had similar, but not as bad, problems with Safari 4. I never had these problems with Safari 2 or Firefox 2. It just seems that with each update, the problems increased for me. I have read the Safari and Firefox forums and tried many fixes with little improvement. I have come to the conclusion that there is some kind of compatibility problem between the latest versions of Safari and Firefox and Shockwave Flash and/or Javascript and OS 10.4, particularly on PPC Macs. I expect there are many who will disagree and I cannot argue or prove the point. This is just my opinion. And I recognize that my problems could be caused by my setup and not by the browsers. By the way, I do not use any add-ons with any of my browsers. Anyway, I got tired of dealing with it and installed the latest version of Camino about 2 weeks ago. I also did a clean install of Firefox 3.0.13. Camino is working out great for me. It is simple and it works. No problems at all. So currently I am using Camino as my primary browser and Firefox 3.0.13 as my backup. I hope this helps.
