I can not eject a cd...

What to do if you can not eject a CD or DVD (media locked) from the drive tray...I already tried all the solutions in the owner's support...
I am discouraged ... is only a few days that I bought my first mac..

Your English is fine Michele - better than my Italian
It sounds like something has physically failed within your drive. I can't think of anything else except to get it looked at by a technician. Good luck.

  • ITunes 10.7 can not eject my ipod nano 4

When I bought iPhone5, I update my iTunes to 10.7.21 to identify iPhone5.
But the new version iTunes can not eject my ipod nano 4 normally.
When I tried to eject iPod nano 4, the "usb mass message is uninstalled" message shows, bu the ipod nano 4 still existed in iTunes.
Then my Windows 7 system can not shut down successfully.
Can you fix this bug right now?

I'm having the same problem, including it not syncing my playlists. Also, I have the iBooks app installed and it won't sync my books?? I paid for those and thyey show up in my iTunes, just not on my touch.

Yesterday I opened up the iMac and reinstalled the drive to make sure that it was not an alignment problem.   I still can not eject.   When I try to eject the drive makes noises like it is ejecting but the disk does not come out.
How do I solve this problem?

    Hi again Hal
Link to your other thread > The slot loading CD/DVD drive in my...: Apple Support Communities
You have also tried resetting the PRAM as I suggestion in your other thread...?
See resetting the PRAM > About NVRAM and PRAM
    1. Shut down the computer.
    2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    3. Turn on the computer.
    4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
    5. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    6. Release the keys.

  • Can not eject an external drive?

I connected a small usb external drive to my Mac Pro running 10.7.3 to transfer files, now I can not eject it because the Mac thinks it is still being used. I closed all open folders, applications and did a force quit to see if any other programs are still open and they are not. I tried shutting down the Mac, though it won't let me since it thinks something is still being done. What do I do to eject this drive?
    Thanks.

If you need to you can emergency shut-down the mac by holding shift, option, and command and hitting the power button. Or, if you know for a fact nothing is being actively written or read from the flash drive, you can either force eject it or just unplug it anyway.

I installed a blank cd to burn a playlist which I have done many times but nothing is happening and I can not eject the cd and when I try to close ITunes I get a message saying a cd is burning but nothing is happening and I can not do anything in ITunes

I have this tip in my notes to eject a stuck disc, but not even sure if I have used it before -

    Hope it works!

I have a MacBook Pro and someone has inserted a mini disc in the disc drive and I can not eject it or even get it to read, How can I remove it?

Sounds like to me that you have a bootcamp partition with Windows and have the default Windows to boot first.
I think there is a Windows Control Panel or other setting while your in Windows to set the OS X as the first boot option.
Also in OS X there is a option under the System Preferences to set OS X as the first boot option.

  • Can not eject CD after playing

After installing 7.7 (43) I lost the capability to eject a CD without quitting ITunes. I open I Tunes and using the lower right button to eject will not eject. Screen indicates the itunes is being used by another program. I have to get out of itunes and then eject the CD.
Did not have this problem before the update soft ware.
I have did the first aid bit, and verified permissions. Did not solve problem.
I shut the computer down and rebooted, still have the same problem.
    Any help available?

Here's an alternative to using the F12 key to eject a disc - *Enabling an Eject menu* You can enable another means of ejecting disks by opening the folder System/Library/CoreServices/Menu Extras and double-clicking the file "Eject.menu". An eject icon will appear in the menubar that can be used to close and open selected optical drives.
(However, it probably won't solve your problem of iTunes being in use.)
     Cheers, Tom

  • I can not eject my ipod from itunes

I just move from ipod photo to a new ipod video but after synchronizing with Itunes and try to eject it there is a message display that says that the Ipod can not be ejected because it is been used by other application. I hope someone can help me with this
    Thanks

This happened to me today. Are you using the iPod as a hard drive? If you are, then maybe there's something on your iPod that is open. You can't eject iPod if there's something on it that's open.

  • I can not eject my I disk , please help

I have tried What to do if you can't eject iDisk the following suggestion which is the only one i could find here......and it doesn't work the system won't let me put the idisk with my username in the trash. Does anyone know what I should do now? thanks Elizabeth
Sometimes your iDisk may not disconnect properly. The "ghost" can stay even after you restart your computer. If this is happening, there are several ways the ghost may manifest itself, but the most common is that you try to connect to your iDisk and simply can't, or you connect to your iDisk but the username has "-1" after it.
Follow the steps below to exorcise the iDisk ghost.
(Whenever the instructions use the word "username", it refers to your .Mac username - the part before the "@mac.com" in your email address.)
Restart your computer. Don't try to access your iDisk yet.
Choose Go to Folder from the Go menu.
Type /Volumes/ into the window that appears and click Go.
    A new window appears.
If an icon appears in the Volumes folder that is named "username", "username-1", and so forth, delete it by dragging it to the Trash, then choose Empty Trash from the Finder menu.

Hi Elizabeth and welcome to Apple Discussions.
I do not know what you have tried already. But it sounds as if your iDisk is still in use. I would first go to the Apple menu and go to force quit and make the finder relaunch. Then try to eject the disk.
If that does not work go to system pref. then click on the .mac icon and see if it is trying to sync and if so click to stop if from syncing and then try to eject the iDisk.
    Let me know what happened.

  • Can not eject a cd/dvd after booting to ISO

I understand that when booting on a cd/dvd that the os locks the door. I did find this post https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=116640. I do not think it is the same thing, except for the comment about his wife.
light0 wrote:On #archlinux on Freenode the point is met with apathy, with responses such as: "this is not how to use a computer". Well I disagree. Aside form having a wife who complains that DVDs 'do not always work properly'
The only way I can get the door working is by a complete power off/on. I am using a Lenovo TS140.
    So is this expected behavior?

If you boot fully to RAM you should be able to eject the disc. Some isos offer 'lowram' boot option which loads only a portion of the data into memory and then use the CD/DVD as needed. You won't be able to eject the disc using the 'lowram' option.
Are you talking about any particular iso?

  • Please help, i can not eject stuck cd

how to force eject stuck cd in my macbook pro 13"?
seems the dvd thicker than the dvd tray
    thank a lot

    Yo, budisalm,
Did that post by CT help solve your problem?
When this has happened to me and I can hear the CD/DVD trying to eject, I make a "guide" to aid the ejection. Two thin sheets of plastic, cut to just fit inside the front felt slots of the drive. Flair them a bit, the idea is to guide the CD/DVD past the slot when it's trying to eject. The box from those preprepared salads you get from the grocery store work nicely.
