I can not email a specific email address

I am trying to email a contact and get "can not connect to the outgoing server stmp.comcast.net:  my user name."   The problem email address has a email extension of .org. 
No other problems with incoming or outgoing email.
I checked with my internet provider with no help.

Mmmm. Sounds like an odd error to get. What log is this? Works OK in 10.4.7. Are you 10.4 or earlier? Anybody know if things are different in 10.3?

The command "spamassassin --lint" will run a check on the local.cf file and flag up any errors. There are (I think) 5 ignorable issues it has with the default file but it will actually list the lines so you can easily see if it has an issue with specific entries. You can run --lint without restarting mail services so the file will not yet be 'live' and can be re-edited without interupting the mail services.
Just-in-case, stop & start mail services using "serveradmin stop/start mail" command (when you want to make changes live) rather than via the Admin button. I think it was Pterobyte that noted that this is safer (due to GUI caches or something).

    At this point I feel like I wasted my money paying for this supposed upgrade. I got nothing for it but frustration. It even automatically set my security settings to allow only downloads from the Mac store so the first time I went to download something I had to stop what I was doing and go correct settings first. I feel like there should be a security setting to block downloads from the Mac store so I don't accidentally end up clicking the wrong thing and being charged.

    iCloud isn't syncing them on your phone.  You simply added the email account to your phone and enabled calendar and notes syncing with the email provider, and the calendar and notes appear in the calendar and notes apps on your phone.  You can do this with Gmail, Yahoo and other IMAP account.  iCloud email is just another IMAP account, but syncs notes with Apple's iCloud server just as Gmail syncs notes and calendars with Google's server.
    iCloud didnt' set up a non-iCloud account on your Mac.  When you check Mail in System Preferences>iCloud, it only creates an iCloud email account.  You can also add other email accounts to your Mac by going to System Preferences>Mail,Contacts,Calendars and clicking on the "+" sign on the bottom of the left sidebar.  If you added these other email accounts to your Mac before you upgraded to Mountain Lion, these were simply maintained on your Mac after you upgraded.

    If you don't know your password, don't know your security questions and don't have a rescue address or don't receive a reset email, you should contact AppleCare who will initially try to assist you with a reset email or if unsuccessful will pass you to the security team to reset your security questions for you.
    If you are in a region that doesn't have international telephone support try contacting Apple through iTunes Store Support.

  • I have had to create a new Apple ID due to my old email being locked/out of use. I can not access my old email/Apple Id to change icloud and imessage to my new Apple ID. Any ideas?

    I have had to create a new Apple ID after having my previous email locked and put out of use. I have managed to change my purchasing for music and apps to my new Apple ID but for iCloud and iMessage I can not access my old email/Apple ID to change this.

    You need to delete them and then download them from the new Apple ID. This may require repurchasing paid applications.

    Are you getting mail? May be a PW issue.
    Or
    Your outgoing mail server setting is wrong. Do a google search for your email providers mail server settings and compare those with what you have.

    I have asked for your email address to be edited out. Posting your address in an open thread is a sure way to be bombarded by unwanted email, remember it will be here long after you have resolved your problem, for automated detection software to find.
    If you want people to contact you, enable others to see your email address in your profile.
    This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
    However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7.
    The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID, verify the changes, enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone".
    You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, verify it once again, delete the iCloud account from your device and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

  • Can not get a specific website to load in either Safari or Firefox?

    Can not get a specific website to load in either Safari or Firefox on my MacBook Pro.  Website loads on other devices such as iPhone, PC, etc.  I've tried emptying the Cache in Safari.  Any other suggestions?

    The problem I am having is that this website will not load on my MacBook Pro.  I don't know if it has something to do with the fact that the website was created on this computer using iWeb and then I had to change to a different webhost on July 1st (Dreamhost) when Apple discontinued Mobile Me / Webhosting as of July 1st.  That is when I was no longer able to load the site on this one computer.
    I get this message with Safari:
    Safari can’t open the page “http://www.challengefitnesscrossfit.com/” because the server where this page is located isn’t responding.
    and this message from Firefox:
    The connection has timed out
    The server at www.challengefitnesscrossfit.com is taking too long to respond.
