I can not find iphoto in my mac

Hi, I´ve just started to use my MacBook Pro. When using icloud, my pictures will not download to my mac. It works fine with ipads and iphone, but not on the laptop. The other functions on icloud works, only picture streaming that won´t work. Any advices?

Yes, it should be free on all Mac's come with the iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand. Do you have the original DVD that came with your Mac.

  • Photoshop Bridge can not find Iphoto files

When I open Bridge in Photoshop to open pictures It can not find my Iphoto files. There is an Iphoto icon with the other folders but when I click on it it opens Iphoto it does not show the files.

Bridge and iPhoto do pretty much the same thing in different ways and can not be used together - choose one or the other
PS can be used with iPhoto directly without bridge - set it as the external editor in the iPhoto preferences

  • Can not find iPhoto.plist

Edited photos are not saved and when I try to print an edited photo it reverts to the orignial.  I read that deleting "com.apple.iphoto.plist" and relaunching iPhoto should fix but I can't find the iphoto.plist file no matter what I do.

I read that deleting "com.apple.iphoto.plist" and relaunching iPhoto should fix
    It won't.
    Back up all data.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership, permissions, and access controls to the default. If you've intentionally set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it, but you do need to follow the instructions below.
Start up in Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open. In that window, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not going to reset a password.
Select your startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

  • Comic life can not find iphoto library

I am working on Mac OS X version 10.5.8 and iPhoto 09. In the past I had no problem using Comic Life Deluxe version 1.5.2 but about 3 months ago my Comic life could not find my iPhoto library. This is the message I get when I click on the tab...
Comic Life cannot find your iPhoto Library.
Perhaps you are not using iPhoto or your iPhoto Preferences are out of date?
Both my iPhoto and Comic Life are up to date. The finder tab and capture tab are working on Comic Life. I have tried an old fix I found posted but that did not work either (com.apple.iPhoto.plist)
    Any ideas out there?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Try deleting the iPhoto preference file again, the com.apple.iApps.plist file and the Comic LIfe preference file. Reboot and launch iPhoto and then Comic Life and see if that helped.

  • MacBook Pro OS X 10.6.8   I reloaded Snow Leopard and now can not find iPhoto.  Can I retrieve the pictures from the system?

ProtectMac AV alerted to a trojan and was unable to remove it.  The Geeks at Best Buy could not sort it and recommended reinstalling the OS so I off-loaded the files and 1200 pics from Europe to a flash drive.  I reinstalled Snow Leopard, iWork, and upgraded from Office: Mac 08 to Office: Mac 2011.
Once the system was proved up the files were reloaded but the flash drive failed before the pictures could be reloaded.  Is there a way to recover the pictures that were in iPhoto which is not here even with a search.  All I can find is:
    iLifeShared              Oct 23, 2010  5:16 PM              --      Folder
    Info.plist                   Oct 23, 2010  5:16 PM           4 kb    XML P...rty List
    iPhoto.ipspot            same date / time                    4 kb    iPhoto...ument
iPhotoAux.db           same date / time                    4 kb     Document
    iPhotoMain.db                   same                             same
    Library.data                       same                             same
    Library.iPhoto                    same                             same
    Library6.iPhoto                  same                             same
I could get into the registry on a widows machine safely but know nothing about a Mac.  I read up a bit on the Terminal and Commands but prefer to not be trolling around with the unknown.  Any idea where iPhoto went and why?  Thanks!  /joe

When you backed up to the flash drive did you copy the iPhoto Library that was in the Pictures folder?  If you had copied it intact and then back you would have your library back.
You can try using   MediaRECOVER or SubrosaSoft FileSalvage to try to recover what's on the flash drive.  Both will let you run it in demo mode to see if you can recover the photos before you have to purchase.

  • Mac mini can not find the NAS

In my network I have a Mac mini, AirPort Extreme base station and a Netgear ReadyNAS Duo v2. Everything is connected by cable. The problem is that the Mac mini can not find the NAS. Mac mini is looking for wirelessly connected devices, type TimeCapsule. How do I get my Mac mini to find the NAS and set the NAS as a source of data storage?

I have a ReadyNAS and use it as a Time Machine destination with no problems, even over WiFi. The ReadyNAS and Mac are both on the same LAN (even though the Mac is on WiFi), please check to see if your WiFi is on a different LAN to the Ethernet side of things, I have my Airport set to bridging mode so both sides of the AirPort count as the same LAN.
Next you need to check you have actually configured Time Machine in the ReadyNAS, as shipped it is initially turned off. You need to go to the ReadyNAS web management interface (FrontView) and then click on Backup on the left, and then select Time Machine. You also need to make sure Bonjour is enabled for the ReadyNAS, this is accessed by clicking on Services on the left and then selecting Discovery Services, make sure all the Bonjour options are ticked on.

  • Can not find I-photo

I can not find Iphoto on my MACbook pro. if i open a picture it does not load. it only goes to preview. any ideas where i can find it & keep it on the bottom of my screen?

I can not find Iphoto on my MACbook pro.
Have you looked in the applications folder?
f i open a picture it does not load. it only goes to preview.
That is correct - iPhoto is NOT a photo viewer - Preview is so it is used to view photos. iPhoto is a digital asset manager and photos must be imported into iPhoto prior to use - drag them to the iPhoto icon in the dock or open iPhoto and use the import command in the file menu
any ideas where i can find it & keep it on the bottom of my screen?
If iPhoto is not in your Dock then open the applications folder and drag iPhoto to the dock - that will create an alias there

I replaced my hard drive and lost iPhoto. Is there a way to retrieve?  I can not find the starter discs that came with my Macbook Pro.

Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. You can purchase replacement discs from Apple.
Or, you can upgrade to Lion or Mountain Lion:
Upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99.
If you sign into the App Store and try to purchase Mountain Lion but the App Store says your computer is not compatible then you may still be able to upgrade to Lion per the following information.
    A. Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
         Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.
For a complete How-To introduction from Apple see Upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion.
    B. Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.

  • IPhoto can not find several photos, shows icon, but not pic itself and I did not move anything

I have more then 12'000 photos on iPhoto. After the last update it shows me all pics in the small icons, but when I click on them, severals are not whown - a black background with a grey triangle opens and a "!" in the mid. I suppose this means that iPhoto can not find the data. I already looked into the database and the files are really not there. But I did NOT move them! What happened? What can I do? (I would highly appreciate if I would not have to check every single photo and reimport it again!!!) Thank you in advance for your help!

    Restore from your back up.

  • I need to reinstall Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 for MAC, but can not find it online.

I upgraded my MACBook Pro to Yosemite and now receive an error message that I need to reinstall Acrobat in order to run updates.  However, I can not find Acrobat 9 Pro for MAC online.  Please help.

That is correct Steelgrrl you will want to locate your installation media and copy the installation files to a USB drive on a computer which does have an optical drive.
Alternately if you purchased from Adobe directly and choose the download option at the time of purchase then the download will be available under your account.  You can find more details at Find a download link on Adobe.com.
