I strongly recommend that you install iTunes to the default C: paths. You can change the perferences to keep the actual music files on your D: partition.

I can not open itunes on my computer. It started when an upgrade appeared. Now I get a message that states This application has failed to start because MSVCR80.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem. I tried to reinsall the application but it did not help. I also get a message iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes   Error 7 (Windows error 126)   Please Help me!

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

  • ITunes crashes when trying to access the iTunes Store -- Quick Time is installed but diagnostic says "QuickTime not available"

I'm getting a Windows error and iTunes crashes any time I try to access the iTunes store.  I'm not sure if this may be related, but when I run a connectivity diagnostic, system info shows:
Microsoft Windows 7 x64 Home Premium Edition Service Pack 1 (Build 7601)
    Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. EX58-UD3R
    iTunes 10.5.0.142
    QuickTime not available
I have QuckTime 7.7.1 (1680.42) installed and it works without trouble.  Is the fact that iTunes doesn't recognize my install possibly related to the crashes?  I have uninstalled and reinstalled both programs a couple times.

Well, as far as I can see, no one has responded to this question. Nor do I see any solutions mentioned in other questions by folks having the same problem. So I can only assume that there IS no fix.
Oh well, I know that one user is just "small potatoes" as far as the iTunes Store is concerned, but they've just lost this frequent little revenue stream - their loss, Amazon's gain.
Good-bye iTunes store - it was fun while it lasted...

  • Same issues - can't open iTunes OR Quick Time

Looks like I have the same issue as others. Eror message with iTunes - and no message with Quicktime - but nothing happens when I try to open QuickTime.
In an effort - I've answered basic questions as asked on other thrsome preliminary questions aimed at narrowing in on possible culprits.
    (1) do you have Norton Internet Security 2005 installed on the PC? YES
    (2) try launching your QuickTime. does it:
    (a) launch perfectly fine? NO
    (b) fail to launch with an error message? (if so, what does it say?) NO MESSAGE AT ALL
    (c) exhibit other peculiar behavior? (if so, could you describe it for us?) ZIPPO
    (3) reboot the PC. bring up your Task Manager, and click on the "Processes" tab. now try to launch itunes again.
iTUNES.ESE APPEARS AND STAYS THERE UNTIL i CLICK "DON'T SEND ON ERROR MESSAGHE: QUICKTIME.EXE DOES NOT APPEAR AT ALL WHEN THIS IS ATTEMPTED.
does an "itunes.exe" process appear in the Processes tab? if so, does it persist in there or does it disappear after a few seconds?

    Hi terry Shull,
I feel your pain! I saw your post in the 'Discussions' area...
You have probably gone here already: http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ - and looked through for any possible answers...
I use both a Mac and a couple of PC's. I will admit I do not update my iPod through the PC and only use the Mac for updating. And I have not updated Quick Time from 7.1 on my PC's or 7.1.2 on the Mac, I have read several posts here and on the internet suggesting a few issues with the updates, I have not updated iTunes beyond version 6 either.
I assume from your post, that neither iTunes or Quicktime work? Which versions of each do your have? Did these problems start after any software update? When did you purchase iPod, model, etc etc etc...

  • HT1923 I can't uninstall iTunes from the control panel on a Windows Vista machine.  .

I need to uninstall iTunes so I can upgrade my Windows Vista machine to Windows 7 Home Premium.  When I try to uninstall it tells me I can't because I don't have administrator privleges.  I am the only user account on the machine and I have full administrator priveleges.  Any idea how I can get iTunes to uninstall?

  • Can't run iTunes. Quick time error

    QuickTime failed to initialize(error -2096)
QuickTime is required to run iTunes. Please uninstall iTunes, then install iTunes again.
Can anyone help me out? I've downloaded it again to many times. Restarted my computer everything.

Even though the following article is about the -2096 when launching the QuickTime Player, I'd start with it for your iTunes as well:
[Error -2096 message when opening QuickTime for Windows in Compatibility Mode|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1875]
(If you do end up having to check the iTunes.exe compatibility mode tab too, be sure that no boxes in that tab are checked, not just the compatibility mode tab itself.)

  • I can not upgrade from 10.2 to 10.6 because of missing "itunes.msi" file.  How do I repair it? I can not remove itunes and start over.

I can not upgrade from 10.2 to 10.6 because of missing "itunes.msi" file.  I can not delete ITunes and start over either.

Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

HI, there is no error message when I try to open iTunes, it just hangs.

I installed itunes and quick time  but when I try to open itunes I get a message that reads "quicktime failed to initialize (error -2096).  I have removed both itunes and quicktime from my computer and re-installed them and I still get the same message.  What do I do to get itunes to work?

That one is often a compatibility mode problem. Try the following document, only be sure that none of the boxes in the compatibility mode tab are checked (not just the compatibility mode box itself):

The download link will not work on Android phones that do not have supported hardware. You can check whether your phone is supported here:
    https://wiki.mozilla.org/Mobile/Platforms/Android#System_Requirements
If you phone ''is'' supported but the market link still does not work for some reason, you can download the app from here instead, using your phone's web browser: http://bit.ly/fxmobilebeta

  • I tried downloading iTunes to my computer. It gives me an error where it says can not find iTunes Helper. I uninstalled all iTunes, restarted my computer, and then tried again. I keep getting the same error everyime. What can I do?

I tried downloading iTunes to my computer. It gives me an error where it says can not find iTunes Helper. I uninstalled all iTunes, restarted my computer, and then tried again. I keep getting the same error everyime. What can I do?

Apple Application Support was not found. Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes.  Please uninstall iTunes,  then install iTunes again.  Error 2 (Windows error 2).
Many thanks. That issue will be causing the iTuneshelper error message too.
With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR suitable for your PC (there's a 32-bit Windows version and a 64-bit Windows version). If the following link takes you to the WinRAR home page rather than the WinRAR downloads page, click the Downloads header in the box at the left of the WinRAR home page to see the trial version downloads:
    http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you? If so, see if iTunes will launch without the error now.
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • Itunes gives me an error "can not open url at this time"

Every time I open Itunes on my computer it asks me to update Itunes and  click on the update... it then gives me an error message stating it can not open URL at this time....

Entry point errors can often be fixed by deleting the offending dll, then repairing the component it is part of. CoreMedia.dll is part of Apple Application Support.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If the advice above doesn't resolve things you could try this alternate version:
    iTunes 12.1.0.71 for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) - itunes64setup.exe (2015-01-28)
which is a 64-bit installer for the 32-bit version of the core application, similar to previous 64-bit releases.
Or roll back to the previous build:
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (32-bit) - iTunesSetup.exe (2014-10-16)
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (64-bit) - iTunes64Setup.exe (2014-10-16)

  • I can not access Itunes Store from my computer. When I run the dianostic I get a red light that says "Secure Link to the Itunes Store Failed".

I can not access Itunes Store from my computer.
When I run the diagnostic tool for network connectivity, my network connects but I get a Red light that says "SECURE LINK TO THE ITUNES STORE FAILED".
Can anyone help me on this problem?

ITunes won't connect all I get is the "accessing iTunes store......". With the bar scrolling but no connection.
With those symptoms, I'd try the following document:
