I can not open netflix or some you tube videos

I have tried to install silverlight as instructed but nothing works (Netflix) I have other non Apple computers that are working just fine but this is the only one that has been difficult which is a shame becase it was the most expensive......I tried to figure it out but just don't have the patience.

Settings > General > Date and Time and make sure its set automatically.

Why can't i link to a you tube video from email on 4s?

Safari not opening Yahoo, Google, or You Tube home pages.

Safari, Camino and Firefox will not open Yahoo, Google or Youtube. It says "Safari can’t open the page “http://www.yahoo.com/” because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection. This sometimes occurs when the server is busy. Wait for a few minutes, and then try again." Other websites will open okay. I am running Safari version 5.0.6 and Mac version 10.5.8. I've tried disabling add-ons, resetting the cache, clearing the proxy boxes in network settings with nothing working. These pages open just fine using Chrome. Can anyone help??

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box. Don't use the Safari-only Guest login created by Find My Mac.
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem(s)?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in Mac OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The Guest login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under Mac OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

I can't hear my music or you tube video?

Although the ringer has volume, my phone is saying that there is no volume for my music, video, radio stations, pandora, etc.

I am having the same problem. All other sources produce sound except for music apps it seems. The volume works fine for the ringer, games, etc. But for iPod, Pandora, etc. it is muted, but the volume slider is at mid-level. I have tried with headphones, car adapter, built-in speaker and the problems exists in all.

File sharing can not open files when transferred.

File sharing. When files are sent over to folder on mac can not open message comes up " you do not have permission to open the document"
Had no problem before loading 10.9.

Files are coming from another computer on the network and they put the files into a folder on the deck top. When I try to open them I found that I had to select the folder and "get info" and go down to the gear and select "apply to enclosed items" It seems once I take the files out of the folder it reverts back to the default. Then I have to reset it each time to open new files. In Sharing & permissions I have all the privileges set for read & write is there another way to set it as a default to be able to open the files with going to the gear each time?.

Why does adobe reader 11 not allow you tube videos to be viewed on my MAC?

Adobe reader does not allow me to view you tube videos on my MAC. Why?

Every time I install the newest version, for whatever reason, if I want to watch a video, I get a missing plug in message. I don't get the usual "allow or deny" message with it, it just won't allow me to view the video. I watch a lot of art lessons on line and participate in blogs and this becomes very frustrating. The odd thing, is that when I un-install Adobe 11, I can view the videos but, of course, then I can't download PDF files. The weird thing is, other people in my neighborhood are having the same issue and don't know what to do about it. I may just download an earlier version of Adobe because I didn't have this issue until I updated it some months back. Maybe my 6 year old MAC can't handle the technology even though I am running on the latest Safari version?

You Tube videos no longer work after Flash Player upgrade

I am running Win XP 2002 with SP3 and Firefox 3.6.15. I just upgraded flash player and now the You Tube videos no longer display. The You Tube sound works. IE has not be affected and I can see the You Tube videos. Firefox does display videos from Netflix and news sites but not You Tube. Your company wants $39.00 to solve a problem that is the result of your efforts, not mine. I think that is wrong. So what do I do so I can resume using Firefox to view You Tube videos?

I am having a great deal of issues trying to sort out the flash player. Tried uninstalling/reinstalling the flash player, however I still get the same messages on sites such as youtube, bbc that I do not have the correct version installed and to install version 10.
I notice that you have mentioned to right click the flash symbol and then on to settings on the link page that you provided, unfortunately, all i can see is a plain box with a cross in the top left hand corner, and when i right click, there is no Settings option. i have run malware and other sytem scans and have removed any issues that there might have been, all still to no avail.
Any further help will be greatly appreciated.

You mentioned you tried some steps but I'm not sure what they are, you may try my suggestion to resolve this issue, follow these steps:
Click Start, right-click Computer, click
Properties, and then click Advanced system settings.
On the Advanced tab, click Environment Variables.
Locate and select the __COMPAT_LAYER variable, and then click Edit.
Set the value of the __COMPAT_LAYER variable to EnableThemes. Or, delete the __COMPAT_LAYER variable.
If the issue persists, we can troubleshoot this problem in Clean Boot to determine whether background programs are interfering with PowerPoint:

Hello cor-el, thanks for your reply. I changed my settings for downloads to desktop and it has appeared on there. When I double click I am asked which program I want to open file. I click firefox and another box "opening install" says I have chosen to open the file which is an application and do I want to save it. This is the only real option so I press save file. I get a box saying this is an executable file which may contain viruses - do you want to run. I press ok and the final box showing C drive file name and desktop appears stating application not found.
This happens the same whenever I try to install.
To my untrained eye the application is not being recognised as an application and I cannot work out how to get it to do that.
My plugin is still showing as out of date.
Is there anything you could suggest. Thanks for your time.

You are not on Mountain Lion anymore, right? You are on Mavericks and have downloaded Pages 5 and then created docuemnts in it which can't be opened in Pages 09.
No, you don't have to buy a newer Pages but you have to be particular about which version you use.
