    Error 2000-2009 (2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, and so on)
If you experience this issue on a Mac, disconnect third-party devices, hubs, spare cables, displays, reset the SMC, and then try to restore. If you're using a Windows computer, remove all USB devices and spare cables other than your keyboard, mouse, and the device, restart the computer, and try to restore. If that doesn't resolve the issue, try the USB issue-resolution steps listed for Error 1604 above. If the issue persists, it may be related to conflicting security software. If the errors persist on another computer and known-good USB cable, the device may need service.
The "device may need service" means a hardware problem. In that case make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

I replaced the hard drive, motherboard, and battery but now can not restore my Ipod 5th gen?  Error code 1416, any help?

When I did a Google search on "1416 error ipod 5th," there is some discussion that the earlier version of the logic board only accepted 30 and 60 GB drives (or words to that effect), but the later "5.5" version did allow larger capacity drives.  If that info is true, the question is, do you have a compatible combination of logic board and hard drive?

  • I recently restored my computer and now I can not sync my ipod to my computer - the error says "my ipod is synced with anothers itunes libary"

I can not sync my ipod to my computer - the error message says " my ipod is synced with another itnes libary"

Re-installing the OS on your PC has caused your iPod to think it is now syncing with a new/different iTunes library. An iPod can only be synced with one computer/iTunes library at a time. If you try to sync the iPod with a different/new iTunes library it will erase the contents the iPod and replace them with what is in the new library.

i bought a second hand ipod 5 and the original owner forgot the email and password and i can't restore the ipod and it says i need the original apple ID but i dont know it could anyone help me??

If you can access the device: Tap Settings -> General -> Reset -> Erase All Content and Settings.
If you can't do that then you need to Restore it as New:
Locked Out, Forgot Lock or Restrictions Passcode, or Need to Restore Your Device: Several Alternative Solutions
    1. iOS- Forgotten passcode or device disabled after entering wrong passcode
    2. iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen

You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.
Also, see iTunes- Restoring iOS software.
You can also try using DFU mode:
Placing your device into recovery (DFU) mode:
Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.
       1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the
other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
       2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds
until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
                  * If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the
Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off,
release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
      3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the
device. The device should turn on. Note: If you see the battery charge warning,
let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some
charge, and then start with step 2 again.
      4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen.
When this screen appears you can release the Home button:
      5. If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:
      6. Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
    Additional Information:
If you have a problem getting into recovery mode then try: RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode.
Note: When using recovery mode, you can only restore the device. All user content on the device will be erased, but if you had previously synced with iTunes on this computer, you can restore from a previous backup. See this article for more information.

  • When I try to log on to Facebook, My iPad will not recognize my password, and I get an error code 190. What is it and why do I get it?

When I try to log onto Facebook, my iPad will not recognize my password, and I get an error code 190, but I can log on on my HP desktop. What is code 190, and why do I get it?

I was using the FB app that came with the iPad. What I eventually did was.
    1. Held down both home key and on-off button until iPad shut down, then rebooted.
    2. Uninstalled FB app.
    3. Went to App Store and re-installed FB app.
The iPad had numerous problems. My son saw my plea on FB as I was accessing it through my HP computer, and he walked me through it. While he was at it, he taught me how to disconnect auto-correct. I am not certain that I want to keep that off, but everything is working the way it is supposed to  the way it was in the beginning.
I am curious, though, as to what ears to the problem in the first place. After checking various sites, it seems that a code 190 has to do with windows not Apple.
But thank you for the response.

  • I can not restore my iPod through iTunes i get message that it is corrupted but does not allow me to restore

iPod shuffle 3rd generation is corrupt can not restore through itunes

What does the error message say, precisely?  Are you saying doing the Restore causes the error message, or are you attempting the Restore BECAUSE of an "it is corrupted" error message when the shuffle is connected?
After attempting the Restore, does the shuffle still appear in iTunes?

  • ITunes could not restore the iPod . . . because an error occurred

I recently upgraded my iPod Touch (3rd Generation) to iOS 4. I an effort to enable the hardware encryption functionality of the device, I followed Apple's instructions to backup the iPod, erase it to factory settings (using the "Restore" button on the status pane of the iPod section of iTunes and attempt to restore from the backup I just made. Unfortunately, the restore now fails 100% of the time with the error "iTunes could not restore the iPod [iPod name] because an error occurred." There are no error numbers listed.
Any assistance anyone can provide would be much appreciated. A decent chunk of data that was local to my device now seems to be missing.

I had this exact problem, just as described by the original poster. I went to the Apple store, but the Genius Bar was totally unable to help. I am glad I went, however, in that they did have a possible explanation, which was as alarming as it was unexpected: the backup files are probably corrupt (in my case, perhaps by an (unwanted) simultaneous iOS upgrade to 4.02?). Apple had no solution, but the only choice I can see is restoring a previous, good version of the backup image to your computer, and then trying the restore again. Hopefully you have Time Machine or something similar--for once in my life, I am prepared. The files in question are located in different places on Mac and PC. See:
    http://forums.macnn.com/103/ipod-iphone-and-ipad/355013/iphone-backup-file-locat ion/)
Restore the entire folder, just to be safe. iTunes now accepts the backup and seems to be working normally. It has reset, and the full restore is in process. I won't know for a few hours if my all app data is intact, so I'll have to report back.
PS: Do to some panicky monkeying around earlier in the day, I also had to restore earlier versions of these 3 files to make it work, as iTunes was no longer recognizing the old image files as belonging to my iPod. I'm not sure which one is truly responsible for the confusion.

  • TS3694 trying to restore my iphone 4 and it gives me error code 1600 screen is black and is in recovery

unable to restore my iphone 4 screen is black and gives me error code 1600! how can i resolve this issue?

Sounds like your iPhone is stuck in DFU Mode. Try this, open iTunes on computer. Hold both home and power buttons until iTunes recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode. Usually takes about 20 seconds of holding both buttons. Click the Restore button of iTunes. If still problem, you may need to search the Web for help of DFU Mode Loop.
Here are the Steps to fix Error 1600 directly from Apple:
This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, using a different dock connector to USB cable, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections. If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for the error.
    When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while the device remains connected.
The device should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
    Try to restore again.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection.

  • I keep trying to update my ipad 2 to ios5 and it gives me error code 3194

i keep trying to update my ipad 2 and it gives me error 3194 . who can help

    Straight from Apple:
Error 3194: Resolve error 3194 by updating to the latest version of iTunes. "This device is not eligible for the requested build" in the updater logs confirms this is the root of the issue. For more Error 3194 steps see: This device is not eligible for the requested build above.

  • Can not restore my ipod

everytime i try to restore my ipod as the website states it says cant dock when i plug in my ipod. it never gives me a chance to click restore. is there something wrong with my ipod. i get the folder with the exclamation point on it. can you please help

    OK-
First, start with the basics. (Leave your startup software disabled, just in case). Restart the computer and try to update / restore the iPod. If that doesn't work, while you have the updater open and the iPod is connected to the computer, reset it. (Hold down menu and select together until you see the Apple logo on the screen). (Note - iPods can be temperamental when connected to the computer. Sometimes you can reset them, sometimes you cannot. Don't panic if you're not able to.)
What type of anti-virus software do you have? When a drive can't mount with it's software, it's normally because there is some other software that is communicating with it, and therefore blocking the software that you want to use. Check your security software settings - make sure they aren't configured to scan external drives. How to do this varies depending on what type of software it is. You can probably find the information on their website, or you might have to call them for some help.
Also, make sure that your iPod is the only USB storage device connected to your computer. (Disconnect other iPods and/or flash drives, cameras, etc. Keyboard, mouse, printer, etc. are OK.)
If you are on Windows XP - disable fast user switching (if you have it set up).
See these instructions for help on that:
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=279765
If none of this helps, try the instructions in this article:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301305
It's about not being able to lock an iPod, which is very similar to mounting the iPod.
Worse comes to worst, the software installed isn't running or isn't installed properly. Try this article:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93716
    Let me know what happens!
    Best wishes,

  • Can not restore my ipod touch 4 !!!!

I was trying to u upgrade my ipod to ios 5 but when I finised upgrading , I was not able to restore my ipod back.I tried to look up youtube videos and looked of in internet and tried to work it out but nothing worked out. What should I do, can anyone help me with it???

I suspect you have a 2G iPod. Those can only go to iOS 4.2.1.
    Identifying iPod models
    iPod touch (3rd generation)
iPod touch (3rd generation) features a 3.5-inch (diagonal) widescreen multi-touch display and 32 GB or 64 GB flash drive. You can browse the web with Safari and watch YouTube videos with Wi-Fi. You can also search, preview, and buy songs from the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store on iPod touch.
The iPod touch (3rd generation) can be distinguished from iPod touch (2nd generation) by looking at the back of the device. In the text below the engraving, look for the model number. iPod touch (2nd generation) is model A1288, and iPod touch (3rd generation) is model A1318.
