I can not seem to password protect a pages document

I created a document with pages.  I thought I had password protected it.  However document is not requiring password to open.
I used password protect from the file menu of the document.  I even changed the password but nothing sticks.  What am I doing wrong?

When you choose File > Set (or Change) Password… if you always want a password challenge, even on your own machine, then do not check Remember this password in my keychain from the drop-down Pages password sheet.
If you did, you may have to remove the password, and subsequently re-add it following the above guideline.

    How can I set a password protect on a document when saving it?

    Another method is to save it as a password locked PDF.
    From your open Document, Print,
    click on the PDF dropdown
    Save as PDF
    Click Security Options and set a password.
    Save.
    Whether this suits your needs I don't know. I thought I'd throw it in there.

  • How do i password protect a pages document?

    i have a document that i created in pages.  it is a worksheet for brides (we are wedding photographers).  i use to have the document set up so when i email the document to a client, they can read the questions/timeline but cannot edit my text.  i have cells in tables that they can answer in.  the cells were grey in color.  the way i did this was by maybe putting a password on the document (which left the area grey for them to respond in).  but i cannot remeber how i did this.  i'm wondering if anyone knows what i'm talking about and/or how to do it.

    Password protection prevents a document from being opened without the password.
    Locking an object (such as a text box or table) prevents the object of its contents from being altered without first unlocking the object. No password protection is available for this, though, so the recipient could easily unlock the object and change its content.
    At least one of Adobe's PDF applications offers the features you want—non-editable base document with fields that can be filled by the user, then saved and the file returned.

  • Can not  open  a  password protected file from OSX2.8 in OSX4.x

    I have a few files that I password protected in OSX2.8 that will not open now in OSX 4.6. The are not part of the vault type protection. It seems that the feature of individually password protecting files in the earlier OSX system do not open, nor give the option to even give the password. In the get info window there is no option to change or type in the password. The password is not related to the administrator password and it seems that it was a feature that did not follow through to the later OSX version. The only alternative I can think of is to install OSX 2 on an external and hope it gives me the option.
    Does anyone know how to deal with this type of individually protected file in OSX 4.6? I have tried the vault, and the get info, but nothing seems to work to even give me the option to enter a password for an individual file. They are jpeg, and QuickTime, and Photoshop .psd files.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Then it's probably not 100%-compatible with the PDF security standard. You
    should post this question on an iText forum.

  • How can I create a password protected web page?

    Good Morning Folks and Happy 4th. I want to put a

    ago, but when I tried what was siggested, it didn't seem to work.
    Specifically, I went to divahtml and entered "password" into their

    That's because you were led astray. The "Password Protect 6"
    DW
    Extension to which Murray was referring is at
    valleywebdesigns.com
    rather than at divaHTML.com:

  • Any idea how to password protect a pages document? (iwork09 version with mountain lion on macbook air)

    Thanks much, just don't see it when I try to "save as" a pages document...

    Sorry, clicking my old 08 icon was the problem.  Found the 09 book manual and it works (from another commenter).  Just not as user friendly as the "save as" function on a word document.  First time Microsoft has trumped Mac yet.

  • You can now password protect a Pages document...

    It's in the Document inspector at the bottom. You can do this with Numbers and Keynote as well.
    Now I can finally move my tests out of word...:) YAY!

    the algorithm used for PDFs must be compatible with the Adobe's one.
    There are two levels of encryption for the Portable Document Format. Older versions of the format can only use low bit encryption. Newer versions of the format can use either low bit or high bit encryption. Apple Mac OS X uses low bit encryption.
    Apple Mac OS X has removed encryption when it was present. For instance, the Apple ColorSync Utility at one point could be used for this trick. There is a very, very, very respectable University in the United States with a public page on decryption for the Portable Document Format.
    And then there is Elcomsoft, a company in Russia that sells decryption as well for low bit as for high bit. One argument is that in prepress, if a client by mistake has encrypted a printing master, there is a legitimate case for decrypting that printing master.
    By the bye, as far as I can tell the implementation of low bit encryption in Apple Mac OS X is broken.

  • Does password-protecting a Pages document also encrypt it?

    I know that there are some programs out there that let you set a password but don't actually encrypt the files *cough*Day One*cough*. Does Pages encrypt documents? And if so, with what encryption?

  • Can a file be password protected using Adobe Acrobat XI Standard?  No one seems to have answered this question in the trending questions.

    I just purchased Adobe Acrobat because it was recommended to password protect files.
    However, when I checked out the Tools > Protection > Encrypt>  "Encrypt with Password" is greyed out.
    Can a file be password protected using Adobe Acrobat XI Standard?
    The OS version is Windows 7.
    No one seems to have answered the question in the Trending Questions.
    Thanks.

    Yes, it can.  Use File > Properties, and click the Security tab. Click Change, and set what you need. When the file is saved, the security is set.
    BE SURE TO KEEP THE ORIGINAL FILE TOO.

  • Internet Explorer will not open a password-protected webpage

    I've asked this question in the General Discussion forum but
    did not find a solution. I am using DW8.0.2 / MySQL 4.1 / PHP5.1 to
    create PHP login and restricted access webpages. Locally (i.e.
    Windows XP / IIS5.0), they all function properly no matter what
    browser I use. However, on my ISP's server that running Linux /
    Apache, Internet Explorer 6.x or 7.x will not open the
    password-protected webpages - all the other php pages open and
    function properly. I can use Opera, Netscape, or Firefox and the
    pw_protected webpages open fine - just not in IE.
    I've tried cookies on / off, popup blocker on / off, and
    changed my PHP login scripting - all to no avail. Any one have any
    ideas why IE won't open a PHP-scripted pw-protected webpage while
    all other browsers can?

    Thanks for your suggestion. I've added the site to IE's
    Trusted Zone... but no luck. And to test further, I've turned off
    EVERY 'disable' feature I could in IE and still no joy.
    Could the problem be how IE proceses (or doesn't process) my
    PHP logon scripts and possibly does not pass the session on to
    Apache (the server is a Linux box running Apache)? I'm enclosing my
    scripts for review and hopefully for a discovery of why this is
    happening only in IE and not the other browsers.
    Here is my logon script:
    <?php
    // *** Start the session
    session_start();
    // *** Validate request to log in to this site.
    $FF_LoginAction = $HTTP_SERVER_VARS['PHP_SELF'];
    if (isset($HTTP_SERVER_VARS['QUERY_STRING']) &&
    $HTTP_SERVER_VARS['QUERY_STRING']!="") $FF_LoginAction .=
    "?".htmlentities($HTTP_SERVER_VARS['QUERY_STRING']);
    if (isset($HTTP_POST_VARS['Username'])) {
    $FF_valUsername=$HTTP_POST_VARS['Username'];
    $FF_valPassword=$HTTP_POST_VARS['Password'];
    $FF_fldUserAuthorization="Status";
    $FF_redirectLoginSuccess="bulletin_edit.php";
    $FF_redirectLoginFailed="access_error.html";
    $FF_rsUser_Source="SELECT Username, Password ";
    if ($FF_fldUserAuthorization != "") $FF_rsUser_Source .= ","
    . $FF_fldUserAuthorization;
    $FF_rsUser_Source .= " FROM tblaccess WHERE Username='" .
    $FF_valUsername . "' AND Password='" . $FF_valPassword . "'";
    mysql_select_db($database_leathernecks, $leathernecks);
    $FF_rsUser=mysql_query($FF_rsUser_Source, $leathernecks) or
    die(mysql_error());
    $row_FF_rsUser = mysql_fetch_assoc($FF_rsUser);
    if(mysql_num_rows($FF_rsUser) > 0) {
    // username and password match - this is a valid user
    $MM_Username=$FF_valUsername;
    session_register("MM_Username");
    if ($FF_fldUserAuthorization != "") {
    $MM_UserAuthorization=$row_FF_rsUser[$FF_fldUserAuthorization];
    } else {
    $MM_UserAuthorization="";
    session_register("MM_UserAuthorization");
    if (isset($accessdenied) && false) {
    $FF_redirectLoginSuccess = $accessdenied;
    mysql_free_result($FF_rsUser);
    session_register("FF_login_failed");
    $FF_login_failed = false;
    header ("Location: $FF_redirectLoginSuccess");
    exit;

    session_register("FF_login_failed");
    $FF_login_failed = true;
    header ("Location: $FF_redirectLoginFailed");
    exit;
    ?>
    And here is the script that appears on each restricted
    webpage:
    <?php
    // *** Restrict Access To Page: Grant or deny access to this
    page
    $FF_authorizedUsers=" edit";
    $FF_authFailedURL="access_error.html";
    $FF_grantAccess=0;
    session_start();
    if (isset($HTTP_SESSION_VARS["MM_Username"])) {
    if (false ||
    !(isset($HTTP_SESSION_VARS["MM_UserAuthorization"])) ||
    $HTTP_SESSION_VARS["MM_UserAuthorization"]=="" ||
    strpos($FF_authorizedUsers,
    $HTTP_SESSION_VARS["MM_UserAuthorization"])) {
    $FF_grantAccess = 1;
    if (!$FF_grantAccess) {
    $FF_qsChar = "?";
    if (strpos($FF_authFailedURL, "?")) $FF_qsChar = "&";
    $FF_referrer = "Restricted Area";
    $FF_authFailedURL = $FF_authFailedURL . $FF_qsChar .
    "accessdenied=" . urlencode($FF_referrer);
    header("Location: $FF_authFailedURL");
    exit;
    ?>
    Any ideas, suggestions or help is greatly appreciated.

    How can I make a password protected encrypted sparse image?
    Doing what worked in 2006 does not produce password protection even though I have typed one in and re-entered it as requested. Clicking on the Disk image opens it without asking for the password.  I am stumped.   Many thanks.

    That did it. The Keychain box was automatically checked and I did not know enough to uncheck it. Many many thanks.
    Yeah, nobody does. They should put up a custom password save box when you make an encrypted disk image that explains what will happen if you store the password in the keychain. In the current "how-to" article, they mention it, though: How to create a password-protected (encrypted) disk image - Apple Support

    Some apps allow you to do this with documents, photos, and videos but it is not possible to do with apps. Your best and only solution is to use the phone passcode.
