  • How can I start Private Browsing when I do not have a "Firefox button" to click?

"Open a new, blank Private Window
At the top of the Firefox window, click the Firefox button and select New Private Window. A new Private Window will open.
That is what it says! But where is this Firefox button at the top of my Firefox (v 20.0.1) window? What I have at the top of the window is:
    (1) A blue-background bar with the Firefox icon and the title of the current page
    (2) 2 grey-background bars with menus (e.g. File, Edit, ...) and buttons
    (3) 1 grey-background bar with the Bookmark Toolbar
    (4) The Tab bar
But no Firefox button, and none available in the customise dialog. Have I suppressed it somehow?

hello, the private browsing window is accessible through the file menu that you've referenced too - or you can use the keyboard shortcut ctrl+shift+p.
if you want to get the default userinterface with the firefox button though, go to view > toolbars & disable the menu bar...

  • Can I start private browsing in just one tab?

Is there a way (plugin or other) to have just one tab started in private mode instead of the whole browser?

The [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/59736/ Private Browsing Window] add-on does almost exactly what you want. I would use that.
However, it only opens a new window that is in Private Browsing mode. You can't just open a Private Browsing tab in the same window as regular tabs.

Also make sure that you do not start Firefox with the -private command line switch.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

  • Can not start Repository Browser

I have installed the server components of OWB 10.2 on a 64bit Red Hat Linux server and the client design tool on a windows desktop. I have so far failed to start the repository browser trying a number of different things (using the link from within OWB Design Client, starting an OWB browser listener on the client then retrying said link, swapping my client PC's host name slu2022 with the server's etc).
The thing I don't get is why the browser opens with this web address (slu2022 being my desktop):
    https://slu2022:8999/owbb/RABLogin.uix?mode=design&def_host=<HOST SERVER NAME>&def_port=1526&def_service=dwdev
I would have thought the repository browser was accessible using just a web browser from any client PC and that the server needed the runtime listener started? Problem is I have no idea how to start the listener on Linux and the documentation on how to do this seems to consist entirely of this sentence,
"To verify the installation, launch the Repository Browser listener and then the Repository Browser.".
Any and all help is appreciated.

To start Listener on Linux is very simple:
    - Set env. variables ORACLE_HOME, ORACLE_SID, TNS_ADMIN (export ORACLE_HOME=BLABLABLA and so on).
    - In the command prompt, start the listener: lsnrctl start
But... If you can connect to the database, your listener is already up, you don't have to re start it.
The browser server preference is set when installing the Browser schema. It's possible to change it in OWB -> Preferences, under the Browser Tab. Provide correct app server hostname. If it still not work, remove the port number and try again.
    Regards,
    Marcos

  • How to disable Private Browsing on Firefox for Android

I disabled Private Browsing and deletion of History on Firefox for the lap top using extension Disable Private Browsing 1.9. How can I disable Private Browsing on Firefox for android?

  • After upgrading from Vista to Windows 7, Firefox lost all my stored passwords, never asks to save them, even though I've checked box for saving them, have made sure history is not cleared, and am not in Private Browsing.

In Windows 7, Firefox 8.0 does not ask to save passwords, and does not save, them, even though I checked the box to save passwords. I have confirmed that clearing history is not on and that I am not in Private Browsing. This is so frustrating, it almost makes me want to go back to Vista. I have looked at all the suggestions to fix the problem in "Help" and have followed the suggestions, and none of them help.

I have the TX2 1012NR and its can upgrade just fine!  Here is a few recommendations "only if u have the HP Upgrade program disks"
If you have them you can install a clean copy and delete everything... Do not use the use me first disk included because it prompts you to install an older BIOS....  Just use the windows 7 upgrade disk and start the process.  The clean install clears your entire drive but does not void your warranty!   When you use the use me first disk after the install it actually loads everything else needed to get you up in running.  The touchscreen driver and the HP Mediasmart programs will have to be downloaded from the HP support site.  Once again its recommended that if there were any programs installed delete them do not try to update them!  This causes issues and countless errors.  Specifically with touchscreen drivers etc uninstall them before installing the ones from HP support.  I found this was not the easy way to do it but the best way...  I also recommend that when doing any sort of BIOS update that you remove your Battery and leave it connected to a power cord only!  Last but not least if you really mess up and its under warranty... Send it to HP they will set it back up to factory defaults under Windows Vista with the more up to date BIOS installed.  I hope my information helps! Sure you might loose some programs but in the end your computer runs faster and smoother because all the programs installed are made for Windows 7....  Also they did release the Touch Pack for download from the Microsoft website here is a link telling more about the features and benefits and how to get it as it is a totally free download...

  • Can we remove Start Private Browsing from Tool list, but use Ctlr + Shift + P instead?

Is it possible to move the word "Start Private Browsing" from the Tool List because it can create suspect or accuse to use it, I prefer to have it dissect like using the keyboard (use Ctlr + Shift + P) to start private browsing.

You can modify the appearance of Firefox via two customization files.
The customization files userChrome.css for the user interface and userContent.css for websites are located in the chrome folder in the user profile folder, but aren't there by default.<br />
You may need to create the <b>chrome</b> folder and the <b>userChrome.css</b> (the names are case sensitive).<br />
Make sure to use a plain text editor like Notepad.exe and make sure to have all files selected when you save the file as userChrome.css to avoid that the editor appends a .txt file extension (userChrome.css.txt).

You currently seem to be running a Firefox 3.0.6 version according to the user agent and that version doesn't have Private Browsing mode.
You should update as soon as possible to a currently supported release version.
You can find the latest Firefox release in all languages and for all Operating Systems here:

Did you try to wait a bit longer before restarting Firefox to give Firefox more time to close down completely?

  • ThinkPad Twist - I can not start the bios or the start-up menu pressing Enter

    Think Pad Twist i7-3537U
No matter how fast or how many times I press the enter key when starting, I can not access the start-up menu.
Immediately after the white "ThinkPad - To interrupt normal start press Enter" letters appear for just a fraction of a second on the bottom left corner, there comes the windows blue logo, and windows starts.
    - The enter key is working fine (I can use it with any application)
    - I am completely shutting down the laptop, not sleeping or hibernating.
    - I have tried a "safe mode" start from msconfig -> same results.

Ok, I've been able to access the BIOS with the following procedure:
    http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/how-to-access-the-bios-on-a-windows-8-computer/
    Winkey+C > PC Settings > General > Advanced Startrup > Restart Now > > > UEFI Settings
But this is only a temporary solution. What will happen if I can not start Windows and I need to access the Startup for recovery purposes?, or to boot from a USB device?
I would like to have a solution to normally access the Startup Options pressing the Enter key.
    Thank You

  • How can I use Private browsing alongside already open regular browsing window?

''Duplicate post, continue here - [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/816143]''
    Hi,
Whenever I start Private browsing, all the tabs and windows which are already open closes and then the Private browsing window opens. All the tabs and windows reopen after I stop Private browsing. What I exactly need is to open a new Private browsing window so that I can continue using the existing tabs. Is there a way of achieving this in Firefox 4?

    (also looking a solution)
There was an addon that did exactly this but it's discontinued now. It probably worked the same way as you laid out here.
Now is there another add-on that does the same thing?
