I can not update my current version of itunes onto my windows computer
I have an older version of itunes because everytime I go to update it, I get an error. Now I have installed the iOS 6 on my iphones and ipods and can no longer connect to the itunes version on my computer. Also, when I open the itunes, I get a message that states that the itunes on my computer does not include the ability to burn CDs even though I have the proper equipment and computer for this option. What can I do to fix this? Honestly....I know NOTHING about computers. I have tried asking for assistance from Apple but am being told that my products are not under warranty so they don't help anymore. How am I supposed to continue using the products I purchased if I can't get this fixed? HELP!!
have the same issues ; the error reported is "the feature you are trying to use is on an other network resource" and then the install fails when it fails to find the files - Any help would be appreciated.... Dave

I can not install the newest version of iTunes because of a file that can not be found. This is what I am seeing:(The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. C:\Documents and Settings\Aubrie\Local Settings\Application Data\Apple\Apple Software Update\)
(1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page).
http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
Here's a screenshot showing the particular links on the page that you should be clicking:
After clicking one of the circled links, you should be taken to another page, and after a few seconds you should see a download dialog appear for the msicuu2.exe file. Here's a screenshot of what it looks like for me in Firefox:
Choose to Save the file. If the dialog box does not appear for you, click the link on the page that says "CLICK HERE IF IT DOES NOT". Here's a screenshot of the page with the relevant link circled:
When the dialog appears, choose to save the file.
(2) Go to the Downloads area for your Web browser. Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
(3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
(4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
(5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time? -

After downloading the new version of Itunes onto my windows 8, my computer freezes when i attempt access into itunes store. How can I fix this problem?
Never heard of that being caused by installing iTunes. Try asking on a Windows forum. This isn't a problem with iTunes or any other Apple product. If you believe it is, uninstall iTunes. If the problem persists, you'll have to seek advice on a Windows forum or contact Microsoft for support.

When I try to install the latest version of ITunes on My windows computer, it doesn't install. It says log in as administrator (which I am). Any fixes?
What didn't work? Removing everything or just the older version of Bonjour? Did you follow the instructions in the link I provided above to walk you through the process?
Perhaps it would be a better idea to post this in the iTunes forums, since it is an issue with iTunes and your iPod Shuffle.

IOS7 will not work with current version of iTunes
My phone has had a recurring problem with the mic not working unless the phone was in speaker mode. I haven't bothered to update to iOS7 before now, but finally got annoyed with not being able to have a phone call in public, so I attempted to restore (which several posts on the topic recommended). Connected phone to iTunes, backed up, clicked "restore", got a pop-up saying that it couldn't restore the phone because I was still running iOS6.
Figured, what the heck, iOS7 can't be that bad, decided to update. All the while, my phone was connected to my computer, which is running iTunes version 10.6.3. Not once did I get any sort of warning, notification, pop-up, anything letting me know that iOS7 was not compatible with this version of iTunes. Since my phone was pretty much out of memory, I actually deleted all of my music so that I could download the update, knowing that it would be able to be replaced as soon as the update was finished. Waited for the update to download and install, clicked "Sync" on my computer, there's my pop-up. Attempted to download iTunes 11, won't let me because my computer is still running Mac OSX 10.5, because I don't feel the need to buy a new laptop every 2 years.
My computer was purchased (new) in '09, not even a full five years ago. I understand that Apple changes constantly, but the fact that I now have NO way to restore my phone, NO music, NO way to back my phone up without a wireless connection, is frankly a pile of crap. I can't even talk to tech support about this without paying $19 for an internet conversation because I purchased my phone 13 whole months ago.
I've been a huge proponent of Apple ever since I got my computer. I've recommended them to countless friends because my computer has lasted five years without a single problem, no significant slow-down, etc. It's great to find out that the fact that Apple made such a great product is the same fact that's causing me to have to write this long, drawn out, very livid post that is essentially a giant plea of: short of getting a new computer (because um, no, I'm not doing what Apple wants and spending more money so that two products made by the same freaking company are compatible), how do I restore my phone and get my music back? I know that anything purchased on the iTunes store can be downloaded to my phone, but the vast majority was from CDs.cynecasey wrote:

You have written a very long story, and I admit I have skipped most of it. But I think the question is you are on iOS 7, and cannot get the latest version of iTunes (11.1.5) on your computer because your OS X is too old.
The fact that you chose not to update your hardware does not mean you could not update your software!
OS X 10.5 is very old (about four years). iTunes 11.1.5 (current version) requires at least OS X 10.6.8 to run. Very likely, you could upgrade your computer's software to at least OS X 10.6.8 and then download the current iTunes on it.
You would start here:
http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
Then you would update the OS X 10.6 to OS X 10.6.8 over the air, then download iTunes (or update to a later OS X, as the current version is 10.9.2). -
Can't install the current version of iTunes
I have itunes 8 installed. I successfully downloaded the current version of iTunes (I downloaded it using Firefox and IE - not sure what version, but it's a later version) and attempted to install it, I got this error message:
*An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT, version="8.0.50727.4053", type="win.32", publickeytoken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b", processor Architecture="X86"'. Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT:0x8007054F.*
Whatever it had installed up to that point, it proceeded to uninstall. And, now, I cannot even use the iTunes that was already installed as it says: *"iTunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing. Please reinstall iTunes."*
Can anyone help me? I have been having problems with my computer. I'm using Vista and have been having crashing problems and Windows updates have not been able to install. I know I need to contact Microsoft, or Dell, again (yes, they have not been able to help me) - could that be why I'm having problems installing iTunes? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!!!+I backed everything up before installing the new Windows operating system.+
That's good news. How did you back it up? Did you save the entire itunes folder? Or just the itunes music subfolder?
What you need is your library file from the old system.
iTunes Library.ITL
This iLounge article explains why you need that ITL file.

About the authorization, you have just lost one authorization, since that Vista system is gone.
Once you reach 5 auths, you can do a deauthorize all. My work PC got upgraded while I was on vacation one year and I lost an auth that way. Since I am only up to 4 machines, I don't worry about it.
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1420
You might want to spend $2 and get a 3rd-party ipod manager program that is much easier to use than iTunes for getting everything back from your ipod.
