I can not wake up my iMac27 remotely
I can not wake up my iMac remotely using LogMeIn ("Wake for network access" turned on, "Put the hard disk to sleep when possible" turned off, Computer sleep 12 min, Display sleep 10 min in System Preferences and "Wake On LAN" enabled in LogMeIn client). LogMeIn says: the iMac is not turned on or not connected to the internet.
But the iMac is turned on and it is in sleep mode. At the same time Time Capsule is providing the wireless (iPhone) and wired (MacBook Pro connected with cable) internet connection continuously. I have iMac27 (OSX 10.6.7).
When I wake up the iMac (keyboard or mouse) it takes 3-5 sec to connect to the Internet again ("Wake for network access" turned on in System Preferences!). Also I hear "clicking" sound when something turns on in my IMac. I guess it is the hard drive but I should wake up the machine remotely anyway…
Really no idea what I should do to avoid the sequential "re-installation" from scratch on the iMac27. I just simply want to use LogMeIn to connect to my iMac when I am out of home. It worked some time ago… My MacBookPro with the pretty same OSX and programs works fine and I can always wake up MacBookPro remotely with LogMeIn…
Suggestions? Ideas?
Many Thanks
I am still struggling with the same problem. My MacBook Pro with the same OSX and programs has no problem to wake up remotely (e.g. connecting from iPhone LogMeIn App) using the same Time Capsule (AirPort Extreme Base Station 802.11n). My iMac27 and MacBook Pro connected to TimeCapsule (AirPort Extreme Base Station 802.11n) via ethernet cables. Also I can wake up my MacBook Pro remotely form a PC laptop using LogMeIn via WiFi. No clue why iMac27 can not wake up remotely... I hardly believe this...

Can not wake up normally after sleeping too long
G5 with 23inch cinema LCD, Geforce 6600LE video card
if only sleep within 1 hour, it will wake up normally by moving mouse.
if more than 1 hour, the desktop will show but just last 2 seconds. and the display turns dark for 10 seconds and turns blue for 2 sec. and goes dark and repeat the cycle. finally stays dark.
checked this board. It seems not a single case. Anybody has any idea about this? thx a lot.I have the same bloody problem. It started with my upgrade to Leopard. Short sleep is ok - wakes up alright. Longer sleep - comes up with black screen and roaring fans. Well done, Apple. Now I cannot and will not upgrade my laptop as a laptop that can't wake from sleep is about worthless.
I have: tried pulling the SystemConfiguration power management file out and restarting - didn't fix it.
I have also cloned my hard drive, erased and reinstalled Leopard, and restored the files and then installed all updates - and now I am back where I started, with black screens and roaring fans after restart (did the same thing before upon safe restart with shift key down, and also on single-user reboot after I started fsck (the roaring fan part, not the black screen). This counts as a major bug.
Other discussions suggested a problem with graphics drivers missing in Leopard, or perhaps unchecking the 'sleep disks when possible' option under the energy saver as a temporary workaround.
My laptop stays at 10.4.10.

Can you wake up your Mac remotely to control it from iPod using VNC app?
I have the VNC app that allows you to connect to your Mac or PC and control it from your iPod. Your iPod screen displays a miniature version of you computer and by using a selection of tools you are able to do everything on you Mac remotely. The problem is that when you go away or are away from your computer you don't want to have to leave it running continuously so the preferred option is to let it sleep and wake it up remotely when you need to access it. I tried calling Skype on my Mac from another computer but either just leaves a message or rings but doesn't bring the Mac out of sleep mode. This little VNC app is amazing and very useful only if I can get my Mac to wake up so I can connect to it. If not, great app but useless... at least for me.
Anyone have any ideas?
KevHow about using SSH to remote secure shell into your Mac? That might wake it up.
Touchterm is the touch app to use for ssh.

4150L - Works on web, but can not connect via VPN or Remote Desktop
Recently purchased a 4150L and installed the latest firmware. We have been able to access all public websites without any problems. But, when we try and access our customers computers via VPN (various types) or Remote Desktop, we can't connect. We can sign-in to VPN, but when we try and access the computer, it says "can't connect". Exact same message with Remote Desktop. We are able to connet when use a Verizon phone as a hotspot and from every other internet service that we have tried (i.e. hotels, starbucks, etc.) It appears it is an issue with the 4150L.
Verizon Tech Support has been no help!
All ideas are appreciated!
Thanks,
SkipSkip,
VPN traffic should be allowed through on the MiFi 4510L by default. I know I do not have any issues with mine on either the Cisco IPSec or Cisco SSL VPN Clients.
If Verizon DNS is interferring then perhaps you could try to connect to your VPN via a direct IP Address instead of a URL. Not sure what VPN client you have but there should be a No DNS option to connect if you know the correct IP. You could also try switching your DNS to one of the free ones such as the one offered by Google or any of the others.
VPN's carry alot of overhead on existing connections in my experience. Its not untypical to have a 3G connection cut in half when a VPN is applied. Try running a speed test to make sure your connection is atleast 1 MB on download before initiating a connection. If the performance of the MiFi is too poor in that area it may never be stable enough to support a connection. Feel free to post some Speedtest.net averages so we can see what you are working with.
Something to note about the MiFi 4510L is that it is on the SIM card network. That means that NAT is always going to be an issue and block your users from providing a truely public IP Address. Directly remoting to them through any means will be nearly impossible. -
JMF : Audio can not be played from the remote machine
Hi,
I am developing voice chat application.
As the moment this writing I can capture from mic and play it from the same machine.
But when I capture and transmit audio from one machine and try to play from remote machine in LAN it does not work.
Could anybody tell me please What would be the possible causes for this ? I have given the code below.

I wonder why packets are not sending even the program is running until the end of the line with no exception.
Have you tried to capture RTP packet traffic with Wireshark or similar kind of network analyzing software with this kind of program?
I am doubt whether my program is actually transmitting packets but unable to capture those due to the error with transmitter.
Even with the Wireshark It does not capture outgoing packets.
And another thing I noticed with netstat is it shows two pots get opened when running the application but those ports are not the one I note in the program.
For example I run the program with port number as 10000 (sink: setOutputLocator rtp://192.168.2.104:10000/audio). But when I check it with netstat some other ports are open.
i.e

Can not build TNS connection from remote station but local do
i install a new instance, everything work well in local machine,
invole local service name, however, once i do the same work to
build a new TNS service name by net assist at another (remote)
machine, it always prompt on: " target object is not availabe"
or something like this;
i wonder why the local TNS service connection can work(it seems
proved everything well), but remote can't, what is the problem?
thank in advanceI entered the following message on Sep. 29th and have not yet received a reply so I'm repeating it here:
I could not get IIOP to work either remotely or locally on my server. My environment runs Oracle 8.1.6 under Windows 2000 Server.
Per Oracle documentation, I added:
DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = SERVERNAME)(PORT = 2481))
(PROTOCOL_STACK =
(PRESENTATION = GIOP)
(SESSION = RAW)
to my listener.ora file and:
mts_dispatchers="(protocol=tcp)(presentation=oracle.aurora.server.SGiopServer)"
to my init.ora file. When I used the sses_sh command I got the following first few lines:
"Exception in thread "main" org.omg.CORBA.COM_FAILURE[completed=MAYBE, reason = java.net.SocketException: Socket failed]..."
Looking at the log I got the following error:
"TNS-12516 TNS:listener could not find available handler with matching protocol stack".
I didn't see anything interesting in the trace file.
Is there something else I need to do to get the listener to find the proper protocol stack? Has anyone encountered and found the solution to this problem?

I can not wake the Lion and can not see the Snow Leopard
Hello,
I have a (White) 2007 MacBook, with a new 640 GB HD.
It has 2 partitions: a 40 GB running Snow Leopard ( I am a teacher and have no time - and desire - to substitute my AppleWorks DBs until this year ends) and a 600 GB running Lion.
I have an AIM mail account but I can´t use Mail, because I never know if the message was sended or not; AOL said that my configurations are right and that the problem is with their servers, but they not returned the solution.
So, yesterday I was answering an e-mail message in my journaling application, using Journler 2.6 for Lion. I copied an word from the message I got and pasted in my reply. I highlighted the word to change the font to Georgia.
Then, something strange happened: the word Georgia became attached to that arrow that I use to click to activate anything. Nothing was responding. I had to Force Quit the Journler.app and all the other apps that were in the background. Even the OS.
1) When I started the MacBook again, obviously came the last partition used: Lion. It showed the 2 accounts for that partition, i.e. the Administrator account and mine. I clicked on mine and nothing happened, I tried the Administrator account and nothing happened.
2) I inserted the disc I burned with the Lion OS, holding the C key: the MacBook rejected; I inserted the disc of Snow Leopard that I bought from Apple: it was rejected either.
3) I tried to access the MacBook through a Cube running Tiger. I saw both partitions but I could not do what I intended to, that is, change the startup disk to Snow Leopard.
4) I returned to the MacBook and I got a surprise: I could log in my account. But I only could see the apps in the dock, I was unable to open any of them.
5) I tried several other times yesterday and today with no success.
Of course that I want my Lion back; but now the more important to me is to get my MacBook running my Snow Leopard account. I register all the data of my students - presences, absences and grades - directly on an AppleWorks DB file.
So, the big question is: how do I change the startup disk to Snow Leopard?.
My resources are: 1 iMac 800 MHz running Tiger; 1 Cube 450 MHz running Tiger; 1 FireWire cable (to access the MacBook in the Target Mode, which I will try next); 1 iPhone 3G and a never used 8 GB pen drive. There is a MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard, that is not at home now but eventually could come today, I am not counting on this. It was bought in september of 2009 and I am not sure if it has a FireWire port.
I thank you for any help.
Best regards,
Jorge Lucas ( the guy from Rio Grande do Sul)I am using mobilme now, it's working good.
No doubt Icloud is better and a mindless method.
My only problem is that I won't be able to use Icloud with mine 2 computers.
1 is update with Lion, the onther one is with SL, cause it's a CORE DUAL (no update possible!).
So that's my problem, buying a new one or never be able to synchronize after june 2012..... -

Mouse will wake not wake up mac mini
Just purchased and hooked up a Gyration cordless optical air mouse and keyboard to my mac mini. The mini is connected to my television. When I put the mini to sleep I can not wake it back up with these devices. The light on the RF receiver hooked in t he usb port continues to blink rapidly when the mac mini is in sleep mode.
Help!!!The problem is that some external devices simply don't integrate into MacOS sufficiently that they allow this sort of thing. For example, when sleeping, the mini may not know the USB dongle and thus keyboard/mouse are present, so not detect their presence and the mouse/key wakeup signal.
If there are drivers that came with (or are available for) this device and are suited to the version of MacOS, install them and see if that helps. If there are not, it's possible that an SMC reset might help since that's the device which controls system devices, but I wouldn't hold out much hope.
To reset the SMC on an Intel mini:
-From the Apple menu, choose Shut Down (or if the computer is not responding, hold the power button until it turns off).
-Unplug all cables from the computer, including the power cord and any display cables.
-Wait at least 15 seconds.
-Plug the power cord back in, making sure the power button is not being pressed at the time.
-Then reconnect your keyboard and mouse to the computer.
-Press the power button on the back to start up your computer. -
Can I wake my Macbook Pro from Sleep with the Remote app on the iPhone?
I can't access my Macbook Pro remotely, specially after several hours of inactivity,, whenever I try to access content of my library through the remote app or the Apple TV I'm unable to wake my Macbook Pro up.
My Macbook Pro is 2012 model (the last with de CD Drive) and it's running the Maverick OS, my questions are:
* I'm unable to find the "Unable Power Nap while plugged" option on the energy saver tab... is that because the model of my laptop doesn't support that?
* In order to access content from my library remotely, should the "Computer Sleep" option on the energy saver be on "Never" instead of the "1 hour" that I'm currently using... or is there a way to still be able to wake up the laptop with those settingsDo you have a Bonjour Sleep Proxy server on your network?
<About Wake on Demand and Bonjour Sleep Proxy>
If you do not have a Bonjour Sleep Proxy server on your local network, then you cannot allow your Mac to go to sleep at all. System Preferences -> Energy Saver -> Computer Sleep -> Never (slide all the way to the right). -

I can Ping FW inside interface but can not connect to remote resources
dear all
i configer my asa 5520 through ASDM to enable VPN Connection , i follow the cisco steps and it works fine and the anyconnect version 3.1 in Windows 8 - one day troubleshoot for this point only - can connect and have an IP address from the range , but i have something wrong in NAT may be because all guides talking about old ASDM ( NAT Exempt) but i am confeused to apply it on the new ASDM.
i can ping the inside interface from my labtop which using anyconnect , but i can not access anything else inside my network
Please anyone has a solution , please describe it using ASDM , thanks for help

Hello all!
To give you an over view of system I have, iMac, Mac Mini, Apple TV 3, ipad 1, IPhone 4.
I have all music and video stored on the mac mini that is in the roof and I control it using apple remote desktop from my iMac. I can wake it no problem etc and I have now been using it with home sharing and it works fantasticly with the apple tv and ipad etc but the issue is as follows.
How can I wake the mac mini in the roof from the apple tv when it dissapears off the ipad / apple tv when it goes to sleep?
Its the only issue I can see in an amazing setup that I think apple needs to advertise more as its flipping brilliant!
I hope you can help me with this other wise I will have to leave the mini on 24/7 which is poor!
Please don't say turn wake fromlan on the mini as its on and working.
Thanks for any help!!
SpoonyThis problem, for reasons unknown to me, has resolved itself on its own. After several attempts finally everything decided to work. How does stuff like this happen? Thank you.
