  • Can only hear phone through speaker

Can someone please help me. I updated my iPhone yesterday and now I can only hear callers via the speaker function. The regular ear portal and earphones no longer work. Anyone with experience with this?
    thanks,

As absurd as that was, it actually worked. None of my system sounds were working either. I had used the iPod function of my iPhone last night, so I'm guessing that's what goofed everything up. Does Apple know about this yet?

  • New Palm Pre OS 3 days old and I can only hear using my speaker phone

I am pissed. Sprint can't seem to help me and Palm want to charge me to assist me. Are you having problems with your pre os? Plus there is no settings and/or tools and worst of all no freaking manual to research issues. Okay calming down but right now I think I am giving this thing back to Sprint and they can send it back to Palm!
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

I BELIEVE I HAVE CORRECTED THE PROBLEM WITH ONLY BEING ABLE TO HEAR WITH JUST THE SPEAKER PHONE.  I WAS LISTENING TO PANDORA THROUGH A HEADPHONE JACK THAT IS CONNECTED TO THE CAR SPEAKERS.   WHEN I GOT HOME I PULLED THE HEADPHONE JACK OUT ( WHICH I HAVE BEING DOING FOR ABOUT A MONTH NOW) AND RECEIVED A PHONE CALL ABOUT 10 MINS LATER.  I COULD NOT HEAR THE PERSON CALLING BY USING THE INTERNAL SPEAKER AND HAD TO USE THE SPEAKERPHONE.
TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM I DIALED MY VOICEMAIL AND TURNED THE SPEAKER PHONE OFF.  MAKE SURE YOU HAVE SOME HEADPHONES HANDY.  PLUG THE HEADPHONES IN, YOU CAN HEAR THE VOICEMAIL THROUGH THEM AT THIS POINT.  I REPEATEDELY UNPLUGGED AND PLUGGED THEM IN WHILE SIMUTANEOUSLY MUTING AND UNMUTING THE PHONE (TRY TO DO IT AT THE SAME EXACT TIME AS YOU PLUG AND UNPLUG THE HEADPHONES).  IT TOOK ME ABOUT THREE TRIES AND THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED.  NO NEED TO SEND THE PHONE BACK IN.  JUST PLUG AND MUTE AND VICE VERSA A FEW TIMES AT THE SAME TIME AND YOU SHOULD BE FINE.

  • I can only hear phonecalls on speaker, how do I turn off headset setting?

My phone says I have headsets attached. How do I turn off that feature?

    It is a glitch.
Try removing and inserting headsets many times in a row to clear any debris.

  • HT201401 I have an iPhone 4S, callers are unable to hear me when using the headset.  I can only be heard through speaker or bluetooth.  Please help.

Try a different headset, see if that works if not possibly with the connection on the device

  • Any idea why I can only hear a caller when I'm using speaker phone?

Does anyone know why I can only hear a caller when I am using speaker phone?

    Hi goodferg,
The troubleshooting steps below may help you with the sound issue you are having with your iPhone 4:
iPhone: Can't hear through the receiver or speakers
    Resolution
Verify that there is nothing plugged in to the headset jack, including headsets, headphones, or adapters.
Make sure the Ring/Silent switch is not switched to silent.
While on the Home screen, adjust the volume buttons. If you see the icon below, indicating that headphones are attached, there may be debris or an object lodged in the headset jack:
Check the headset jack. If there is an object lodged in the headset jack that is not easily removed, have the iPhone serviced to remove object.
For Original iPhone: If there is light debris, such as lint, in the headset jack, try connecting a pair of headphones to the headset jack and then remove the headphones. Repeat this several times to remove the debris.
If you have installed a protective film on the display, either ensure that the receiver is not covered or remove the film completely.
Check the receiver mesh (which is on the top front of the device, above the display). If it appears blocked, use a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush to carefully and gently brush away any debris.
If you have paired with a Bluetooth headset that is nearby, either use the headset or turn Bluetooth off (chooseSettings > General > Bluetooth).
    Restart the iPhone.
If restarting the iPhone doesn't resolve the issue, try restoring the device.
If the issue persists, go to the Service Answer Center - iPhone for information on service.
    Hope this helps!

Back it up in iTunes! Just make a backup of the entire device but make sure you check sync contacts and the option to add contacts from phone to address book on computer.

  • Calls can only be heard on speaker or through headset

Since I performed the last software up date a couple of days ago I can only hear calls through the speaker or through the plugged in headset.  I've tried resetting but the problem persists.
    Any suggestions?

Hi and welcome to the forums
You wrote you tried resetting the device, did you use a hard reset? Try that first.
Click on the options icon>click on device> select device and status.
Once you reach the status screen type the word test to start the Device Self Test App.
You can select the test relating to the speaker and a log file will be created.
If your device passes the test I would suggest wiping the device using the the factory reset option and loading a fresh copy of the device OS you upgraded to. Make sure you do a full backup of the device using the Desktop Manager before wiping the device.

  • Help I Can only hear sound from my juke b

can anyone help me i think i screwed up my computers sound and i dont know how. I can only hear sound from musicmatch jukebox when i play a song. i cannot hear sounds from any of my games or othe applications. please help me!

Verify that the volume is set to a level you would normally be able to hear.
Ensure that there is nothing plugged in to the headset jack or the dock connector.
If the iPhone is in a protective case, make sure that the speaker port isn't blocked by the case.
Make sure that the speaker and dock port aren't clogged with debris. If necessary, clean it with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush. Carefully and gently brush away any debris.
If an audio issue occurs when using a specific application, try testing other applications to see if the issue persists.
If the iPhone is paired with a Bluetooth headset or car kit:
    Try turning off Bluetooth.
If you experience difficulties with the Bluetooth feature, follow these troubleshooting steps.
    Restart the iPhone.
If restarting doesn't fix the issue, ensure that your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS.
If the issue is not resolved, please contact Apple Support.
