I can only insert upright (vertical) photos

a red number 1 appears in the bottom left corner of all the photos i want to drag into the drop zone...i can only drag pictures into the drop zone that are vertically taken..so frustrated...what can i do?

Can only insert 1 cd/dvd between sleeps.

My superdrive can only accept one cd/dvd during each session. After I eject the first cd/dvd, it will immediately eject any new media as soon as its inserted, even if its the same cd/dvd. The only way around this at the moment is to sleep the mac and wake it up. Then I can insert a new cd.
Has anyone encountered this problem before and found a solution to it? I have searched the forums and havent found this issue before.

Yes I had the same provblem and thought I was going mad. I even thought I would have to ring apple customer care.
Last time I rang them they answered within the first two rings, so I hung up, I thought I had the wrong number.

How can I insert a vertical line between two underlined unfilled with text lines. I am trying to construct an invoice and I need a break. If I try any of the shapes or inset functions it eliminates my underlined lines and shifts the whole document.

I am trying to construct an invoice. How can I install a vertical line between two or more underlined lines to create a break. I have tried the insert, shapes and nothing works. If I try any of the functions the whole document shifts to the right and I loose some of the lines. Is there a work around, or is I work not able to do what I want?

It sounds as though you may have "Object Causes Wrap" activated for the Line Shape. This will push other content away.
See the Wrap Inspector.

My iPad mini, can only access camera roll photos. When posting on facebook. I can not access shared photos from my apple devices.

problem with iPad mini and iPhone 5c and Facebook app. I can only access camera roll, when posting photos, I can not see shared photos. Which I could before the previous 3 updates. I did speak to Apple support but they said Facebook was behind. i think over 6 months later I still have the same problem!

Acrobat Pro / How to insert a jpg or a png in interactive pdf? (I can only insert pdfs)

Hi, I have created a placeholder for picture in an interactive pdf.
When I want to insert a picture the only format allowed is pdf.
I would like to be able to insert jpg or png.
I had a look online and it seems that I should be able to change the user preferences of Adobe to allow formats like jpg and png to be inserted.
I can't find the way to do that.
Any idea?

Thanks Sara, your suggestion is a very good alternative. By using the tools I can add pictures of any types.

When I want to insert a picture I have format options but only the pdfs are showing (see screenshot attached). As Bernd told use Acrobate Reader allows only PDFs to be inserted but Acrobate Pro should allow us more options I think... Anymore thoughts?

I am creating a template with drop down menus in Numbers. I want to be able to insert options into the middle of my list at a later date if I need to, but I can only insert at the end of the drop down list. Is there a different program I could be using?

How can I insert captions to photos on Apple TV?

I'd like to have captions show on the photos that appear when using Apple TV 2. I'm currently using iPhoto 6.0.6 on a PowerBook G4 from 2005, and see no place where this could work. If iPhoto won't work, can anyone recommend a software that will show captions AND work with Apple TV2.

iPhoto and Aperture won't, I can't be certain about other software but since photos outside of iPhoto and Aperture are merely referenced by filepath rather than being integrated with iTunes support I very much doubt it.
You could of course create a slideshow in iPhoto with descriptions and export it to a quicktime movie, but you may not get the quality you get with the Apple TV slideshow.

Can only import 1st six photos on card: Leopard problem

Running LR 1.2 on macbook pro with leopard. I go to import as always using a Sandisk extreme card reader and after the first six photos I get an error message saying unable to import and underneath it says error t, and under that, error f. If I highlight all the photos to import in the preview window I can import everything with no problem. What's going on?

I have had this same problem with Leopard on my Macbook Pro. I am using the DNG converter utility to convert the images and move them to my preferred location. When I import the images at their current location it works fine. If you are using your native camera files you can move them in Finder. Anyway, that is what is working for me.

How to view magazines in differet direction, i can only view some vertical but not horizontal

I am having trouble viewing my sunset or other magazines in different direction in the ipad2, the screen doesn't move like other apps from vertical position to horizontal one, any help will be great.

The app developer determines whether or not an app will rotate. It has been my observation that many magazines do not. Contact the developer to give your suggestion.

Get photos can only bring in one photo

I would like to import all the photos in a folder but the 'checked Get Photos from Subfolders' is gray instead of black so it doesn't retrieve all the photos. It will let me get one at a time though.

I've had a similar problem in PSE 8 Organizer under Windows 7. My simple solution is to navigate to the files using WIndows Explorer, select the files you want there and then drag them to Organizer.

HT1784 In iTunes my Apple tv (1st Generation) only shows Summary and photos so I can no longer load a movie and sync to the Apple tv. Anybody else experienced options now missing ?

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Your library has become a secondary (streaming only) library only (it is possible to turn syncing off by ctrl-clicking on the Apple TV listing in the device list and choosing 'Turn Off Syncing" from the contextual menu) and you need to reconnect your library as a primary library.
Navigate to Settings > Computers > Your Library on the Apple TV, you may be told you will lose all synced content, but you can sync it back afterwards, you won't lose any purchased content that has yet to be transferred. Then select Settings > Computers > Connect To iTunes, note the passcode that appears on screen, click on the device in iTunes and enter the passcode when prompted.

I have the same problem and apple needs to fix this - but in the mean time you can manually select the vertical photos then "import - import selected" and you can get your verticals. We need a better fix. THIS IS A BUG!

Can't import vertical photos, they appear black

I'm using Iphoto 9.2.1 with lion 10.7.2.
I can't import any vertical photos on iphoto. Instead, I have a black icon and all the files weight 329 ko. They appear perfectly normal on my desktop, and if I rotate to have them horizontal on my desktop, I can import them on iphoto, they appear normally (but horizontal, of course).
I have no problem with the same files on another computer with an older version of iphoto.
Has anyone a solution?
I don't want to change manually all my vertical photos to horizontal and then to vertical for the rest of my computer's lifetime!

In Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
Now you can find your Home/Library/Preferences folder and the iPhoto preference file.

IPhoto 6 trouble EXPORTING VERTICAL photos; Unable to create/Users/...

I've been trying everything I can think of to export all of my photos to Finder folders and then to albums on a website - either by selecting and dragging to the folder OR by exporting. The horizontal photos export easily, but the VERTICAL photos will not move out of iPhoto. The message that pops up is: "Exporting - Unable to create/Users/my name/place tp which I'd like to export." Nor will the VERTICAL photos enlarge/display when I double click on them in iPhoto - the window that comes up has a gray square with an exclamation mark in it. Since my problem only ocurrs with VERTICAL photos, it seems to be different than the recently posted question about the same message. I did verify my HD disk. My computer savvy is limited, so detailed help is needed! Thanks!

Check them all and leave them checked. The "!" problem can also occur if iPhoto is interrupted while writing to its database file, Library6.iPhoto. See the tip at the end of my signature. It can help you recover from the "!" problem and get your library back to where it was at the time of the last backup.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
