I can receive but not send emails with my skynet account - what am I doing wrong ?
I have no problems with my Yahoo account but I can not send emails with my skynet account.
Actually in iPhone :
Outgoing Mail Server > SMTP "relay.skynet.be"
Primary server > Not Configured > Off
Thank you ...

When you set them up, did you set up both the incoming and outgoing email servers separately, and did you enter the correct SMTP server name, and enter your userid and password even though it says "optional"?
Something else to try, if you haven't, is delete the accounts, connect the iPhone to iTunes, on the Info tab check the box to sync mail server settings, then sync. This should duplicate the settings from your computer to your iPhone.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

  • 5th gen ipod can receive but not send emails

5th gen ipod can receive but not send emails. I have iPad with same settings and no issues. Yet, I keep getting "cannot send mail" the user name or password for "[email protected]" is incorrect. Please assist. I am not running both accounts simultaneously

    See:
iOS: Unable to send or receive email
    Did it work before?
I suspect a error in the settings for the outgoing mail server.

  • Read this if you can receive, but not send email

If you can receive, but cannot send email on your iPhone, try the following:
Add your outgoing Server Port Number to your "Outgoing Mail Server Name"
    Example: smtp.example.com:XXXX
where XXXX is your Outgoing Server Port Number ( eg. 25 )
For specifics on how to do this, read on.
    From the Home Screen, select:
    Settings
    *Mail,Contacts ...*
your email Account ex: [email protected]
Scroll down to Outgoing Mail Server
Then select your outgoing mail server *SMTP smtp.example.com*
    Select Primary Server smtp.example.com
Host Name change smtp.example.com to smtp.example.com:XXXX
where XXXX is your Outgoing Server Port Number.
This worked great, but unfortunately this helpful hint could not be found on the Apple support forum ... until now
    Hope this helps!

This worked for me too! (iPhone 3G 2.02). Apple's once-over-lightly help with this issue is really lame. I thought better of Apple but they are turning into just another Dell or Microsoft.

  • Can receive, but not send emails

I've been trying to set up a new mail account on Apple Mail for the past several days. Thus far, I'm able to receive emails with the account, but not send. I've contacted my internet provider to confirm that my settings are correct, and they are, but it's still not working. They said I need to contact Apple.
    He are my specifics:
MAC OS 10.5, Apple Mail, Time Warner Road Runner: Eastern North Carolina.
They have recommended: stmp-server.ec.rr.com, alternate port setting: 25. No SSL, and no authentication.
I have tried a few other settings too... the standard ports setting, alternate port setting: 587, SSL selected, and my user name and password for authentication.
    Can someone help me?
    Thanks in advance!

I've had the same issue setting up my Time Warner Road Runner email account on a new iMac OS 10.5.5, so I can totally relate to your problem.
At first I could receive messages, but couldn't send. After multiple attempts to fix the settings, I finally found the right combination to be able to send:
    1) Open the Mac Mail application
    2) Click onto "Mail" in the top bar next to the apple symbol and click onto "Accounts"
    3) Look down on the bottom of that window for the "Outgoing Mail Server" drop-down window, and click the drop-down window and select "Edit Server List"
    4) Make sure that the server listed in the top of the next screen says:
    smtp-server.ec.rr.com
    5) Look down below in the same screen and click onto "Advanced"
    6) Make sure the server port is 25 (not 587)
    7) Also make sure that "Use Secure Socket Layers (SSL) is NOT CHECKED in the check box.
    8) Make sure that the drop-down window below the server port info marked as "Authentication" is showing "none"
    9) Click "OK"
    10) Close out the Accounts window, so that it asks you to Save new settings. Be sure to hit "Save"
    11) Close out of the Mac Mail program
    12) Re-Open Mac Mail program and test it out by sending yourself.
    13) You should see that dummy message sent out, and then received into your Inbox.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can recieve but not send email with Airport

    Hi there,
I'm currently using my mac to connect to the internet via an airport express configured on my partners powerbook, it all works fine to connect to the internet and to recieve emails through 'Mail' but i can't send any...
Could anyone offer any advice on how to reconfigure my settings to allow me to use my emails properly?
Incidently, the existing network connection i'm now using is through BT internet whereas my account is with virgin.net.
Why can i recieve mail but not send?
    OK, hope someone can help...
    Thanks, steven.

Without you being specific about your problem, I am guessing you have the same problem I had. You can look at the following
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=75124
or describe the error message that comes up when you send e-mail.

  • ICloud email account and Outlook 2010 - can receive but not send email

I've set up Outlook 2010 with iCloud email account.  I receive email, but cannot send.  Get the message "You don't have permission..., right-click and make default..." Which I have done.  Still doesn't work.
    Can anyone help ?
    Thanks in advance.

It is possible that your Internet service provider requires you to send on a certain port with a certain name.
The outgoing server name should start with imap...
If you have a service that requires you to send via a different server - then use that server to send, but log on to it with your usual name (for example you might send from an AT&T Yahoo! server on the ports they recommend if you have AT&T DSL and login with something like [email protected] for the outgoing server - but you can probably still set the From Address to [email protected]).  Actually I haven't needed to make this change for my iCloud account, but the change I did have to make was to change the outgoing server name from p08.imap... to imap... - the iCloud client software did not install the right incoming or outgoing mail server names.
If that fails - set up a New Outlook.pst file - from the file menu.

  • Can receive but not send email

all of the sudden I can't send a message using my mac.com SMTP server. Instead the message goes to my outbox with an error message "this message could not be delivered and will remain in your Outbox until it can be delivered. The sender address was rejected by the server." I can however send it using the outgoing mail server associated with my DSL address. How can I send it with my SMTP mac.com account again??

I noticed that I have the exact same issue this morning. My feeling is that there is something not right on the Apple side because I haven't changed anything and suddenly it stopped working.
I had a separate issue this summer where I was not able to update anything on my apple-hosted website. After dealing with MobileMe support for about a month, we weren't able to get anywhere. I left if alone for a few days and then miraculously, it started working again.
I'm going to leave it be for a few days and see what happens. In the meantime, I can check and send email on Safari, just not on the mail program. Inconvenient, yes, but it's no use getting frustrated until the Apple engineers plug something back in.

  • New to BT can receive but NOT send emails -why!?

Hi I've just set up with BT and have spent a great deal of time on the phone... my settings seem fine
    outgoing port 587
    outgoing sever mail.btinternet.com
password checked correct email address and password
but the email will not send! arrggghh!
Additionally it all works on airport but if I want to go via ethernet nothing it doesn't recognise the correct IP address but stubbornly on;y sees 169.254.47.216
    please help

The specified IP address is in the 169.254.0.0/16 is the self-assigned link-local address block. That address block is used (among other uses) when the host is not receiving an IP address in response to its DHCP requests. This usually means that there's either no DHCP server, there's a misconfigured or restricted DHCP server, or there's a connectivity issue between the client and the DHCP server.
You'll want to look at the wiring between your client and whatever here is (supposed to be) offering up IP addresses in response to DHCP requests, inclusive.

  • TS1398 can receive but not send emails

I have unsent messages in my outbox that will not send . they were created from a guest wifi connection.  the settings say that i am connected and can surf the internet. I can however send and receive messages created from my  home with no problem but the ones created in the guest wifi environment remain unsent. Would appreciate anyone who can help with this bazar problem. thanks Roy

I would suggest that you force quit the mail app, however I'm not sure if your drafts will survive the process. Double tap the home button. When you see the apps and preview windows line up on the screen, scroll sideways until the mail app is on the screen. Flick the preview up and off the screen to force close the app.
I just don't know if the draft is saved in the iPad's memory or if it isn't. Don't know how many mails you have or if you can cut/paste the contents into the notes app - just so you don't lose it and can then force quit the mail app and recreate those mails.

  • Just set up email... Can receive but not send emails? Help

Just got new iPad wifi only.  Have set up email.  Can receive them but cannot send ...any suggestions

Check the outgoing mail server setting. Make sure that your username and password are in there.
Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Your email account>Account>Outgoing mail server - tap the server name next to SMTP and check in the primary server and make sure your username and password are entered and correct - even if it says that the password is optional.

Why would you not want to run IMAP? Setting up Google IMAP with Mail (http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=77663&topic=12761) or any other program (http://mail.google.com/support/bin/topic.py?topic=12760) is anything but trivial.

  • Can receive but not send emails, this just happened

My phone stopped being able to send messages, I can still receive

The problem seems to have fixed itself. This was a new out of the box Macbook Pro and I ran the setup assistant instead of doing everything manually. Immediately encountered the send problem. Ran software update and mail would not quit, had to use Activity Monitor and force quit it. Could not reboot to finish the update because Mail would not quit.
Upon reboot and the update the computer can send and receive just fine.
So thanks for all the help anyway. I'm still scratching my head trying to figure out what happened that fixed it.
