I just thought I'd add to this post as I am trying to find a solution to the same problem.
Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?

Hello, sounds like you haven't switched to iCloud yet, the old dot Mac & MobileMe servers are going away or gone for most already.
Do not delete the old account yet. sign up for an iCloud account if you haven't.
I understand .mac mail will still come through. Do not delete the old account yet.
You cannot use .mac or MobileMe as type of Account, you have to choose IMAP when setting up, otherwise Mail is hard coded to change imap.mail.me.com to mail.me.com & smtp.mail.me.com to smtp.me.com, no matter what you try to enter.
iCloud Mail setup, do not choose .mac or MobileMe as type, but choose IMAP...
On second step where it asks "Description", it has to be a unique name, but you can still use your email address.
IMAP (Incoming Mail Server) information:
• Server name: imap.mail.me.com
• SSL Required: Yes
• Port: 993
• Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
• Password: Your iCloud password
SMTP (outgoing mail server) information:
• Server name: smtp.mail.me.com
• SSL Required: Yes
• Port: 587
• SMTP Authentication Required: Yes
• Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
• Password: Your iCloud password
Also, you must upgrade your password to meet the new criteria: 8 characters, including upper and lower case and numbers. If you have an older password that does not meet these criteria, when you try to setup mail on your mac, using all of the IMAP criteria listed above, it will still give a server error message. Go to http://appleid.apple.com then follow directions to change your password, then go back to setting up your mail using the IMAP instructions above.

How can I get my new iTunes account to allow me to Sync my iTouch? The only option it gives me is to "transfer purchases" from my iTouch to iTunes, but that is only about 25% of my iTunes library-most of it is CDs I have uploaded. How can I Sync without losing all my music from my iTouch???
Also, I have lectures and photos, etc. on my iTouch that I don't want to lose.
I've tried a few of the iPod copy programs-the free ones and the ones you have to pay for, but I can't find one that will work for ALL my content on an iTouch.
Right now, I can't get anything from my iTouch to iTunes, and I can't update my iTouch with my new iTunes purchases, so I'm stuck! Help!

Also-I tried to use my backup hard drive, but I wasn't able to drag/transfer/send/move any of my muic files onto my iTouch when the iTouch was connected to my computer. I can't figure out why it won't let me do that.
The only thing I can see when I open my iTouch on my computer is my file with photos. I can't see videos, music, or anything else. What's going on?

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

When you read the ebooks on your iPad (with you logged in using your Acrobat account), did you explicitly save those files to Acrobat.com? Are you able to access those same files in browser?

Multiple hotmail accounts but one will not send mails and gives no error messages

I have four hotmail accounts on my iPad (me, kids, wife) and we have all been using them fine however, my wife's hotmail account will not send mails. I get no error messages at all for this to explain why, it just doesn't reach the intended recipient and does not turn up in the sent mail folder.
I have deleted the account and re installed using a number of the choices including other outlook and even tried yahooing no change.
Can anyone assist.

This problem in Mail is usually caused by some Launch Services cache or preferences corruption that affects the built-in spell checker. The following article describes how to manually reset Launch Services — the notes at the bottom of the article also provide information about the side effects of deleting each of the files involved:

If you prefer using a cache cleaning utility instead of following the manual procedure described in the previous article, take a look at this other article for general troubleshooting and cache-cleaning procedures. Actually, you should also verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described there:

The most appropriate utility for this particular problem probably is Tiger Cache Cleaner, but you may also want to consider other utilities, such as OnyX, or Cache Out X, which are free. Whatever utility you choose, be sure to read this first:

1. Quit all applications.
2. Launch OnyX and enter your administrator password.

HT1277 E-mails on an old account, but I can't see them !

Hi,
I recently changed ISP's and for a time kept both accounts, new and old, running on Mail, so I could pick and choose which of the senders I wanted to advise of my new address and get rid of the SPAM for a while. Incidentally, the old account was with Orange and the new one is with Sky.
I eventually deleted the old account, I can't remember exactly how, but now, everytime I go into Mail, I seem to be getting all of the mails that would have gone to my old account. BUT, whilst I can see them being counted in, I cannot see them anywhere within Mail! For example, I went in the other day and found I was about to receive 86 mails. However, only 4 turned up on the new and now only account. Where do the rest go? Any ideas please?

Not sure what you mean by that. Its either runing as a POP account, or an Exchange account. can't be both, unless you mean that your PC mail application is exchange.
Assuming the account is POP, it is quite possible the email client on your PC is removing the emails from the server when you download them on it.
If you are going to manage email on more than one device, I suggest you consider moving to an IMAP account. Using POP for this is quite frankly more trouble than it is worth.

I can't send e-mails from my hotmail account with my Macbook

Please help, I've noticed recently that I am unable to send e-mails from my hotmail account from my Macbook. I was able to send e-mails today from work (non-macbook). It's getting stressful as I have no idea what to do!

We took our MacBook Pro to the apple store, after a long trial and error, they FIXED the problem!
It turns out that one of the files was corrupt, it was either Java or Silverlight.
My suggestion to you is to remove Java than restart and then reinstall Java. See if hotmail works. If not, than, remove Silverlight reboot than reinstall Silverlight.
For us, it was one of those two files that were corrupt and that was causing hotmail to not be able to send email.
I'm not sure what the procedure is to remove and reinstall files, all I know is that my wives MacBook can now send email using hotmail.

Unable to send but can recieve mail

I am unable to send any mail from my hotmail account on my iphone, it says the username or password is wrong, which I double checked and it is right and I can receive. I have not changed any settings and I was able to send yesterday.
What could be the cause?

i have aol and my college mail set up and synced together perfectly. i can recieve mail for both and i am very happy with it. the only problem is that i can not send mail. when i do it says INCORRECT DOMAIN IN MAIL/RCPT COMMAND. im not exactly sure what i have to set up for the mai preferences. i've tried placing authentication to none and on password but nothing works. i would appreciate any help.

Well, I don't think you're going to be able to solve this problem if you don't know what the outgoing server settings should be, and in the case of your college account, there is no way for me to know either.

Cannot recieve mail to my new account

So I went to the support page and went through all the trouble shooting, but I still cannot recieve mail to the new account I have set up. I can send mail, but I am not able to recieve any. I have tried virtually everything. I went to mailbox, clicked "go online" that turns the inbox from grey to black, but as soon as I hit the "get mail" button it makes a ching noise and goes back to being grey. Please help.

I am wondering if your problem started on 10/23, as mine did. I can not receive or send email. What I am actually wondering about is whether Apple might have something in the code so that after a certain number of updates, the program breaks, and we all are forced to upgrade. It would be lousy enough if that is what's happening, but the loss of 40 hours of labor and the stress of trying to repair it would really suck!!
