I can scan a document but can't save it

I scanned and save several docs but then I could not find the saved docs for the next few a did ; everything is ok but the saved document simply does not exists.

iPhoto_Pref_and_Cache make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
     User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
     User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.

  • Scanning a document but only offer in file names are image options

I am trying to scan a document but my only options in the file names are image file names (.jpeg, bitmat etc...) I tried running the HP fix I found in another forum answer, downloaded and ran it, ran a test scan and saw all sorts of options including pdf. My test scan ran great, and my document scanned in as a .pdf. I then tried to scan again but again my only options were as an image file names. I restarted my PC but still the same issue. I am running windows XP.

In the print dialog of Acrobat choose 'Form fields only'.

  • I have scanned a document, how do I save to a specific folder on an external drive from the Preview application?

I have scanned a document, how do I save to a specific folder on an external drive from the Preview application?

There is no 'Save as' in Lion.  If it's a new document then select File -> Save will bring up a standard 'Save' dialog box which will allow you to specify the location.  Otherwise select File -> Duplicate and then save the duplicate.

  • I duplicated a Pages document but didn't save it. Can I get that back?

I write a monthly newsletter for my organization. Every month, I use the same format, so I duplicate it and then work off the old document changing what I need to. I had limited sleep the night before I was working on it and went to close the original pages document (last month's newsletter) and was actually on the duplicated page. When it asked me if I wanted to save changes, I thought, "of course not! That's the old document!" So I closed it without saving. Turns out, that was the current newsletter I was halfway through. Is there any possible way to get this back? I really hope so. It was a couple hours of work I'll have to replicate.

    Hi rvapohl,
If you did not save at least once, then I am afraid that your work has evaporated.
You don't say what version of operating system you are using. Please update your profile.
If you are using a Mac with OS X Mountain Lion, you can find "Save As..." under the File menu by holding down the option key. Far more intuitive than "Duplicate".

    Ian.

  • My Photosmart 5512 can copy, scan, print documents, but it won't print web pages

Yesterday, having had problems scanning on my HP Photosmart 5512 All-in-One printer after an HP update, I went to the HP support site and downloaded the most recent driver for my printer.  Once it had finished downloading, it automatically went into the installation process.  Almost everything ended up working fine except I'm unable to print a web page.  I can print from Word and Excel, I can make copies, and I can scan.
I installed and then ran the print and scan doctor, but to no avail.  When I looked at the print queue there was nothing there, even though I had made four attempts to print a webpage.
Does anyone there have any ideas?  Your assistance would be most appreciated.
    Dena Sommer

Thank you for your help!  I tried reseting the printing system and removed the printer (as indicated in the instructions); however, when trying to add the printer back on it says, "Unable to communicate with the printer at this time."  The printer says that it's connected and the ePrint setting is on... Any suggestions of what to do from here?

  • I am trying to scan a document, but my printer utility will not give me the option to scan.

I am trying to can a document on my computer.  However, when I bring up the printer utility it does not give me the option to scan.  I have a laptop that does allow this option, but I don't want to go through the hassle of downloading to one device and emailing to another.  HELP!!!

My experience, albeit slightly different, is that the scan functionality available from an Epson XP-600 is less on my iMac 21.5" than on an old Dell machine that ran on Microsoft. I suspect it's because the majority of home computers & laptops run on Microsoft platforms and this gets reflected in the amount of programming effort put in by printer/scanner manufacturers.

    Hi LFC58,
    Thanks for that.
In that case, it is possible that your product needs a firmware update or a replacement.

  • Asked to send edited and signed document but won't save

I'm having a problem with a document I've been asked to fill out, I've filled out the document, I've signed the document, and then clicked on 'Done Signing' The prompt to save comes up, but when I go back into the system, I find the file is not there. It prompts to save the document with -signed on the end of the original document. I've tried saving onto the original but no luck. I originally sent the document and was told it came out blank.
    I'm using version 10.1.5.
    Any help would be appreciated.

I am experiencing a similar issue with Adobe reader 11.
I have a number of users who will be authorizing and signing invoices with a digital signature (not Echosign).
The intention is then to save the file in the same location on the Network, replacing the original.
However, since using version 11, it appears that as soon as you add a signature to an invoice, you are prompted to save the file as: {filename}-signed
Having the '-signed' added to the file, then means we will be left with 2 copies of the invoice on the network drive. And as the other part of the process involves openign the invoices by using a hyperlink, we will have big problems with duplicated files etc...
I know that the user should be able to delete the '-signed' extension, but errors may occur, where they don't always delete accurately.
So, is there a way to switch this facility off?
    thanks

  • I can not print document but I can scan document

    Hi
I have HP PAVILION N278SA model laptop and I have HP F4100 series all in one printer and using many years. I was printing some documents. I printed off one document from one of my email . Then when I clicked other email and wanted to print other document which was not attached file.  My laptop gave 'printer is off line' sign, since then I tried many word documents from my laptop or other email documents but I could not print off any of documents. When I want to scan a document, the printer let me scan the document. The scanning is not problem. My printer connected to my laptop via usb cable and also plugged in via cable on wall. I switched off printer few times and disconnected from my laptop around 30 seconds but it did not work.
I also went to 'devices and printers then click default printer which is F4100 series then open printer window. Then I went to 'what is printing' part then click print and start but did not work either. the printer does not print test page
    Thank you for your support

    Hi,
Try following the tool below by selecting Fix Printing and check if that may rewsolve the problem:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?cc=us&lc=en&jumpid=ex_r4155/hho/ipg/ccdoc/p...
If that doesn't help, power off the printer and reboot your PC.
Next open Devices and Printers and select See what's printing for the printer.
From the Printer menu click on Cancel All Documents and ensure the print queue is clear, then turn the printer on again and try printing.

  • Can commenting tools be used for a PDF document created by scanning another document?

I have Adobe Reader X.  It has commenting tools.  I
created a PDF file by scanning another docu
ment (a newpaper clipping) to the PDF file for an attachment to an Email. I am not able to use the highlighting tool on the new PDF document.  Since I was the author of the PDF document in this case (but obviously did not use Adobe Acrobat to create it), can I somehow enable use of commenting tools for the document?

The highlight tool works for highlighting text that is in the document (as text objects). Images of text, which is what you get with a scan, cannot be highlighted with this tool, even if you had Acrobat.

  • Can scan to email but cannot scan to computer using 6830 and OS Yosemite

I just purchased 6830  to use with my imac with Yosemite.  I am able to scan to email but I am not able to scan to computer.  I have installed the latest driver .  I followed directions to access HP utility and there was no way to get to scan preferences.  Any ideas how to scan to computer.  I keep getting message to open up the utility which does not get may anywhere.

    Hi @pfgoodman1,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand that you can scan to email but cannot scan to computer using your HP Officejet 6830 and OS Yosemite. I am sorry to hear this but I am happy to help!
First, I would make sure that the full feature software and driver is installed and not just the basic software.
Then I would recommend the following guides:
Scan From the Control Panel (Including Scan to Email, to a PDF, and to a Memory Device) for HP Offic.... (Select Scanning a photo (.jpeg) or document (.pdf) to the computer.)
A 'No Computer Found' Message Displays for HP Officejet 6810 and HP Officejet Pro 6830 e-All-in-One ....
    Hope this helps!

  • How can I change the page size of a scanned PDF document?

How can I change the page size of a scanned PDF document?
I scanned a 50-page document with an HP 5610xi All-In-One using the software that comes with it: HP Scan Pro. Though the physical document has standard 8.5" x 11" pages, the PDF resulting from scanning has page size set to 35.42 × 48.67 inches (according to Preview's "Tools > Inspector". I want to resize the pages to 8.5" x 11". Shouldn't Preview be able to do that with "Tools > Adjust Size..."? When I try, the menu option is grey so I can't select it.
    I'm using Preview Version 4.2.

Thanks for the insight; that explains why it's the wrong size. I selected 300dpi scanning (which is the default, actually), but HP Scan Pro evidently created a PDF with 72dpi indicated. I want it fixed because I want to distribute the file to other people and have them able to print or display it without problems.
I still don't know why Preview won't let me change it, but your question about whether I wanted to print it did lead me to find a workaround: "File > Print" and "Save as PDF..." saved it with the correct page size.

  • I have scanned a document and saved it to desk top - when I have then attached to an email it says no plug and attachments don't send. How do I add plug in so pdf documents can be attached and opened.

I have scanned a document and then saved it to desktop. It has saved as a pdf. When I have then attached it to email and sent - an message comes up saying no plug ins - The recipent couldnt open files. How can I rectify this so that I can attach pdf pleaase

search the app store for PDF Writer. I've found a lot that will convert documents to PDF, but none yet that will write within the PDF. One thing you want to avoid are cloud based apps. Any of them that talk about editing on the cloud, etc, aren't going to be as standalone as you want.
It's possible, if you can take your template PDF, turn it into a word document that you can edit, you can then convert that to PDF...kinda a workaround way to do what you want. And apps that convert to PDF are much easier to find

  • How can I scan a document to PDF in Windows 7 Professional

I have a Canon MX892 which I previously used with Windows XP. I was able to scan documents to PDF very easily using the Canon Solutions Menu EX.  I am now using Windows 7 Pro 64. I downloaded the associated version of Canon Solutions Menu EX, but it is completely different from the Windows XP with far less functionality.  Is there some way to scan documents to PDF with Windows 7 Pro?

    Hi daberg,
There is a program called MP Navigator that comes with the printer that can assist you with scanning a document in as a PDF file.  Once you are in the MP Navigator program, please follow these steps to scan and save a document in PDF format:
     1.  When MP Navigator opens, click on the ONE-CLICK option at the top of the window.
     2.  Click on the SAVE AS PDF FILE button.
     3.  Place the document you want to scan on the Platen, then select your Document Type (either Color or Black and White Photo or Document), Size, and Resolution.
     4.  In the FILENAME section, the default name for the file will be IMG; you can change this to something else if you would like by highlighting the IMG and then typing over it.
     5.  In the SAVE IN section, you will see the folder path and location that the file will be saved to when you scan it; if you would like to change the location, please click on the SPECIFY button and select the location where you would like the file saved to.
     6.  Below the SAVE IN section, there is a checkbox titled SAVE TO A SUBFOLDER WITH THE CURRENT DATE.  If you leave this checkbox checked, then whatever folder location you select will have a folder with the current date of the scan placed in it, and inside of the currently dated folder will be the file that you scanned.  If you do not want to have the program create the subfolder, please uncheck that box.
     7.  Click the green SCAN button.  Scanning starts.  When scanning is completed, the file will be saved in the location you specified.
     8.  You can then close out of the MP Navigator program and go to the location where you specified the file to save.  You should find the PDF file in that location.
    Hope this helps!
