I am 60+ years old and very new to Spiceworks.com and also very new to networking and devices on my small home network I have about 20 devices that share the network and I have managed over time to see what is on my network.
Now I just have to find a way to find out which device is hogging the bandwidth I will be back lol

WWhy can't I finish reading some of my books I bought in iBook? I synced from my old 16GB IPOD TOUCH, I only get about a third or half the way through and it freezes.
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Delete the books and redownload
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device. -
On startup my macbookair says start up disk full/delete some files. When I look at storage disk utility I see 51GB of a possible 60GB is used with Other. What is Other? and how can I view and delete some of these files?
A MacBook will use Time Machine to make local backups so that when connected to an external drive it will backup a lot faster.
to disable this, you must use a command under terminal.
to locate terminal, do a search for it under spotlight (the magnifying glass on the top right corner), should be the first hit.
once under terminal, type the following text exactly:
sudo tmutil disablelocal
hit enter.
you will be asked to input your password, if you do not have a password, you will have to create one before performing this command. after entering your password, hit enter again and close terminal.
in a few minutes the space taken up by time machine should be cleared. -
I just installed Photoshop CS5 on a new Mac . On my older Mac I saw in Bridge on the above right sight of a miniature, a kind of aperture sign so that you know the RAW photo was treat.

How do I get back that sign on my new Mac?Apple provides repeat downloads as a convenience, not a substitute for your computers being the primary source of file transfers. All your iTunes information such as playlists, ratings, etc. are in a file on your computer, not in the Apple Store. Typically when you move computers you copy the whole iTunes folder and everything it contains to the new computer. Moving media files can be done with a drive, or by Home Sharing. You can also redownload media but let's say somebody desiced Apple may no longer sell a certain album; it cannot be downloaded again but if you already have it on a computer you can move your copy of the file.
5 authorizations: Some households have multiple computers. If you want ot use one with an account it has to be authroized. It means you can use any computer in the house to make purchaes, etc.

Please be aware that you are not communicating with Apple when you post in these forums. These are user-to-user support forums, so in almost all cases the only people who will reply to your posts are, like Seventy-One and me, your fellow users.
And as to your complaint, you don't need to wait for the receipt. Just look in your Purchase History; that will give you the order number. Then go here:
http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/
and follow the instructions to report the issue to the iTunes Store.
Note as well that a refund is by no means guaranteed. The terms of sale for the iTunes Store state that all sales are final, so the iTunes Store may well refuse, though in my experience they try to be accommodating whenever they can.

I am trying to delete duplicate content in my iTunes library. I have stopped the download and I can see them on VIEW>Displaying Duplicates, but cannot delete them with the Delete button. Can anyone assist?
If you've paused the download (they are partially greyed out on the duplicates screen ?) then you will need to delete them from download window, you can't (as far as I know) delete partially downloaded items from that screen. When you have items downloading, or downloads that are paused, you should have a downward pointing arrow at the top right of the iTunes screen
If you click that arrow you should get a popup window with the items that are downloading/paused - and you should be able to select and delete them (or resume their download) from there. -
I purchased two movies which I can see have been deducted from my account. However, they are not in my library after waiting a long time for them to download. I can't access the movies I have already paid for! They are also not in my cloud. I am completely frustrated. At this point I just want a refund and will never try to watch a movie on here again!
If you bought them on your iPad then they should have downloaded into the iPad's Videos app - is that where you are looking for them ?
If they aren't there then have you tried searching for them via the iPad's spotlight search screen ? Pull down the centre of the home screen in iOS 7, swipe your first home screen to the right in iOS 6 and below.
If that doesn't find them either, and they don't show in the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app for redownloading (films won't show there in all countries), then try the 'report a problem' page to contact iTunes Support (these are user-to-user forums) : http://reportaproblem.apple.com

I'm trying to read some XML data from temperature logger over my network. I'm using LabView version 2009 sp1. I'm using the URL Get Document Vi. It works fine when using Internet sites like google or foxnews etc...
When I use it with my temperature logger most of the time I get an Error 66...but some times it does work and actually retrieves the document.
I can use the same address "http://172.22.21.68/XMLfeed.rb" (Internet Explorer or Google Chrome) in my browser and get a response every time. When accessing from my browser the server in the temperature logger does take around 6 seconds to respond, but it does respond every time.
Is the URL Get Document Vi exceeding a timeout? If so, where can I set it to wait longer?

Error 66.jpg 183 KBIt looks like the TCP Buffered Read has a 2.5 sec timeout, I believe that is where I had trouble as well. Try creating your own URL Get HTTP Doc vi in which you call URL Get Document in normal mode, with an appropriate number of characters to fetch (enough characters so that you capture all the important data in the XML file).

Just bought a canon rebel t2i as a gift, not out of box yet. Called apple first and they said camera was compatible with imovie 11. reading comments that users are having difficulty with imovie reading files from rebel. any comments.
I don't see the camera listed for any version of iMovie:

That means that any videos you shoot will have to be imported into iPhoto and then moved to iMovie. -
How can I download and read a SWF file on IPad 2? The message returned is that Safari cannot download that file
SWF files are flash files, which are not supported on the iPad : http://www.apple.com/hotnews/thoughts-on-flash/
If you want to play the file then the iSwifter or Skyfire browser apps might work (they don't work on all flash sites) but you won't be able to download it -
can you operate the mac book pro 15 inch with out the battery? I read somewhere in a post that it lowers the power to about 1 gig with out the battery. I asked apple and they said it is not true because you can use the comp with the power adapter and battery together or either by itself and it will not effect the 2.16 gig. Thank you.
If you remove the battery the CPU power will be cut by 50% (whatever they told you) so that there's no lack of power or overheating issues. It's best to always keep the battery in.

Applw TV cannot "see" my computer even though I have verified that both are set to the same home sharing account. The router works OK as Netflix comes through as does access to music.

Where Clause in Logical Table Source
I have a dimension table joined to a fact table in BMM Layter. I would like to apply a filter in the where clause of the dimension table. Does the fact table also require the same exact filter to be applied in the where clause.
