I can see my Mac Desktop clutter THROUGH my PS windows

MacOS 10.5.8
iMac 2.66 GH Intel Core 2 Duo
Photoshop CS4 extended (ver 11.0).
My computer's desktop is faintly visible through working Photoshop windows.
When I captured a screen shot (<command><shift>4) it didn't capture the bleed-through so I simulated what it sort of looks like with the included file.

Marion, I didn't know that LCDs burned in. This screen is only six months old.
The phenomenon occurs onbly in Photoshop and Apple's Preview. Also during some Illustrator situations when the app is doing some masking (such as when redefining the "artboard".) I think it has something to do with the OS and possibly part of the GUI which uses translucency as a UI feature. I think the OS is getting confused or possibly the applications are incorrectly handling this OS feature.
Sometimes it is blantently obvious and makes fine image manipulation difficult. Other times it is barely noticeable or absent. I think I'll approach Apple with this. I took some photographs to capture the phenonenon, but the Moire effects make it pretty difficult to see.

Drag applications from your main desktop off the right side of the screen and they will appear on the TV.  This is the extended desktop mode.

    Hi again,
The problem may be corrupted preferences. If it persists, use the Finder's Go dropdown menu at top of screen and select Go to folder. Input ~/Library/Preferences and move these files to the Trash.

Can my 2007 Mac desktop use a Thunderbolt device?  Is there an adaptor available?

You're posting in the Mac Pro desktop forum. If that's what you have, the answer is no for Thunderbolt but yes for USB 3.0. Check out these PCIe cards for USB 3.0.
If you have an iMac, then it's just no as Carolyn Samit says.

  • Mac Pro Can't See MS-DOS Fat32 HD on PowerPC G4 Connected Via Ethernet, But Can See Its Mac HDs

I have a Mac Pro (aluminum Late 2010) running 10.9.5 connected to a PowerPC G4 running 10.4.11 via a ethernet cable running from the 2nd ethernet jack on the Mac Pro to the ethernet jack on the PowerPC G4.
I've connected to the PowerPC G4 via the Power Mac's network connection and I am able to see and interact with two of the G4's HDs, which have 10.4 and 10.5 installed. The G4 also has a third blank HD which is formatted in MS-DOS Fat32 format which I can see on the G4's desktop. I can't however, see the Fat32 drive on my Mac Pro's Network window, just the two Mac formatted drives.
Is there anyway to see the G4's Fat32 drive on the Mac Pro?

That did the trick! Thank You!

  • I can see my mac in "Back to my mac" but I can't connect to share the screen

    Here is my set up:
    At home:
    Modem ---ethernet---> Airport Extreme ---ethernet---> Macbook (10.7.3)
Back to my mac turned on in iCloud
NAT port mapping turned on in Airport Utility for the Airport Extreme
Macbook is plugged in and set to NEVER go to sleep
Wake for network access is turned on
Screen sharing is turned on and set up for one user with a password
I've tested screen sharing on the local network with my wifes MacBookPro and it works
    At work:
iMac also running 10.7.3 and connected to same icloud account
Finder set to show "Back to my mac" in "shared"
I can see my macbook in the shared section of finder on the imac and it shows "share screen" as an option, and not "connect."  I don't have anything other than "screen sharing" turned on in "sharing" settings on the macbook, so this is how it should look.  This looks exactly the same as when I tested it on the local network with the MBP.
However, when I click "share screen" I get connecting to "Jimbob's Mac" and rather than the usual prompt for a password, I get:
    Connection failed to "Jimbob's Mac"
Please make sure that Screen Sharing (in the Sharing section of System Preferences) is enabled on the computer to which you are attempting to connect. Also make sure your network connection is working properly.
Any help or tips on what I need to reconfigure would be appreciated.
and for the record, my name is not actually Jimbob

  • I can see other Macs on network, but I can't connect via afp, smb or Bonjour

    Hello.
I have a Mac Pro running 10.6.8, a Macbook Pro running Lion, an Ipad 2nd generation and an Iphone 4. All the devices "see" each other, but I am unable to establish a connection.
For instance: I can see the other mac in the finder, but a connection can't be made neither via clicking or using command + K
I can see my iTunes libraries in the remote app, but it wont connect to the iTunes library. Same with iChat: in the Bonjour network both macs see each other, but no message is delivered.
However, I can connect to the harddrive, that is connected to my airport extreme. Previously I thought my router was the problem, but now I exchanged it with this airport Extreme.
In another thread I read something about adding 10.0.1.* to "Bypass proxy settings for these Hosts and Domains" in the network proxy settings, but this did not help. Although I am not sure if I entered it right.
Any ideas how to resolve this problem?

    Hi,
Please turn off the Windows Firewall in the Control Panel for test:
Control Panel->type firewall in the search box->Windows Firewall->Turn Windows Firewall on or off->Turn off
    Windows Firewall (not recommended)->OK
    Then Make sure all computer
    turn on the network discovery.
Also, apps that are managed from non-domain servers cannot see or control this Windows 7 machine
In addition, make sure the Server, Windows 7 and other comouter in the same network. Otherwise it can't be accessed each other.

  • Control alt delete from remote desktop connection through virtual pc windows xp on windows 7 professional

Ok this is an odd one but I am connecting to a server through a vpn which only works on windows xp so I ran a virtual pc instance to connect, and then did a remote desktop connection to the server (Windows server 2008). I need to be able to activate the
control-alt-delete combination on the server however, to change a password. ctrl + alt + del obviously goes back to my actual machine, and ctrl + alt + end acts on my virtual pc. Is there any way to push the command through to the remote server?

    Hi Cooljoe,
Based on my understanding, local machine control-alt-delete key combination is control-alt-delete.
Virtual PC's control-alt-delete key combination is Right Alt - Delete.
Remote Destop session's control-alt-delete key combination is ctrl + alt +
    end.
There should be no conflicts between them.

  • Is it possible to get ReadWrite Mac HFS+ drivers for windows 7 so I can manage my Mac formatted Backups through windows bootcamp?

    Hello!
I was just curious if there was a driver or something I can install so that I can read and write my mac OSX formatted [HFS+] external drives in Windows 7,
using the windows file explorer [the equivalent for finder].
This is essential for me because I need the windows explorer copy/file transfer dialog box with all it's options and functionality.
Any suggestions relating either to windows bootcamp, or running windows through vmware fusion next to mountain lion [I would much prefer to be able to do this with VMWare Fusion, but either way is absolutely fine.]
I need this because I need to do HEAPS of file management,
and I find finder's file transfer / copy dialog box to be totally inadequate, hopeless and almost useless, [a nightmare in fact] next to the excellent functionality of Windows 7 file transfer dialog.
This has been my most hated issue with OSX for years now.
File management is a total nightmare in OSX.
I may make another post / feature request detailing my hatred of this lack of functionality, because it kills me every time I have to manage and backup large folders filled with lots of files and subfolders.
    Sorry for the end-rant.
Thanks so much for any help! (:

    Hello Alberto and Woodmeister50,
thank you for both your answers.
I have to try and remember to state things I have tried previously or am aware of; my bad!
    Alberto:
    Thanks for your ideas.
    I'm aware of ex-fat format.
Unfortunately, my external drives are quite full and a reformat or EXFAT partition is out of the question.
I'm formatted them OSX extended journaled a couple of years back before I was aware of exfat.
I could buy yet another drive, but I don't really want to do that until SSD's come down in price and expand in size.
[also, while not a big issue, I hear EXFAT can't handle files bigger than 4gb. Not that I have many such files, so that's not really a big concern].
So doing my file organization through windows explorer is, to my knowledge, the best option,
if it is possible. [I hope!]
This would be a perfectly satisfactory solution for me if I can use Windows Explorer through VMware to manage and organize the files and folder on my HFS+ external drives.
I'm not sure if paragon HFS+ or Macdrive allow you to use windows explorer to manage files?
Or only through their own file manager and dialogs?
A costly gamble if they do not, and if their file/folder transfer dialog also happens to be inadequate.
    Woodmeister :
    Thanks.
Actually, my problem is both HFS+ / windows compatibility AND that I hate finder
[the HFS problem being a result of the fact I hate finder]
I have tried Pathfinder [the demo version though, maybe it has limited functionality],
and I have found it's file transfer dialog / options / functionality to be very totally lacking as well.
    Others I have tried.
    Mac Explorer.
MoveAddict doesn't seem to work for me presently, although I hear it might be good.
Total finder is fantastic for other reasons but does nothing for the copy dialog.
Um.... there were a bunch of others I tried, but all no good.
So I guess my question is still the same, with a bit more specific information now
For a very in-depth review/analysis of the hatred of finder's lack of features in this area,
there are many threads on many forums, such as can be found if you google for the thread on this forum
GOOGLE : MacRumors OS X: how to merge folder contents, not replace
Please ignore the fact that some ex-windows people are just not used to the fact that "replace" in finder means to replace a whole folder, as this is not the issue.
The lack of functionality is, and there are many pages of mac-loving people complaining about it.

  • Why can't one Mac get online through Airport Express when others can?

I consider myself fairly experienced with Airport issues, but this one has me stumped. We have an Airport Express and a Motorola DSL modem in bridge mode. Lately, I've had problems with our Mac Mini. It has a wifi connection to our network, but can't get online. Meanwhile other devices on the network have no problems getting online. The status light on the Airport is green, and Airport Utility shows this. But on the Mini, Airport Utility shows the Internet as yellow.
When I check Network settings, I see a valid IP address, and if I renew my DHCP lease, I get a new address (it's the same, but it refreshes), but that doesn't help. Sometimes turning of wifi and then turning back on helps, but often that doesn't even get things back. If I restart the computer, I can usually get an internet connection for awhile. I suspect that running the App Store on this computer to do an update may be causing the problem, since the internet connection always gets messed up when I do. But maybe that's a coincidence.
The Airport's internet connection is fine. I test it with other devices when I'm having this problem. But the Mini doesn't recognize this and instead thinks it doesn't have a connection.
A few complicating factors. A year ago we were hit by lightning. The Mini lost its ethernet port, but has been able to connect by wifi ever since. We got a new Airport Express at that time. I don't think there's a connection, but there might be. However, it does mean that I have to run App Store to update over wifi, since I can't connect via the ethernet port.
If anyone has a suggestion on what might be causing this strange behavior, I'd love to hear it. Can't think of what to try to resolve it.

Still no success resolving this issue. One thing I've tried was to delete all of my Airport networks in the Networking pane of System Preferences. I then restarted and logged into my network again, hoping that a corrupted profile file there might be causing the problem. But I still have the same issues. Could it be that too many users are online at the same time? -- I see three computers, three iOS devices, and the smart TV all connected. I'm also wondering if the smart TV could be interfering with wifi enough that the Mini doesn't recognize the internet connection (Airport is always green when this happens, but Internet is yellow in Airport Utility). I tried to get online with the TV when I couldnt' with the mini. No problem there. But maybe there's enough interferance for the Mini that it's not getting a clear signal.

  • HT5891 how do I clear all the apps so I can see just the desktop background like in Snow Leopard all those years ago?

I used to just be able to three finger swipe up!

    Sorry I wasn't quite clear,
I meant that in order to see what I have on my desktop like on startup before I use any apps, I just want to hide any apps that are running without having to actually close any. Say for example I want to open a document or movie that I know is on my desktop I could just swipe up on Snow Leopard and see them, but I don't know how to do this on Mavericks.
