I can see my music in the C: drive / ITunes, but can't access in iTunes

I think w/this new computer I may have agreed to put all my music into Windows media center or something. Can I get it back so I can access in iTunes? I tried reading all the discussions but couldn't figure it out. Like I said, I can see all the album folders in libraries/music/iTunes/iTunes Music -- but it doesn't show up when I open iTunes. Use the iTunes command File > Add Folder to Library. When the dialog comes up, point it the Music folder.

What fixed it for me:
On your computer, open iTunes > My iPhone (or whatever name you gave your iPhone) > "Music" page
Uncheck "Sync Music"
Click "Sync" button (bottom right)
Let it run and finish
Uncheck the box for every song, playlist, etc.
Click "Sync" button (bottom right) (This step may be unnecessary, but I did it and got the result I wanted.)
Let it run and finish
Check the boxes for the music you want on your iPhone
Click "Sync" button (bottom right)
Let it run and finish
See if that doesn't work for you. I tried a lot of things that did nothing, but this seems to have fixed it, and quickly.

Many thanks JEM24 for your help. Ive just spent the best part of six hundred pounds on a new Sony Rx100m2 compact camera, so I have no interest in the Ipods camera at all really. I doubt Ill be watching many videos on it as Im very lucky in that I have a good Android tablet. Its more as a stock music player that Ill be buying the Ipod for, if indeed I do end up buying one. I dont like the idea of paying the exorbitant amount added for more memory space that Apple along with most other companies charge. In fact I read an article on this very subject just yesterday in the tech section of Flipboard. It stated in the article that in the case of the Iphone the actual cost of each additional gigabyte of storage to Apple et al is something in the order of 60p.. This is certainly not reflected in the price us the customer has to pay at the till.. Its for this reason primarily that Apple in particular, because their products do not allow adding expandable memory of your own in the form of cheap to buy cards, that nobody in their right mind buys the 64gig etc Iphones..I am aware that we are discussing my potential purchase of an Ipod Touch here but you see my point. Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with sound on your iPhone. I recommend the following steps for an issue like this:
Verify that the volume is set to a level you would normally be able to hear.
Ensure that there is nothing plugged in to the headset jack or the dock connector.
If the iPhone is in a protective case, make sure that the speaker port isn't blocked by the case.
Make sure that the speaker and dock port aren't clogged with debris. If necessary, clean it with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush. Carefully and gently brush away any debris.
If an audio issue occurs when using a specific application, try testing other applications to see if the issue persists.

My music is backed up on external drive when i disconnect the external drive itunes cannot locate the files on the PC harddrive and none of the music can be accessed how do i fix this?

My harddrive was wiped clean. I upgraded operating system to fr vista to win 7. All music was saved on an external hard drive and i have copied this to itunes on new operating system but itunes can not access any of the music without the external drive being connected. error msg says original files cannot be located. It all depends a bit on how & what you backed up, and how you restored it. Select an affected track. Press CTRL-I to Get Info. Click Cancel when asked to locate the file. Look at the location given on the summary tab. Now look through your computer for file in question. What are the two paths? iTunes could be using the wrong layout (pre or post iTunes 9) in error. Or your library could have been split on the previous system, and not restored to preciesly the same path. Posting back the two paths should make things clearer.

You get this message because iTunes can’t find the file. This can happen for a number of reasons:
The song file or a folder in its path was renamed
The song file or the folder it is in has been moved
The song file has been deleted
The device containing the song files e.g. external drive is not accessible or the drive letter has changed.

How certain are you the superdrive ONLY is at fault?
That depends on your skill level, if you grew up tearing things apart and putting them together, its absurd how easy it is.
For some however its too daunting. On a general skill level for the "average" person its about a 3 out of 10 in difficulty.
Can you order same? yes.

How to copy music from the iPod to iTunes ??

I use iTunes since some months and have bought several songs at iTunes. Now I also bought an iPod and copied the music from iTunes to my iPod.
Because my harddisk was almost full I deleted most songs in my iTunes directory because I thought it is possible to copy music from the iPod to iTunes ... i.e. I thought that the music on my iPod is like a backup.
But now I it seems impossible to copy music back to my computer. Are all those sond lost ?
Dear experts: Is there any possibility to get my music back to my computer ?

You can't sync or drag your non iTMS music back directly from an iPod to iTunes. The transfer of non iTMS content is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve individual music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have you looked in the Music App on your iPhone? On the iPhone music is played by the Music App not iTunes.

The iphone is not a storage/backup device. The sync is oen way - computer to iphone. The only exception is itunes purchases. File>Devices>Transfer Purhases
Copy everything from your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.

You just need to tell iTunes where the library is located. If you want it back on your internal drive, copy the entite iTunes folder. Follow the instructions below.
