I can't access a purchased song; it has an exclamation point next to it...

I can't access one of the four songs I just purchased. It has an exclamation point between the list number and the check mark.

The usual reason for missing files is that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes.
When you get things fixed make a backup.

Hi Paula!
The exclamation points are due to iTunes not being able to find your music. This can be caused from either music being deleted from the computer or if the music folder has changed locations.
iTunes does not actually store the music in the program. All music is saved on the hard drive of your PC. iTunes just creates a link to their location and if that link is broken the exclamation points appear.
I see you're using a windows computer, the best way to locate these songs and add them back in to iTunes is to search for them.
You can click on your start menu, then in the search field type either the title of a particular song or .M4P
This should locate the music for you. Once you locate all the music or the one in particular you can right click on it and select properties. In properties you will be able to see the location.
An example of a location is, C:User Name/Documents and Settings/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media
Once you have that location you can go back to iTunes, click on a song with an exclamation, it will ask you if you would like to locate the file. Say yes and then direct the path to that song and after you select the appropriate song for that 1 file iTunes will ask you if you would like it to locate the other songs that are missing. Just say yes and your library will be back!

Ever Since iCloud and HOmesharing, my playlists are completely empty and also most of my music has an exclamation point next it and when I click "get Info" and "find", it says it can't be found...

Ok, I had a glitch, forced to restart, and lost my train of thought.
Reinstalling iTunes should fix the major issue that might have gone wrong, perhaps your explaination points will disappear and everything will be peachy again.
But if they don't, you can open the XML file in iTunes Folder using a Text edit program to see what the common pathname is to the iTunes Music folder or where your content is located.
If you moved the itunes folder, it needs to go back.
I can't download iTunes to my Vista virtual machine to test it out right now because iTunes is down, so I can't verify the pathname, perhaps your issue and the iTunes being down are related somehow?
You don't want to import all your music again, but it's a option, but you lose all your playlists, that's what I'm trying to recover.
If oyu don't have a whole lot of playlists, then simply select all the explaimation point music and delete, select File from the menu and import your itunes folder again.

Can't access past purchased songs!

Neither on my our my wife's iPhone 4 can we see the past purchased song, only films.
When loggin in to iTunes an trying to se the songs I cant get even a tag to klick. It just isn't there!!! Only films, books and apps.
This is driving me mad!
I recently updated the phones to 6.1.3. Something went wrong with my wifes phone and it had to be restored. Now when we try to find here lost songs it says "purchased" in iTunes for the album. The button is gray and cant be clicked. But we can buy individual songs not even they aper in the purchased list in the iPone. Just this sign saying we don't have any recently bought films.

What country are you in ? Music can't currently be re-downloaded in all countries - this page lists the content types that can be re-downloaded in each country : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5085
Do you have your purchased music on your computer's iTunes or on your backup of your downloads that you can use to sync it back to the phone ? If not, and if you aren't in a country where music can be re-downloaded, then you can try contacting iTunes Support and see if they will grant you a re-download : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

Can't access already purchased songs

Hello! My hard drive died, and I had to put a new one in my old computer. Although I managed to use mexi's ipod copy to copy the songs from my ipod back into itunes, it won't let access the ones I have already purchased from iTunes. Is there any way I can get hold of all of those songs? I have spent a fair amount of money on them. Thanks!

In the end after fiddling and constantly retrying, the old bought songs were all added to the library, save on for some strange reason.

iCloud does not store messages for you to see/access at icloud.com. It does back up messages so you can restore your iPhone if it ever needs to be reset to factory default. A backup is an image of all your data on the iPhone, and if you delete some messages, then they won't be part of any further backups.
If two people use the same iCloud account, then their devices are kept in sync, just like a single user's multiple devices are kept in sync. It's usually a good idea to have separate accounts for two people, since it's rarely the case that they want each phone to be an exact replica of the other.
Your iphone syncs contacts, events, camera roll, and many other things without the use of a computer.

Yes.
On their iOS devices, under Settings>iTunes & App Store, they should use your Apple ID. When they log into iCloud, iMessage and Facetime, they should use their personal Apple IDs.

Can't access my purchased in itunes 64bit

I just update itunes with 64bits windows 7, I can't access my purchased. I can access my purchased with windows home server 32bits and with windows xp but not with win7 64bits. I try de-authorized and authorized, uninstalled itunes and re-install. nothing work. Can anyone help with that problem. They maybe corrupt, try transferring again from the g4. If iTunes is giving you an error then you need to authorize your computer with the same iTunes account as previously. Also, you could try exporting your iTunes library via iTunes on the g4.
